47. Deeply ensconced in a top-secret military program, three pilots struggle to bring an artificial intelligence program under control before it initiates the next world war.
 48. In the near future, the Navy develops a fighter jet piloted by an artificial intelligence computer. The jet is placed on an aircraft carrier in the Pacific to learn combat manuevers from the human pilots aboard. But when the computer develops a mind of its own, it's the humans who are charged with stopping it before it incites a war...
 49. Compared to producer Neal Moritz's "xXx2: The Next Level," "Stealth" almost qualifies as a good movie. Compared to other action movies involving flyboys, however, the movie ironically never quite gets off the ground - though it does actually have a better effect than the summer's other most expensive box office flop, because it at least knows what it is and doesn't try to be anything else (pay attention, "The Island," I'm talking to you).

Basically "Top Gun" meets "Broken Arrow" via "Short Circuit," director Rob Cohen and writer W.D. Richter seem to be kidding the audience from time to time - why is Jamie Foxx's character called Henry Purcell? Is the obligatory scene where he, Josh Lucas and Jessica Biel stride side by side in slow motion a send-up or intentional? - but they also could have put more thought into the script and a bit less time concocting excuses for special effects; Digital Domain, Animal Logic (separately credited for the scene where Miss Biel ejects from her plane and the EDI DNA bit) and the other FX houses show off so often, and not always to the best effect, that "Stealth" comes this close to being a live-action/animation movie. Which kind of fits, since a number of the situations get so ridiculous...

Not particularly tense or thrilling, going on way too long and having a third act that suddenly throws in attempts at a cover-up, plot twists that turn it into a one-boy-and-his-plane story, and some weird time effects (exactly how long is she stranded in North Korea holding off the enemy again?), "Stealth" just begs to be sniggered at. (Wouldn't it have been weird if the women Foxx and Lucas get together with had turned out to be ladyboys? And doesn't the scene where the formation flight hits Mach 5 beg for the announcer from "Battle of the Planets" to go "Always five, acting as one!"?)

But if you see it as a cheese-laden diversion, it does kind of pass the time. True, Joe Morton and Sam Shepard do all the proper acting here; true, BT's score could have been better (and a bit less obtrusive sometimes); and true, its attitude towards dropping missiles won't please the left-wingers (hello? Acts of war, people? I don't believe that irony is a trait specific to Britain, but it does seem odd that Lucas complains about war being treated as a video game in this milieu); but "Stealth" has just enough decent moments to not qualify as a total stinker if you get it in the right mood. And I have to admit I did find it amusing that EDI downloaded every single song from the Web (and the soundtrack album) to play while in flight... so basically the US Navy's built the world's most expensive iPod and thrown in military capability? Copyright lawyers would have a hard time arguing with that.

The decision to throw in a sequel setup after the end credits is a case of wishful thinking, considering its box office take. The decision to have Jessica Biel almost busting out of combat fatigues and in a skimpy blue bikini, on the other hand... well, "Iron Eagle" is more fun overall, but it didn't have Biel's buns.
 50. Okay, I really was looking forward to this movie, I am a big fan of explosions, planes, Rob Cohen and Josh Lucas. I will break my comments down in an orderly fashion Producer: I love Rob Cohen, although he seemed so excited about this movie in may have clouded his vision of where this was supposed to go. In a movie it is the Director and Producers vision of what the movie should be, as opposed to the stage where it is an actors vision. I don't think that they did a bad job though.

Cinementography: My only complaint is that the fighter sequences had the jets roaring by so fast you could hardly tell what they were. Otherwise it was great, my favorite other scenes were when Henry (Jamie) was walking through the meadow with a beautiful woman and of course where Josh and Jessica were under the waterfall. Both of them have wonderful bodies, liked it when Josh played Tarazan under the waterfall.

Acting: I honestly think these actors did a great job with what they were given. They had the mannerisms down as far as when they were flying and flipping switches, it seemed like they had a purpose for what they were doing instead of just doing it randomly. I am only familiar with Josh's work and I found him to be fantastic in this movie. This is not his typical role (he usually plays a very bad guy) and this just shows discreet range as an actor. Even though I am not familiar with Jessica or Jamie's work, I think they were very good also. I hope the budding careers of Josh and Jessica are not set back by this movie. I also read how dedicated they were in playing these pilots as real as possible. Josh went to survival training, got dunked in a big tank of water, upside down helicopter and had to escape blind folded, got 3 concussions and lost his eye site for 4 hours. In an article Rob Cohen said how Jessica did so much better in the gimble, no puking for her but the guys weren't so lucky.

Music: Awesome, no c/o, loud and perfectly fit.

Screenplay: Okay, IF there is any fault with this movie I believe it was in the screenplay. It at times seemed illogical even for a movie that is futuristic.

Overall, I am going to give it a 10 despite a few misteps. I really enjoyed it and will go see it again. It is a harmless way to spend a hot summer afternoon. This may not be the blockbuster that it was supposed to be but I think it will still break even, considering world wide release and that ever important DVD.
 51. Plastic characters, chaotic camerawork, lots of things blowing up, and an incredibly dumb screenplay. In short, it represents a great time at the movies for anyone who has recently undergone a frontal lobotomy.
 52. Their is no official service wide policy in effect in peacetime. Whether or not officers and enlisted personnel wear dress uniform, uniform of the day or civilian clothing to frequent bars and nighclubs while overseas and off duty. Then it is always up to the discretion of the commanding officer of each command/unit/ship/submarine to set forth the uniform of the day requirements regarding how service members will be attired while off duty and mixing with the local civilian population. Keep in mind that whenever in uniform American service members are representing their nation and should always be on their best behavior. While stationed in the USA then uniform requirements are often relaxed for local commands including those stationed in Alaska and Hawaii. For naval personnel, dress whites are always difficult to keep clean the majority of the time. a5c7b9f00b
