Ferula - Charms

Hello and Welcome to Charms Y4! Today, we'll be going over the spell Ferula. We'll be discussing it's creator, and how the spell was created. Ferula is one of the most useful spells in healing. Although, it was a spell made for a good cause, it was firstly used in one of the worst situations.

Almost a century ago, a girl named Cadie Delin, had been raised in an orphanage. She never knew who her parents really were, and this little by little slowly drove her mad. She'd do anything - anything at all to find out who her parents really were. The Orphanage was soon cramped with kids, and they were forced to kick a few out. Cadie, unfortunately was one of those poor souls kicked out. She was 11 at the time, and actually soon warmed up to the idea of living alone. "No annoying people bothering me, no one treating me horribly" she thought. These dreams and thoughts were soon ruined though. As all Witches and Wizards do, she had finally received her letter into Hogwarts. She took one look at it, and scoffed. "A Magical school? Oh please" she said to herself, "Whoever might be tricking me, will be sorry". Each time she looked at the card, she didn't want to believe it, nor physically open it. Soon, she couldn't help it, the card was definitely, magically powerful. Yet Cadie, as stubborn as she always was, didn't want to believe this. She finally opened it, out of sheer curiosity, it was - believable? Cadie didn't know what this was, but she needed to find out who had given this to her. So she followed its directions, going to Hogwarts and meeting all these different people.

In the Great Hall, Cadie stood, the magical hat was soon put onto her head, and shouted, "Slytherin!". Cadie had no idea what any of these "houses" were, but she liked the idea of having more power than those she was raised with. She soon made one friend, whose name was Amanda. She became more and more isolated trying to find her parents, every single year. She wasn't one to make friends, but Amanda would always be there for her. They'd talk about the things they'd like to do once they leave Hogwarts, and shared their secrets with one another. She did make many enemies though, as she didn't like many people. She did well in classes, but only when she felt like doing well. Cadie was occasionally lazy, and didn't like doing what others told her.

It was a surprise to many, that Cadie actually graduated, but she had always been capable of it. When she graduated, she soon left to live the life she had always wanted to - one with no one in her life. These plans were yet again, ruined. For she had always liked someone in Slytherin. Even though, she did isolate herself, she felt something - she didn't know what it was, but she actually had a crush on a boy in Slytherin, and his name had been Jaden Wells. Jaden would always hang out with Cadie and Amanda back when they were in Hogwarts, and he was always nice to them no matter what. Once they all graduated they parted, and went their separate ways.

Right after Cadie graduated she went into some sort of depression. She had finally remembered what she had came to Hogwarts for - to find out who her parents were. This was utterly failed, as Cadie could clearly see. She failed, and never forgave herself for it. Hogwarts temporarily drew her mind off of her life goal, but once she graduated she finally remembered. Never finding this crucial information that would've put together her life, she started hating herself for it. She would go to bars, drinking daily trying to make herself feel better about her life. This didn't though, and she'd become more and more depressed each passing day.

Until, one day she went to a random bar, again trying to make herself feel better that she and never found her parents, but this time she found someone she knew from Hogwarts - Jaden and Amanda?! They were together.. At the bar, together as a couple. Cadie was furious, Amanda had known that she loved Jaden. She then couldn't stand seeing them together, and a result of being drunk - she then casted one of the most deadly spells she could think of on Jaden, "Avada Kedavra!" She shouted. It hid Jaden spot on, and both were caught off guard. Amanda whirled around, and screamed, "What have you done?!" Cadie hadn't realized what she'd done.. She killed Jaden. "Wait, please let me fix this, please!" Cadie shouted. She then tried remembering one of the spells she'd created. She was truly intelligent, she just didn't like using her intelligence unless it was for her benefit, or finding her parents. She had been studying different languages too, looking in libraries while trying to find history of her parents. She finally remembered the spell she had actually created trying to help find her parents, but failed and somehow turned out to be a healing spell. "Ferula!" Cadie said, almost near tears. She tried the spell over and over again, but Jaden wouldn't come back to life. Amanda then shouted, "How could you do this?" In turn, Cadie replied "Me?! Why would you do this to me?!" In anger, drunkenness and frustration she immediately killed Amanda, but this time she didn't try healing her. She walked out of that deserted bar, her head high, like nothing had happened.

Cadie was finally content, but only for a little while. She felt guilty after a few days. Cadie, never fully recovered of the fact she had never found her parents, and killed her two best friends. Both of these lead to her death, she killed herself, out of guilt.

In the end, Ferula was used for a good cause. Cadie tried to save Jaden, but miserably failed. This spell was useless to Cadie, and she had actually hated this spell, for it reminded her of her evil past, till she couldn't take it anymore, and killed herself.
