  45. 1. Account and character policies
  46. 1.1 Account ownership and responsibility
  47. 1.1.1 Account ownership is not transferable and is property of the creator.
  48. 1.1.2 Players are responsible that their account or IP address is not used to break the server rules.
  49. 1.1.3 Players must not trade their accounts for money or valuables, parties involved in the trade will be blocked.
  50. 1.2 Donations and credit store
  51. 1.2.1 Contact the owners of ECLIPSE Roleplay, if you experience any issues with credit purchases.
  52. 1.2.2 All purchases are linked to the buyer’s account, therefore, credits and assets purchased from the credit store,
  53. cannot be transferred to a different account.
  54. 1.2.3 ECLIPSE Roleplay will not refund players, who are banned for server rule breaches or activity that is harmful to
  55. the community.
  56. 1.3 Character creation and property
  57. 1.3.1 Character names must be realistic and resemble real world names, players may use national names.
  58. 1.3.2 Character names cannot be names of famous people (ex.: celebrities, politicians, historical personalities).
  59. 1.3.3 Players must not trade character assets for OOC valuables, parties involved in the trade will be blocked.
  60. 2. Cheating and server bugs
  61. 2.1 Hacking
  62. 2.1.1 Hackers will be permanently banned without warning or chance to appeal.
  63. 2.1.2 Mods, trainers and software that enable their user to activate unfair abilities are hacks.
  64. 2.1.3 Players must not have the ability to activate cheats on demand while in the server, players must uninstall such
  65. mods and trainers before joining the game.
  66. 2.1.4 Players are allowed to use audiovisual mods if there are no side effects (ex.: these mods cannot improve vehicle
  67. performance or protect the player from gunfire).
  68. 2.1.5 Players are allowed to bind keys to make it easier to perform actions (usually those that require typing).
  69. 2.2 Macroing
  70. 2.2.1 Macroing is the use of third-party software (or hardware enhancements) to perform automated actions.
  71. 2.2.2 Macroing players will be blocked and their character assets will be removed.
  72. 3
  73. 2.3 Server bugs
  74. 2.3.1 Server bugs should be reported on ECLIPSE Roleplay forums.
  75. 2.3.2 Exploiters will be blocked and their character assets will be removed.
  76. 3. Communication rules
  77. 3.1 Advertising
  78. 3.1.1 It is prohibited to advertise other GTA V multiplayer communities in ECLIPSE servers. This includes discussion or
  79. talk of other communities. An attempt to break this rule will result in a permanent ban.
  80. 3.2 Server languages
  81. 3.2.1 English is the server language, therefore, all players must be able to communicate in English.
  82. 3.2.2 English is the only language that should be used in IC chat.
  83. 3.2.3 A different language may be used in OOC chat ONLY if everyone, who can see the conversation, have agreed to it.
  84. 3.3 Offensive language
  85. 3.3.1 Players are allowed to threaten other players and use offensive language in IC chat for roleplay purposes.
  86. 3.3.2 Players must not threaten other players or use offensive language in OOC chat or OOC context.
  87. 3.4 Global announcements
  88. 3.4.1 Global announcements cannot contain offensive content (both IC and OOC).
  89. 3.4.2 Global announcements must only contain IC content.
  90. 3.4.3 Global announcements cannot be used to advertise illegal merchandise or activities.
  91. 4. Community security
  92. 4.1 Harassment
  93. 4.1.1 It is prohibited to leak personal information of another person or to make such threats. An attempt to break this
  94. rule will result in an immediate permanent ban.
  95. 4.1.2 It is prohibited to intimidate players from playing on the server or to continuously harass them in the game for
  96. OOC reasons to purposely make their game experience miserable.
  97. 4.2 Cyber-attacks
  98. 4.2.1 Cyber-attacks (threats) against ECLIPSE Roleplay will result in an immediate permanent ban.
  99. 4.2.2 Discussion of potential cyber-attacks against ECLIPSE Roleplay will result in a ban.
