- It was bad enough losing to the Orlando Magic in the playoffs last season.
- But now to copy their uniforms?
- Yecch!
- That was the predominant response among the Bulls to the team's new road uniforms--black with red pinstripes--that were unveiled against the Magic here Tuesday night.
- "I liked the old uniforms," said Michael Jordan, "but they didn't ask me. It does look like Orlando a little bit."
- A little too much for Steve Kerr. "Don't ask me about the new uniforms. I'll get in trouble if I say what I really think."
- But then Kerr did.
- "We should not have to copy Orlando," said Kerr, who acknowledged the additional road uniform was merely a marketing ploy to produce sales of more merchandise. "I'm sure they'll sell a million in Chicago, but I wish those pinstripes weren't in there.
- "I'm a traditionalist. My favorite uniforms are the Yankees, the Dodgers, the Celtics--teams that don't change. Can you imagine the Celtics with green and white pinstripes?"
- "It gives us a real kind of jail-yard look," said coach Phil Jackson. "But it's how you play when you're in them."
- "OK with me," said Scottie Pippen. "It's just another way to raise money."
