File is mysql-init located in my home dir.
 
UPDATE mysql.user SET Password=PASSWORD('thepassiset') WHERE User='root';
FLUSH PRIVILEGES;
 
Then I ran sudo mysqld_safe --init-file=/home/akaku/mysql-init 
 
I had to sudo because it would not allow me to run it without being root
