  1. The purpose of this scale is to capture more dimensions of affective gender identity than just "would you prefer being male or being female?"
  2. Approach:
  3. People will be instructed to consider how well they feel a list of positive or negative adjectives applies to them living as male vs living as female (probably Likert scaled, "much more as male", "more as male", "equally as male and female", "more as female", "much more as female"). I'm not sure how to phrase the question in a good way though. Maybe something like "Imagine that one day you were transformed into the opposite sex. You've gotten some time to adjust, but you keep the same propensities (e.g. sexual interests) and memories as you had before the change. Do you think any of the following descriptors apply better to your life before the change, or after the change? (Obviously, this is a difficult thing to know for sure, as you're unlikely to really have tried this. However, this set of questions is more meant to get at your self-concept of how well you feel you'd do as male vs female, and I understand that I should take things with a grain of salt. You should thus feel free to guess.)"