  100. 4
  101. 4.3 Knowledge of rule breaches
  102. 4.3.1 Players must report cases of ban evasion, falsified forum reports, cyber-attacks and other rule breaches. An
  103. attempt to hide such information is punishable.
  104. 5. Administration
  105. 5.1 Intervention
  106. 5.1.1 Administrators are allowed to intervene into roleplay scenarios and pause them to investigate reports.
  107. 5.1.2 Administrators are allowed to void roleplay scenarios, if server rules were broken.
  108. 5.1.3 Players are welcomed to voice their opinion but should never disobey administrators.
  109. 5.1.4 Players should report administrator abuse on the forums.
  110. 5.2 Reports and punishment appeals
  111. 5.2.1 Players should report rule breaches with the /REPORT command, if the report remains unresolved, the report
  112. case should be moved to the forums.
  113. 5.2.2 Players can submit punishment appeals on the forums to request lighter punishments or for them to be reversed.
  114. 6. Roleplay rules
  115. 6.1 IC and OOC
  116. 6.1.1 Players are required to remain in-character (IC) at all times.
  117. 6.1.2 Text chat, voice chat, radio, phone and server commands /ME, /DO and /AME are to be used only for IC content.
  118. 6.1.3 In text form, IC content must be written in grammatically correct spelling, it cannot contain smiley faces.
  119. Punctuation and capitalization are not enforced. Phone text messages are an exception to this rule.
  120. 6.1.4 For OOC content, players must use chat commands that encase the content in brackets. For example (( this is OOC
  121. content )). OOC chat commands are /OOC, /O, /B, /PM and /F.
  122. 6.2 Pause of roleplay
  123. 6.2.1 A roleplay scenario can be paused if all participants agree to pause it.
  124. 6.2.2 If a rule is broken, inform the other party through OOC and make a report with the /REPORT command, unless the
  125. situation is resolved peacefully. It is recommended to record these situations.
  126. 6.2.3 If a player’s game crashes while in an active roleplay scenario, both parties should attempt to make contact and try
  127. to resume the scenario. A player crash must never be used to put them in a disadvantage.
  128. 5
  129. 6.3 Metagaming
  130. 6.3.1 Metagaming (MG) is the act of relaying IC information through OOC methods or using OOC information in roleplay
  131. scenarios. OOC methods include third-party software, for example, Discord.
  132. 6.3.2 Mixing IC and OOC information without any benefit is a minor MG offense. For example, a player uses IC chat to talk
  133. about OOC content or calls someone by their nametag.
  134. 6.3.3 Relaying IC information through OOC methods, which benefit the player, is a major MG offense and will result in a ban.
  135. For example, a player is at gunpoint, the player uses an OOC method to call for help, as a result, the attacker is unable
  136. to detect this action and has no chance to counter it (it is unfair for the attacker).
  137. 6.3.4 Player’s camera view determines the field of vision of their character (“camera metagaming” is not enforced).
  138. 6.4 Powergaming
  139. 6.4.1 Forceful roleplay, that does not give the other player a chance to roleplay their own response is considered
  140. powergaming. For example, a player may attempt to knock the other player unconscious by roleplaying it (using the
  141. /ME command), however the other player must be given a chance to roleplay the outcome of that action.
  142. 6.4.2 Roleplay of unrealistic actions is another form of powergaming. For example, roleplay of having super powers, driving a
  143. vehicle while your character is handcuffed, shooting a weapon while your character is injured.
  144. 6.4.3 It is not allowed to input false information or lie in /DO as this roleplay command is used to explain the facts of a
  145. roleplay situation. For example, if your character is hiding a pistol and another player makes an attempt to search you, if
  146. the outcome of the search is successful, you must use /DO to state the roleplay fact that the pistol had been found.
  147. 6.4.4 Forceful server commands, such as, /HANDCUFF or /MUG are exceptions to the powergaming rule.
  148. 6.5 New life rule
  149. 6.5.1 The new life rule is triggered whenever a player’s character respawns at a hospital, the reason of death is irrelevant.
