  1. <Luceat> Do you already have the Character sheet on hand, or do you want me to link it?
  2. 10:11 AM <•ColdGold> I can wrangle it up
  3. 10:11 AM <Luceat> Alright, cool, lemme powergen real quick
  4. 10:11 AM $pc
  5. 10:11 AM <[ATM]> ATM [Brute] [Type] Exotic effect - parahuman uses some kind of odd physics to maintain durability: high-intensity pressure, spatial deformation, repulsion, etc.
  6. 10:11 AM [Brute] [Style] Trail - power leaves tar (areas drain enemy Ath, hard to move through) in wake of movement.
  7. 10:11 AM [Brute] [Gimmick] Alexandria Package - can fly.
  8. 10:12 AM <Luceat> Huh. Okay.
  9. 10:12 AM <•ColdGold> Interesting
  10. 10:12 AM <Luceat> Immediately thought of something more Breaker-y than Brute
  11. 10:14 AM <•ColdGold> I mean I would help you again, but by the rules I can't this time :P
  12. 10:14 AM Do your thing
  13. 10:15 AM <Luceat> Breaker state, transforms into a sort of tar-like, oil-like substance, keeping human shape. Physical damage is superficial, like punching a liquid, and the substance sticks, weighing people down. In addition, you constantly drip the substance while you move, leaving entire trails of the gunk everywhere, sticking and weighing down everyone and every
  14. 10:15 AM thing it touches.
  15. 10:15 AM Not quite as Brute-y as I'd like, maybe.
  16. 10:18 AM Hmm, maybe not a Breaker state, just a changed physiology? The body is just made of the stuff, organs and all.
  17. 10:18 AM You're basically a tar-like liquid person inside a human shell.
  18. 10:19 AM <•ColdGold> Does he still look human?
  19. 10:19 AM <Luceat> Make the tar drip voluntary. And if you're cut in half or something, the tar just flows back together, creating an effective regeneration effect.
  20. 10:19 AM <•ColdGold> Oh interesting
  21. 10:20 AM <Luceat> Yeah, he has the skin of a human, but everything inside him is just made of the tar. Hard to damage.
  22. 10:20 AM <•ColdGold> So to give you tips for writing up you want to get mechanics in now. How do you want to represent durability? A guts plus, wound tier reducing, withstand bonuses, wound healing. It's all up to your imagination. Does the stickiness provide an Ath debuff, need to pulled off with an action?
  23. 10:20 AM Just examples for you
  24. 10:20 AM Power genning is something you'll come across later in the server though
  25. 10:21 AM And its good to know that you can be creative with it
  26. 10:21 AM <Pink> can they use the tar to do other things? Adhere things, climb stuff, flavor curry?
  27. 10:22 AM He could be called Secret Sauce
  28. 10:23 AM <•ColdGold> If the tar was white I'd call him Dough Boy
  29. 10:23 AM Still tempted to
  30. 10:23 AM :P
  31. 10:23 AM <Luceat> Yeah, figured. Um, let's say he has a single +1 Guts baseline, with a large resistance to cutting, piercing and bashing wounds tier (aka, moderate becomes light, light becomes negligible, etc) and a regeneration effect for cutting and piercing. Burning wounds are a weakness; he's made of tar, and that's real flammable, and he doesn't have a fire im
  32. 10:23 AM munity.
  33. 10:23 AM <Pink> Mr. Stay Puft
  34. 10:24 AM hm, make it bright green and call him Gak
  35. 10:24 AM <Luceat> The Gunk, if there's sufficient amounts of it, give a -1 Ath debuff. Affected can use an action to remove the gunk, or let it kind of drip away over a moderate period of time.
  36. 10:24 AM Let's say, 1 action to remove the buff, or 4 turns to let it drip away on its own.
  37. 10:25 AM <•ColdGold> Is it a DC action? Like a DC 3 or 4 Dex check to remove?
  38. 10:25 AM Stuff like that is good to note
  39. 10:25 AM <Luceat> Yeah, DC 3.
  40. 10:25 AM <•ColdGold> Free action?
  41. 10:25 AM Cool
  42. 10:25 AM <Luceat> DC 3 Dex, that is, should've noted.
  43. 10:25 AM <•ColdGold> Does stacking it stack the debuff, and make it harder to remove?
  44. 10:26 AM ((Also does flight give any Ath bonuses))
  45. 10:26 AM Don't mean to beat you over the head, just stuff that you'd have to think about
  46. 10:26 AM <Luceat> It stacks the debuff with sufficient amounts, like covering a limb gets -1 Ath, covering more of the body gets -2 Ath, etc etc. Can cover entire body and get a max of -4 Ath, but that's not happening often, all things considered.
  47. 10:27 AM <•ColdGold> And makes sense
  48. 10:27 AM <Luceat> If both arms are affected, the Dex roll becomes a DC 5 pass. Harder to get off without arms, y'know.
  49. 10:29 AM Flight does give an +1 Ath buff, yeah. Easier to dodge stuff with 3 dimensions to play with.
  50. 10:29 AM Am I missing anything?
  51. 10:29 AM <•ColdGold> Nothing I can think of, just a consolidated write up I'd say
  52. 10:29 AM And then I can do luck for you
  53. 10:30 AM Maybe note how fast the flight is
  54. 10:30 AM But that's not /super/ important since you're running it
  55. 10:30 AM <Luceat> Flight is about running speed, maybe a little below.
  56. 10:30 AM Not super fast.
  57. 10:30 AM <•ColdGold> Sure thing
  58. 10:30 AM <Luceat> Alright, I'll pop over to pastebin, write it a little more cleanly. Can you roll $luck in the meantime?
  59. 10:30 AM <•ColdGold> $luck
  60. 10:30 AM <[ATM]> ATM ColdGold [4/4, 3/4] [Power Perk 33]: Absorption. The power allows the parahuman to take in physical or psychic energies of a specific type, depending on what the parahuman's power is and what it focuse son. This manifests in a set of charges, accumulating no more than one per round, typically to a maximum of one, two, or three charges; more charges may be harder to acquire.
  61. 10:30 AM Physical energies can be absorbed by taking damage of a particular type (reducing it in severity by one step) or contact with a particular type of material or substance, such as holding and disintegrating high quality metals or wood, or holding one's hand to a fire. Mental energies typically involve being around pain or heightened emotion.
  62. 10:30 AM Charges can be spent to enhance the parahuman's primary power for one use.
  63. 10:30 AM [Life Perk 74]: Vindictae. After suffering a loss, the character bounces back hard and with a vengeance.
  64. 10:30 AM Pick one - gain 3 rerolls to use in combat for the rematch, scrounge up $1k in temporary funds/assets to better fight back, the character gets 150% of lost rep back and causes rep loss if successful, gain additional soldiers (three points worth) for the rematch and keep them/the points if successful, or the character gets a morale boost when fighting back and retain the boost against that foe
  65. 10:30 AM for a month if successful. The morale boost is a +1 to rolls involving emotion or leadership, and can be consumed to add +2 to a roll.
  66. 10:30 AM The Revenge perk can apply to noncombat losses or situations, unless otherwise stated, and effects can be granted to the character's gang (such as giving them morale, one of the rerolls, or collective rep) if the character has any leadership skills (Street Smarts, Command, Presentation).
  67. 10:30 AM Those interacting with the character may get the impression that they're not to be trifled with - that they're vicious, spiteful, or tenacious survivor types. This is a mild drawback - knowing that anything that doesn't completely destroy the character may make them stronger, enemies may be more inclined to pull out the big guns.
  68. 10:31 AM <Luceat> Huh.
  69. 10:31 AM <•ColdGold> I can tie the second into the session and make them revenge focused if you'd like
  70. 10:31 AM Say he already lost to someone
  71. 10:31 AM Or it could be for a noncombat thing
  72. 10:32 AM I'll make the sheet and then see if you have anything in mind for it
  73. 10:32 AM <Luceat> That'd be nice, it's hard to integrate into a one-shot.
  74. 10:32 AM <•ColdGold> Do you wanna keep it?
  75. 10:36 AM <Luceat> Yeah sure, just see if you can tie it into the session. It's hard to pull off longer-term things like that in one-shots because you're basically only with that character for 1 session. If you don't wanna make the char revenge-based, you can reroll, but I don't have a problem with it myself.
  76. 10:36 AM <•ColdGold> Nah I'm fine with it
  77. 10:36 AM I have a general idea in mind
  78. 10:36 AM <Luceat> Alright, we're keeping it then. Cool.
  79. 10:43 AM <•ColdGold> Sounds good
  80. 10:43 AM Making the sheet while I wait btw, so no worries on that
  81. 10:45 AM <Luceat> I think this is comprehensive enough.
  82. 10:45 AM https://pastebin.com/mxJRB8GZ
  83.
  84. 10:46 AM Handful of grammar mistakes, bleh.
  85. 10:47 AM <•ColdGold> It's all good
  86. 10:47 AM They're kinda unavoidable
  87. 10:48 AM <Luceat> Hm, yeah, maybe that's a bit unfair.
  88. 10:48 AM Gimme a moment.
  89. 10:48 AM <•ColdGold> But yeah my main idea is he's an ex member of whatever the local street or color gang was when he was unpowered, he's a teen so one of the lackeys. I made his trigger his gang leaving him to bleed out from a bullet in a puddle of mud that he can't breath in or get up from. Had a falling out with them and is coming back with help and resources from one of the other factions to wreck them.
  90. 10:49 AM I'll put that on my sheet for you in the notes section too
  91. 10:49 AM Or just all over that
  92. 10:49 AM That work for a basic idea?
  93. 10:50 AM <Luceat> https://pastebin.com/r0WpnQWc
  94.
  95. 10:50 AM Yeah, that's great, actually. I've got 2 factions in mind, too.
  96. 10:51 AM That's the fixed power description. Made the "blast" give a D3 Ath roll to dodge.
  97. 10:52 AM Not hard to avoid, so timing is crucial. Helps to already have a stack or 2 of gunk on any targets.
  98. 10:53 AM <•ColdGold> For the upgrading burns I'd make it upgrade to an extra moderate burn effect or another burn wound tops
  99. 10:53 AM A crit is three mods btw
  100. 10:53 AM Will fuck anyone up
  101. 10:53 AM And most of the time it kills people
  102. 10:53 AM So it would mean if I take one moderate burn it's a lethal attack
  103. 10:53 AM <Luceat> Yeah, that sounds a bit better. Guess I underestimated Crit wounds.
  104. 10:54 AM 1 sec, changing.
  105. 10:54 AM <•ColdGold> No worries, and yeah they're a little crazy but only happen rarely
  106. 10:55 AM <Luceat> https://pastebin.com/GUBB1bn7
  107.
  108. 10:56 AM made it so any burn wound adds an extra burn wound of the same severity, added a note that this includes Crit wounds
  109. 10:56 AM 1 Crit Burn means death, almost without question.
  110. 10:56 AM Cause you'll have 2 for the price of one, basically.
  111. 10:56 AM AKA, stay away from fire.
  112. 10:57 AM <•ColdGold> Heard on that!

