a rare occasion,
I was getting new shoes that day,
I liked them without laces,
It was huge,
I’ve always had a wide foot,
The swap meet was a chaotic, colorful place that I enjoyed going to a lot,
easier to slip on and off,
and I have to admit, they fit better.
We were hopeful to find them there,
Family outings were a big deal growing up, It meant that Dad had the day off,
so we started browsing.
vendors of different types,and lots and lots of yummy food.
and although we searched everywhere for a new pair, we never saw them again
This day in particular we went to the swap meet.
Then I heard my sister's voice
there was tons to see and do, all in one location.
and shoes were tricky for a fat kid like me.
I feared that someone else would buy the last pair in my size.
