- Doritos-style chips:
- Ingredients:
- 1 cup masa harina (corn flour)
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
- 1/4 cup water
- Vegetable oil for frying
- Instructions:
- 1. In a mixing bowl, combine the masa harina, salt, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper. Mix well to evenly distribute the spices.
- 2. Gradually add the water to the dry mixture, stirring as you go. Continue adding water until the dough comes together and forms a ball. The dough should be pliable but not too sticky. Adjust with a little more water or masa harina if needed.
- 3. Divide the dough into smaller portions and roll them out between two sheets of parchment paper until they are very thin. The thinner you roll them, the crispier the chips will be.
- 4. Use a sharp knife or a pizza cutter to cut the rolled dough into triangle shapes, mimicking the Doritos style.
- 5. Heat vegetable oil in a deep pot or frying pan to about 350°F (175°C).
- 6. Carefully drop a few triangles of dough into the hot oil at a time. Fry for about 1-2 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown and crisp.
- 7. Remove the chips from the oil using a slotted spoon and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil.
- 8. While the chips are still warm, you can sprinkle a bit more salt or your preferred seasonings over them.
- Done :)