  117. 11:02 AM It looks awesome man
  118. 11:03 AM You're getting the hang of things really quickly
  119. 11:04 AM <Luceat> Hah, you actually went with Dough Boy!
  120. 11:04 AM That's hilarious.
  121. 11:04 AM <•ColdGold> Dough Boy is about that Dough, Boy
  122. 11:05 AM Its because of how I imagine his skin kind pushing in like putty when he gets hit lol
  123. 11:05 AM And he loves money
  124. 11:05 AM Plus I like it more than the gimme of a name that's Tar Pit :P
  125. 11:07 AM <Luceat> Yeah, Tar Pit sounds kind of on the nose.
  126. 11:07 AM I like Dough Boy, silly but accurate
  127. 11:07 AM <•ColdGold> We love our silly names here haha
  128. 11:07 AM <Luceat> If you want I can flavor the tar-like substance to be a different color?
  129. 11:08 AM Or just dark-greenish black.
  130. 11:08 AM <•ColdGold> I'm fine with it being whatever
  131. 11:08 AM But I had a muddy light brown color in mind for it
  132. 11:08 AM Maybe dark brown
  133. 11:08 AM <Luceat> Ah, then we'll go for that. It's not really important, honestly. Dark brown sounds fine.
  134. 11:08 AM <•ColdGold> Sure works for me

