  1. Trying to convert S-Video to Component (original post)
  2.
  3. **Before reading: I apologize if this is in the wrong sub. I couldn't find any cable troubleshooting subreddits or forums, so this was my best bet. I'll be happy to move it to a more appropriate subreddit if need be.**
  4.
  5. I'll make this as quick as possible.
  6.
  7. I want to use S-Video since it looks better than Composite, however my TV doesn't have S-Video. So I did some research, and bought some stuff that would help me convert S-Video into Component video since it should keep the same high quality video.
  8.
  9. This is how I set it up:
  10.
  11. Retron 3 -> S-Video Cable -> S-Video Female/Female Coupler -> 4-pin S-Video to 7-pin S-Video adapter\* -> S-Video to Component adapter -> Component Cable -> TV
  12.
  13. \*The cable (and the input on the console) was 4-pin, while the converter was 7-pin, so I had to buy an extra adapter to convert it.
  14.
  15. The 4-pin to 7-pin adapter arrived today, so I was super excited to try it out. Did the setup above switched my TV to component, and... nothing. Nothing showed up. I had a game in, and I was switched to the right console, but nothing appeared. I'm completely stumped, I don't know what went wrong. The connectors seem to be fine, everything was plugged in as tight as possible, the power was on as well.
  16.
  17. Is it impossible to convert S-Video to Component? Do I need to use something different?
  18.
  19. I was originally going to get an S-Video to Composite converter, however I assumed that would defeat the purpose of upgrading to S-Video if it would just be composite again.
  20.
  21. Any help is appreciated, I can provide extra info if needed as well.