  150. However, the rule is not activated, when the injured character is brought to the hospital and revived.
  151. 6.5.2 The deceased character loses memory of their death, the events that caused it and the information collected in
  152. between those time frames. This means, that all information the victim had learned had turned into OOC information.
  153. For example, a player is confronted by a robber, the player refuses to comply and is killed by the robber. The player’s
  154. knowledge of the robbery, the robber and their death had turned into OOC information, not suitable for IC context.
  155. 6.5.3 The deceased character must avoid interaction with their killer (or killers) for 30 minutes and must not return to the
  156. area of their death, unless the killer (or killers) have left the area.
  157. 6.5.4 The deceased character must not return to the same roleplay situation, where an earlier attempt has ended in their
  158. death, even if the NLR timer is expired. For example, a player’s vehicle had been stolen, the player was able to track
  159. down the thief and made an attempt to retrieve their vehicle, but the player failed and was killed. The vehicle owner
  160. cannot make another attempt to retrieve their vehicle from the same thief.
  161. 6
  162. 6.6 Non-roleplay
  163. 6.6.1 Actions that are unrealistic or promote poor quality roleplay are considered as non-roleplay.
  164. 6.6.2 Examples of actions that are considered as non-roleplay:
  165. • Theft of a vehicle by hijacking the driver without any roleplay, when there are no circumstances to justify it, such
  166. as your character being in immediate danger of getting killed or arrested;
  167. • An attempt to provoke a police chase, without a realistic reason, also known as “cop baiting” (a realistic reason
  168. would be to divert police units away from an area, where your allies plan to commit a serious crime or are in the
  169. progress of one);
  170. • Hurting an injured player, because they ask to be killed, also known as “mercy killing” (usually done to respawn
  171. their character quicker, it’s unrealistic, because in reality people do not respawn).
  172. • Use of an expensive vehicle, such as a super car, to ram into other vehicles (players should show care and value
  173. their luxury vehicles, because they are costly to repair).
  174. 6.7 Sexual roleplay
  175. 6.7.1 Sexual roleplay is allowed only if all involved parties (participants and witnesses) have agreed to it in OOC text chat,
  176. prior to the actual roleplay.
  177. 6.8 No crime zones
  178. 6.8.1 A no crime zone (NCZ) is an area, where players must not commit crimes, that would cause harm to another player or
  179. their property. Players must not disobey orders of law enforcement officers but are allowed to run from arrest. A crime
  180. that does not harm another player or their property is defined as a victimless crime.
  181. 6.8.2 NCZs can have exceptions, that can be reviewed with the /NCZ command.
  182. 6.8.3 A player who is chased by the police or criminals may choose to drive through an NCZ. A player who is chased by
  183. criminals may hide in an NCZ, the criminals must wait for that player to leave the safety of an NCZ.
  184. 6.8.4 The purpose of the NCZ rule is to simulate heavily guarded and secure areas, where it is unrealistic to commit crimes.
  185. 6.8.5 A list of NCZ areas:
  186. ● The area around and the interior of all active law enforcement departments.
  187. ● The area around and the interior of all active hospitals.
  188. ● The area around and the interior of all active banks.
  189. ● The area around and the interior of “Tequil La La” nightclub.
  190. ● The interior of the “Yellow Jack Inn” bar.
  191. ● The area around the Los Santos International Airport new player spawn.
  192. ● The area around the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV).
  193. ● The area around and the interior of Bolingbroke Prison.
  194. 6.9 OOC and IC evidence
  195. 6.9.1 OOC evidence (videos, screenshots) can be used as IC evidence, if the footage of a crime or event had been captured by
  196. a player, whose character can be seen using the /RECORD command to hold a phone in their hand.
  197. 6.9.2 Houses and businesses can have hidden roleplay cameras, if the owner roleplays to install them and takes time stamped
  198. screenshots with /TIME of the camera angle as evidence, if they are ever disputed in the future. Valid only if done in the
  199. interior of a property and does not apply to the exterior unless there are visible camera objects.
