  3. A short piece on religious hypocrisy.
  4.
  5. Recently I attended church. Recently being two days ago - Christmas Eve.
  6. It was the first time I had been to church for the visibly religious aspect since I was a child, and I only attended Sunday School (twice), if I recall correctly.
  7.
  8. I had been to many churches throughout my 21 year old life, but since childhood, I believe it was solely to participate in the union of two: weddings. Now, let’s set aside the problem of “Holy Wars” such as the crusades of old, or The Great Schisms. Also, let’s set aside the persecution of Jews throughout history, by the adherents of the Abrahamic religions, even though Jesus “himself” was a Jew. Further, let’s set aside that these religions supplanted and stole from Paganism, Greek/Roman beliefs, and whatever the fuck else. I’m sorry but I don’t feel like googling right now.
  9.
  10. Let’s just focus on the problems of today.
  11. Let’s look at the wars between and within religions whether Abrahamic or not. Muslims killing Muslims. Christians killing Muslims and vice-versa. And everyone killing Jews (still? You’re basically continuing Hitler’s Nazi Regime; Heil, mein Führer!).
  12. Let’s look at the sacred bond of marriage being riddled with increasing rates of divorce. “LOL, let’s swear to stay together til death do us part - wait, sike!”
  13.
  14. Basically, let’s consider the fact that the large majority of us/"you people” (I’m not going to include myself because I do not identify with any religion) are terrible fucking hypocrites. Yes I’m a hypocrite, perhaps worse than most, but at least I don’t hide behind religion. Let’s break all the rules of our religion, but continue to say we are followers of them. Let’s change the interpretation and meaning of our religion to coincide with our desires and vices.
  15.
  16. Let’s all be fucking idiots.
  17.
  18. For all the “good” that religion brings, humanism/something else (I clearly don’t know my philosophy shit too well) incorporating the positives of religion seems to be a superior choice.
  19. All of the good, without any of the bullshit, I believe. I’m actually too tired and flustered to delve deep into the bullshit. No one is going to read this anyway.
  20.
  21. I’m not even sure what my goal is anymore. At the end of the day, I just want to say that your religion, written by man, is bullshit, somewhere along the lines, or everywhere. Regardless, you will reject my thinking because a) you’re an idiot, or b) I’m attacking your stupid beliefs rather than using good rhetoric/persuasion. Oh, alternative option c) both a and b.
  22.
  23. Sure, you can believe in a God. You can also not believe in a God. Neither belief seems viable, as there is no definitive proof in either direction, hence my agnostic stance. The bible nor any ancient text is proof, by the way, and if you even thought that for a second, well, I guess it’s to be expected. I come off as arrogant, but I only wish to free you from your delusions.
  24.
  25. God/gods cannot be in everyone’s favour at once: the late, great comedian George Carlin said it much better than I. It is infinitely better to believe in humanity, than it is to believe in what could easily be make believe. “Religion is the opiate of the masses.” It serves some good, but overall, it is poison and only results in detriment. The false dreamy lull results in (I’ll consider moral/but actually all forms of) deterioration and unfortunate and needless death.
  26.
  27. Consider your contradictions, and feel free to point out mine. We are all indoctrinated with bullshit. Acquiring knowledge and the usage of our innate intelligence is our road to Freedom. It in and of itself is the promised land.
