  18. Happy New Year!!
  19.
  20. Hello to all my seminary families! Here’s hoping you’ve had a wonderful and relaxing holiday and that you were able to catch up on some much needed sleep! I’ve vowed and made a resolution to be better at sending out emails. So here’s to the new year and new making and keeping new goals!
  21.
  22. Hopefully your students have been keeping up on their New Testament reading. For the record, we are still in the Gospel of John and we will be resuming our lessons this Tuesday with John 14 and will go through John 17 by Friday. This week is a little wonky for a couple reasons: 1) Oak Park High School is still on winter break. Agoura High and Westlake High are back in session. And so because there are 2 schools that are in, we WILL be having seminary. Oak Park students will not be penalized for not coming to seminary this week. But if they want to attend, they will receive a make up for each day they come.
  23. 2) Tuesday, Jan. 3rd is a late start day. So there will be 2 sessions of seminary – 5:50 am and 7:30 am. 3) Thursday is an in-service day for the teachers and that means that Bro. Laguna will be teaching seminary to all the students that day. YOU DON’T WANT TO MISS BROTHER LAGUNA’S LESSONS!! He is an amazing teacher and he keeps us right on track.
  24.
  25. This Friday we will be celebrating Seth Hardy’s birthday and so we look forward to him bringing some yummy treats!

  27. I also want to bring to your attention what will be happening the week of January 9th. At the end of each semester, we are required to give an assessment to all the students, figure out their attendance and/or makeups, if necessary, and also make sure the students have done the required reading. The assessment is given twice during the seminary year – once at the end of each semester. One of the requirements for seminary credit is passing each assessment. The score needed for passing is 75% or more. We will be reviewing NEXT Tuesday and Wednesday (January 10th & 11th) and then taking the assessment on Thursday, January 12th . The questions on the assessment will cover what we have learned and read this past semester. The questions are mostly multiple choice and a few short answer. It would be extremely beneficial to each of the students to be in seminary the week of January 9th, and ON TIME!! We will need every minute to review and also to give the assessment. This is not a test, but an assessment to find out just where they are and what they know and how we can help them become more familiar with the doctrines and principles taught.
  28.
  29. There is no need for your student to worry or stress. Your kids are smart and very knowledgeable. If for some reason they do not pass with 75% or more, I will send home the assessment with the student to review it with their family and learn the doctrines. Then you parents will give the assessment again to your child and correct it. When they have passed with 75% or more correct, please have them bring their answer sheet to me so that it can be recorded as a pass in the gradebook.
  30.
  31. Another requirement for receiving credit for seminary is reading the book of scripture for that year. The required reading for this semester is Matthew through John.
  32.
  33. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to give me a call or email me.
  34.
  35. Looking forward to a fantastic new year!
  36.