  200. 7
  201. 6.9.3 You may roleplay a hidden camera, hidden microphone/wire, or dash camera footage in a vehicle as long as you have
  202. evidence of roleplay in the beginning of the recording and the ending, and it cannot be edited in between starting and
  203. stopping recording. This evidence must be able to be provided in the event of a dispute. If this is being roleplayed, and
  204. someone frisks you, you should let them know they would find the wire or camera.
  205. 7. PvP rules
  206. 7.1 Fear roleplay
  207. 7.1.1 Fear roleplay is the concept of roleplaying fear for your character’s life in situations where your safety is in immediate
  208. danger when the attacker is in a position to quickly end your life at will. This can come in a form of having a weapon
  209. aimed at your character’s head at close range, where reaching for your own weapon would result in you being killed
  210. instantly, or where your life is in direct danger and any attempt to resist would result in your immediate death.
  211. 7.1.2 Examples, where your character’s life is considered to be in direct danger:
  212. • When you are on foot and a weapon is aimed at you at close range;
  213. • When the engine of your vehicle is stalled and a weapon is aimed at you at close range;
  214. • When the attacker lowers their weapon to write a roleplay response, your life remains in direct danger;
  215. 7.1.3 Examples, where your character’s life is NOT considered to be in direct danger:
  216. • When you are in a vehicle which engine is not stalled;
  217. • When you have a firearm drawn prior to the other person aiming their weapon at you;
  218. • When the attacker’s view is obstructed by an object or when they are distracted and turn their back on you;
  219. 7.1.4 As a victim, whose life is in direct danger:
  220. • You must display reasonable value for your life and comply with the demands of your attacker;
  221. • You cannot call 911, call your friends or allies to aid you, because that would be failure to comply;
  222. 7.2 Deathmatch
  223. 7.2.1 Deathmatch is the act of killing or hurting another player (or damaging their property) without a proper roleplay reason.
  224. An attempt to break this rule will result in a temporary or permanent ban.
  225. 7.2.2 Examples of valid reasons to attack another player:
  226. • If they attempt to harm, hurt you or damage your property (or if they attempt to do the same to your friends or
  227. allies), this also includes an attempt by the police to arrest someone;
  228. • If they report you to the police for a committed heavy crime, however, if someone reports you for a light crime,
  229. such as illegal parking, then the reason is insufficient;
  230. • If they are not in compliance with the demands or if they attempt to escape or call other players for help;
  231. 7.2.3 A player cannot kill their victim, if the victim is in compliance with the demands.
  232. 7.2.4 A player must allow their victim enough time to comply with the demands and warn the victim more than one time, if
  233. the victim is too slow to respond or react to the demands.
  234. 7.2.5 A player cannot force their victim to kill someone, if the enforcer does not have a valid reason to kill that someone.
  235. 8
  236. 7.3 Vehicle deathmatch
  237. 7.3.1 Vehicle deathmatch is identical to deathmatch, however, the rule explains how vehicles should not be used as weapons.
  238. 7.3.2 A vehicle cannot be used to repeatedly force a player into a ragdoll state, for example, it cannot be used to knock the
  239. player down on the ground multiple times or to park a vehicle on top of them.
  240. 7.3.3 If there is a valid reason to attack someone, a vehicle may be used once (a failed attempt counts) to knock the other
  241. player on the ground.
  242. 7.3.4 If there are multiple players on a scene, the driver can hit each one of them only once, however, the driver is given only
  243. one attempt to do it. This means, that a vehicle cannot be used to drive through a scene multiple times with the
  244. purpose of hitting more players.
  245. 7.4 Kill on sight
  246. 7.4.1 Kill on sight (KoS) is the act of killing a player with no engagement in roleplay.
  247. 7.4.2 A player is allowed to KoS someone, only for specific reasons, that are not older than 24 real world hours, and if the
  248. new life rule is followed.
