- Retrieval
- Derek: So, uh, why are we going this way..? Town is the other way.
- Orion: There's a place right outside the forest that you're probably unfamiliar with.
- Derek: But I know this entire area...
- Orion: Are you sure?? Because we've reached our destination. *points as they walk out of the forest*
- Derek: Yeah but-- *look at the area and stops* That's... My old home... Where it used to be...
- Orion: Really? What happened?
- Derek: I may have sort of killed my family in a fire-- Ok! Let's check out this area!!
- Orion: Wait. What? Huh?? How did--oh alright let's search around.
- Derek: *goes to just inside where the doorway was* This place... *goes to the kitchen and then to his bedroom remains* I...
- Orion: Alright... *cracks knuckles which start to glow red* Let's start by going *flames engulf his arm as he slams a fist into the ground* DOWN! *the entire floor is scorched and blasted away in an explosion of flame*
- (A locked stone cellar is revealed with a gear pattern is on it)
- Orion: ...Hmm, how to overcome this one?
- Derek: Um... *necklace is glowing* what...
- Orion: What? Wait is that...? Quick give me your necklace!
- Derek: Uh...ok? *removes necklace and hands it to Orion*
- Orion: (in shock) No way! This is exactly what we needed! It's exactly like the gear on the cellar!
- Derek: This is my grandfather's necklace, that glows apparently, that now has something to do with getting a weapon? Makes sense. I guess.
- Orion: *places it on the door* *the necklace latches itself to the gear and starts spinning, revealing the entrance*
- Orion: In we go.
- (The two enter going down a long passageway of steps eventually reaching a large opening with a glaive encircled with energy)
- Orion: This is the weapon I was referring to earlier.
- Derek: Sweet! *starts to go after it but Orion grabs his collar*
- Orion: Stop! Things like these have protection spells all over them.
- Derek: I thought getting here was supposed to be its protection.
- Orion: It is, to a minor extent. I would have been able to get us in here with enough enchantments. Probably.
- Derek: You mean you didn't even know if we could get in?!
- Orion: I knew we could get in...it just would've been irresponsible without the key.
- Derek: What do you mean irresponsible?
- Orion: Well, this weapon was entrusted to whoever lived here, but nobody lives here anymore since the place burned down. Presumably, the key would've been here along with some corpses.
- Derek: You do realize what you're saying right...
- Orion: Words? You act like this would've been stealing. This technically is not theirs to keep, like I said before it was entrusted to your family.
- Derek: Entrusted? Why have I never heard about this? And by who?
- Orion: By the king! How do you think I know about it?
- Derek: What exactly do you mean?
- Orion: Since we never properly introduced ourselves to each other, how about I start. I'm Prince Orion Altair, of Aether.
- Derek: ...Now I'm really confused.
- Orion: Don't be, why not introduce yourself too Mr. Elian.
- Derek: How do you know my last name?
- Orion: You said this was your old home and you killed your family in a fire, didn't you? My father was not particularly happy about that.
- Derek: ...my name is Derek.
- Orion: Better! Now how about that glaive. You see, it was part of a debt with the Elian family. They were more or less the creators of this weapon, with my ancestors help.
- Orion: At the time they were part of the council of fourteen, which eventually disbanded after the creation of the legendary weapons which were kept by my family.
- Orion: You see eventually your family got involved with a clan, and your family demanded this glaive back, in an attempt to overcome them. The king obliged, however it was at a cost. He demanded that the son who bears the mark be killed, because he would have the power to make a huge destructive change, with help.
- Orion: Eventually, the son was born but he never was killed, despite the attempts. Later on, the son in a twist of fate became the last survivor of his family after their brutal deaths. Sound familiar? At least the last part.
- Derek: It's...me? But I have no power at all, no way. You've got the wrong guy.
- Orion: Okay. If I do, tell me when was the last time you removed the necklace from your person.
- Derek: Uh...I've never taken it off until we came here and you told me to, if I were to before my father would yell at me and make sure I kept it on.
- Orion: Why do you think that is?
- Derek: No clue.
- Orion: Tell me, have you ever attempted to use magic before.
- Derek: Too many times, all of them failed. I failed so much my family became convinced I was completely worthless.
- Orion: You see that glaive over there? Watch this. *runs at the glaive and suddenly seems to go slower and slower as he approaches it eventually appearing to go at slow motion and eventually stopping*
- Derek: Orion?!?! *runs over to Orion but starts to go slower as well*
- Derek: It's like...it's like time is slowing down! It feels like...swimming through gel. *puts hands in front of him as if doing a butterfly stroke and separates them* *he starts to move back to a more normal pace*
- Derek: What...? *continues to do this until he reaches the glaive which he then with great difficulty retrieves*
- (Time goes back to normal)
- Orion: *slumps to the floor, out of breath* Great job...any longer and I would've been sent back...
- Derek: *stares at hands in awe* But...how?
- Orion: *starting to get back up* Does my tale seem so ridiculous now?
- Derek: I can use magic?!
- Orion: Yes, Derek, you can use magic that's not the point.
- Derek: I'M NOT USELESS!
- Orion: *can't help but smile a bit* I'm glad you're happy, but you still need to learn it.
- Derek: You teach me?
- Orion: Uh...
- Derek: Oriiiiiiiiiiiiion, pleeeeeeeeeease?
- Orion: =|
- Orion: I am pretty sure I specifically stated that me getting you a weapon was what I was going to do. And I did.
- Derek: But I want to help you!
- Orion: Help me? Where did you get the idea I needed help.
- Derek: You were passed out in the edge of the forest...
- Orion: Oh. Right.
- Derek: Why were you there?
- Orion: I do not owe any answers to someone I just met about an hour ago.
- Derek: True...but. I saw some people nearby when I found you, they seemed to be looking for someone.
- Orion: No...
- Derek: Maybe I should try finding them!
- Orion: *starts to panic* Alright, alright! Fine. I'll tell you why I was there... *sits down*
- Derek: *sits down as well*
- Orion: *explains to Derek the fact that he cast a spell out of a forbidden tome, blew up part of the castle, ran into the witch and almost died escaping and passed out in the forest*
- Orion: And so...now I'm on the run from my own kingdom because of her. By now she's probably taken the throne as Queen. And...well never mind that part. (Thinking) I still have no idea what that /thing/ was that came out of the tome... I've never been so terrified of something in my life...
- Derek: Hmm... See now I just want to help you even more!
- Orion: Why. There's nothing in it for you.
- Derek: You seem really cool, plus nobody's ever been this nice to me.
- Orion: I am not nice.
- Derek: Sure you are, you brought me here to get a weapon, taught me about my family, and you showed me I have potential. I want to live up to it. (Quietly) Plus you didn't beat me up at all so that's a plus.
- Orion: What if I still say no.
- Derek: Please don't... I really want to learn from you. Besides, if you teach me, I can help you fight!
- Orion: *ponders it for a moment*
- Orion: Okay.
- Orion: I /may/ teach, you under one condition.
- Derek: And that would be..?
- Orion: *draws sword* Survive in battle against me.