  136. 11:09 AM like gingerbread
  137. 11:10 AM <•ColdGold> xD
  138. 11:13 AM This character is actually pretty hype for a PC power lol
  139. 11:13 AM <Luceat> Alright, so. You used to be a part of the Beach Capers, a major gang run by a large concentration of capes, totaling to 10 B-list villains. They run a huge protection racket in the northern part of the city, claiming it as their territory. Mostly led by 2 mid-twenties brothers, Slick and Wild Ride, a Shaker/Mover that creates a zone around himself
  140. 11:13 AM <•ColdGold> $pc power*
  141. 11:13 AM <Luceat> that reduces friction of everything inside it, making it, well, slick; and a Changer that can transform his body into mechanical contraptions, favoring cars and other land-based vehicles because of personal preference.
  142. 11:14 AM <•ColdGold> That's a sick power
  143. 11:16 AM <Luceat> After your, ahem, falling out with that gang, you were hellbent on revenge, and approached the local independent hero team OOSOOM, creating a rough and uneasy alliance. They saw a chance to deal a major blow to their largest villain problem, considering the other villain team spends most of their time holed up in the eastern end of the city, so the
  144. 11:16 AM y agreed to help you with your revenge, coming out in full force with all 3 of their combatant team members.
  145. 11:17 AM — •ColdGold nods
  146. 11:19 AM <Luceat> ((I used those 3 yesterday, too. Quick run-down: Paragon of Power, a Brute/Shaker that absorbs electricity to become stronger, with about a 20 second interval between absorbs; Slumbering Night, a hammy anti-hero with a Master/Stranger power to create creatures out of shadows, mostly in the shape of predatory animals. They're not very strong, but th
  147. 11:19 AM ey create an aura of unease and paranoia around them, increasing in intensity with every creature in range; and Very, Very Frightening, a Mover/Breaker/Master combo that turns into a bolt of lightning, moving incredibly quickly to a location and exploding at arrival, doing a bit of damage and creating a fearing effect.))
  148. 11:20 AM <•ColdGold> Awesome I remember them yeah
  149. 11:21 AM Wasn't aware of VVF though
  150. 11:22 AM <Luceat> They're your backup. You have a vague idea of your enemies, though your information on their powers isn't all that detailed aside from the 2 bosses. You were just a mook, after all. From what you remember, there's at least 2 Brute-types, a projection based Master, a Thinker that you probably won't face, and some sort of ice-based Shaker. Plus whate
  151. 11:22 AM ver else they have, you're not sure. They tend to stay out of the limelight, as far as you know, so maybe Strangers and Masters and whatever else doesn't actually fight for themselves. You could be wrong about that.
  152. 11:23 AM <•ColdGold> Yeah makes sense. He was a Know 2 mook, so he wouldn't know much about the inner operations
  153. 11:23 AM Probably just a good place to move
  154. 11:23 AM <Luceat> ((Yeah, VVF was the girl who ran away with Beam-Me-Up in the last one-shot. Didn't see much of her, has decent synergy with Paragon.))
  155. 11:24 AM <•ColdGold> ((Oh okay yeah, I remember her))
  156. 11:24 AM <Luceat> Okay, setup complete, I think. You wanna get started?