  249. 7.4.3 KoS is allowed for these specific reasons:
  250. • Your life was threatened in the past (ex.: in a robbery, a combat situation or a hostage situation);
  251. • The life of your friend or ally is threatened at the present or if you have witnessed it happen in the past;
  252. • There is an attempt to steal your valuables, or those of your group, if the value of theft is not less than $75.000
  253. (this point excludes vehicles);
  254. 7.5 Robberies and scamming
  255. 7.5.1 Players can rob other players by either roleplaying it or by forcing them to raise their hands and using the /MUG
  256. command. There is no limit to how much money or items you can take during a robbery.
  257. 7.5.2 Players cannot force their victims to withdraw money from an ATM. Under no circumstances can a criminal force their
  258. victims to sell property, such as, houses, vehicles or businesses.
  259. 7.5.3 Players cannot force their victims to hand over assets that are not present in the area of the robbery. This means, that a
  260. robber cannot move their victim to another part of town to steal more property.
  261. 7.5.4 Players may trick their victims into delivering their valuables to a specified location and rob them afterwards, however,
  262. the scam value must not exceed $15.000. Scammers cannot not lie to their victims in OOC form.
  263. 7.5.5 Players cannot rob, scam or steal from new player who are under 1000XP. However, new players lose their protection,
  264. if they try to commit the same crimes against other players.
  265. 7.5.6 Players are allowed to loot inventories of injured players without additional roleplay, because the server handles /AME
  266. notifications and injured players are in no condition to resist.
  267. 9
  268. 7.6 Assassinations
  269. 7.6.1 A player may hire another player to assassinate someone only, if the client is allowed to kill the victim in accordance
  270. with the KoS conditions. The client is responsible for the validity of information given to the assassin.
  271. 7.6.2 Both client and assassin must be able to provide OOC evidence to prove the existence of their contract, when asked by
  272. an administrator.
  273. 7.6.3 After a failed or successful assassination attempt, the assassin must inform the victim in OOC chat that they were an
  274. assassination contract target.
  275. 7.6.4 If the assassin is killed (NLR is triggered), the assassination contract is terminated.
  276. 7.7 Hostage rules
  277. 7.7.1 Players are allowed to kidnap or to take other players hostage for these specific reasons:
  278. • You have a roleplay reason to kill the victim in accordance with the KoS rule;
  279. • You were hired as an assassin and the victim is your contract target;
  280. • The victim is a member of another criminal faction (however, it gives their faction reason to declare war);
  281. • If you attempt to commit robbery (ex.: general stores, banks), you are allowed to take other players hostage for
  282. the duration of the robbery as insurance in case the police arrive. An NPC is not a valid hostage;
  283. 7.8 Combat and roleplay logging
  284. 7.8.1 Players must not disconnect from a roleplay situation to avoid negative IC consequences. If you crash, you must
  285. reconnect to the server and inform the other parties and attempt to resume the roleplay scenario.
  286. 7.8.2 In a situation, where a player’s game crashes or the player is kicked from the server, they should be allowed to have the
  287. same advantages as they have had before their leave.
  288. 7.9 Faction and turf rules
  289. 7.9.1 A player cannot use the faction management script to destroy a faction, because it is an OOC management system.
  290. 7.9.2 A player may steal from their faction treasury, but the amount may not exceed the amount specified in the scamming
  291. rule. Theft can be repeated every 24 (real world) hours.
  292. 7.9.3 Government funded faction members must not abuse the salary system, members of these factions should go off-duty
  293. when they are not performing their faction duties.
  294. 7.9.4 Criminal faction members are permitted to kill their enemies on sight ONLY, if their enemies had attempted to capture
  295. their turf within the last 30 minutes or are in the process of capturing one. Enemies MUST be located within a turf
  296. owned by the defenders.
  297. 7.9.5 A criminal faction cannot declare war on another criminal faction without a good roleplay reason. A turf war is not a
  298. valid reason. A war declaration must be declared against specific members of the enemy faction and roleplay reasons
  299. must be provided.
  300. 7.9.6 An alliance is not a valid reason to declare an offensive war. Allies may defend turfs as well as protect allied players
  301. from harm. This does not require them to declare war against the attacker. Faction allies may not attempt to drain turf
  302. health, unless they are at war with the owner themselves.
