there will always be someone better than you at something, no matter how good you are.
i used to think i was an awesome coder until this new job where there's a couple geniuses around. I had some real professional insecurity about it. Envy.

But then I realized I just have other priorities in life. I simply don't want to be that hardcore. I'm a different personality. I might not be the best coder, but people like me at work because I'm friendly and I have a great sense of humor.

Also, there's probably quite a bit of intellectual masturbation going on. But you need to think about yourself and what you truly want out of life.