  161. 11:28 AM |Los Playas' northern end was a shithole, even when you were working under the assholes that ran it. It was filthy, it was littered with garbage, and there were thugs and crooks everywhere. Most of the smog from the oil plants up north of the city gathered here first and foremost, so the air was toxic and harder to breathe than anywhere else in the
  162. 11:28 AM city, which said a lot, considering the pollution that was everywhere in this hellhole.
  163. 11:30 AM It was, without a doubt, the worst part of the city, and not just because of the Capers that ran it. At one point, you called it home, to some degree. Your friends were here, your "job" was here. Until they left you to die, like you were nothing. You swore, then and there, that you'd destroy them, that you'd make them pay, and, well, here you were.

To others, probably to the heroes with him this place /is/ a shit hole. It was the kind of place where you made sure your car doors were locked, or took a detour around if you knew any better. But to him, this place was like home. Not because it was a comfortable place he could relax in, but because of how familiar it was. He'd grown up in it. A place where
  170. 11:39 AM you didn't look people in the eye unless you were hard enough to get them to back down when the two of you started staring. A place where you couldn't show any weakness and poverty, crime, and addiction ran through a lot of it. He was in his element here.
  171. 11:39 AM "Are you though?" He asks, turning to her slightly, and raising an eyebrow. He glances over at the other capes taking them in and wondering the same of them. He wasn't no hero, was in it because /fuck the Beach Capers/, but he could respect someone who could put in work. Were they gonna earn his respect? I'd found in my short time with my powers and in my practice sessions that an aerial view never hurt things either.

Maybe that's the unease from when I look at those minions, jeez those things are giving him the creeps. I give Paragon props for being able to keep the facade up with those things around. At

Keeping the squishy master safe seems like the best option for now to make sure that we completely dismantle these guys. I try for a maneuver I'd thought up, one of a few. It was funny because most people didn't look up...

Even before he receives the full brunt of the tar blast, he's fallen inside the layer of tar you'd left on the ground earlier. He's covered, almost head to toe, even as bits and pieces of the tar on
  398. 2:09 PM the ground and the tar from your blast disappears. There's no way he's getting out, and any movement he makes just sends more and more tar to his teammate. "What the- Mart! What's happening?!" You turn to look at the ongoing fight between Slip-'n-Slide and OOSOOM. Paragon and Very, Very Frightening are both kneeling, injured and bleeding slightly,
  399. 2:09 PM but generally in tact. Slip-'n'-Slide, meanwhile, is clawing at spots of tar that have just appeared on his body, clawing at his legs and lower body.
  400. 2:13 PM "Well, that was annoying." You hear. Slumbering Night walks up, for once not being dramatic. He's brushing imaginary dirt and filth off his robes, flanked by two of his creatures, while the rest of them hang back. The hazy shape from before is hounding him, but he's steadfastedly ignoring it. Nothing it's doing does any damage, and there's no react
  401. 2:13 PM ion from him even as the shape punching and tugs at him. "Hazy guy is a Stranger. If you hit him, you get blasted with anger for him. A taunting effect, traps you in a loop where the taunt makes you more likely to hit him. Finally got out of it. Just ignore him."||
  402. 2:14 PM ((That... was a lining up of literally perfect, simultaneous scenarios

  404. 2:15 PM ((Yeah things all came together pretty smoothly here so far))
  405. 2:16 PM <Luceat|GM> Bash trips Martyr, gets him to 4 stack tar state, so now he's at 0 Ath and trapped. His power sends more and more taunt to Slip-'n-Slide, covers him in tar, makes it easy for Paragon and VVF to beat him, finally. AND Night FINALLY passes his Wits check to get out of Hazy cape 's power))
  406. 2:16 PM ((tar*))
  407. 2:20 PM <•CG|DoughBoy> ColdGold I shake my head blinking away the rest of the disorientation from taking the explosion, and look over at Night. Watching the whispy fuck hitting him have no effect at all is actually kind of funny, and though my body still aches a little from the damage I realize I'd come through the other side of this pretty much okay. It'll suck that I'll have to heal this off at regular speeds. I spit in Martyrdom's direction, motherfucker.
  408. 2:20 PM "Y'all didn't care bout my name before when you should've, but I bet y'all know my name now. Now it's too late." I shake my head at the whispy cape again.
  409. 2:20 PM "Fuck you think you're doing dumbass. Go run off and tell your Wild Ride how much of a fuck up you are, or keep being useless doesn't matter to me." I shrug and give Night an approving nod before I take off over towards Slip and Slide. I land in front of him still hovering a few feet off the floor so I don't slip.
  410. 2:20 PM I just stare him down wordlessly waiting for him to speak first but ready to fully dough him into submission if he tries shit.

  413. 2:26 PM <Luceat|GM> ||"OOSOOM have a new guy, huh? What're you called, then? Tar Man? Sticky Shit?" Slip-'n-Slide snarls, irritated. "Alright, Tar Shit, haul me off to prison, go be a 'hero'. I'll be out of there in a week. Tops. You're wasting your time." There's a snort. Very, Very Frightening stands up straight, looks at him. She looks sort of amused. "You're at t
  414. 2:26 PM hree strikes, bud." She says, and you can just imagine her grin. "Plus you've killed before. At least six murders, one of which was a cape. Can you get out of the Birdcage in a week?"

  417. 2:30 PM "I ain't OOSOOM, but I AM awesome. And I ain't no hero, I'm just about the dough, boy Don't get it twisted." I say to him coldly, floating closer until I'm only inches from him, as I shake my head. I gesture a thumb back at Very, Very Frightening.
  418. 2:30 PM "And you heard her, I made sure you was gonna go in for a long time after this shit, bitch." I give him a nasty smile.
  419. 2:31 PM "The name's Dough Boy, mother fucker. If you get your one phone call tell your pussy ass brother he should learn to treat his employees better in the future. You never know when they might become a boss." And with that I wind my fist back and cock him straight in the face as hard as I can, dough in hand to cover him the rest of the way.
