  3. Chloe has connected.
  4. Kaorin Sakura has connected.
  5. DNA has connected.
  6. Kaorin Sakura: Does anyone need time to edit anything?
  7. DNA: I got my edits in on Monday, right before you closed the server
  8. Chloe Blanchett: Holiday Sprite Updated.
  9. Kaorin Sakura: Ava?
  10. DNA: heh, a Platinum edit
  11. Kaorin Sakura: Did she get pulled away as soon as we got here?
  12. Kaorin Sakura: Well, she can come back to backlog.
  13. Kaorin Sakura: Anyone want to do a recap of last wee---Mondays events?
  14. Avara: sorry, what?
  15. DNA: I can make one quick.
  16. DNA: After spending the night in Esterhedge, and finishing up some last minute errands,
  17. Avara: was looking away for stuff. >>
  18. DNA: the Pokemon of Winter Lotus noticed some tracks leading away from the village! that apparently no human noticed.
  19. Avara: anyway... i think i'm good.
  20. DNA: We followed them to this hill, where the good doctor was living with his wife and newborn child.
  21. DNA: After getting more information about the plague of Vertwyvern (Firesong) from them, and suggesting they stop by Fairview to raise their child,
  22. DNA: off we were, with me having successfully predicted the encounter gen would roll a 98
  23. Avara: confirmed, i'm good i did my updates at the end of last session.
  24. DNA: And thus...here we are today on IT'S CHRISTMAAAAAAAAAAS!
  25. Kaorin Sakura: Oh yeah. It is Christmas. I keep forgetting.
  26. Eclipse: Not sure if this means much of anything, but for whatever reason, I am unable to copy and paste tokens. Hoping I won't have to do that, but if it does, don't be aware if I may be held up.
  27. Eclipse: DNA can just fine. I can't, right now. Hopefully it will not be an issue.
  28. Kaorin Sakura: Not sure why.
  29. * Avara hugs everyone
  30. Eclipse: Nor am I. But carry on.
  31. Kaorin Sakura: Gimme a moment.
  32. Avara: merry christmas once again
  33. Kaorin Sakura: I should have a low-end artefact generator somewhere.
  34. * DNA is personally hoping for one that grants a Grass-immunity, but that would be silly
  35. Kaorin Sakura: Hmm...
  36. Each of you select a letter.
  37. Avara: A
  38. DNA: 15
  39. DNA: O!
  40. DNA: dammit why was it a vowel.
  41. Kaorin Sakura: Second question (as Rob seems to be distracted)
  42. Kaorin Sakura: Consumable or no?
  43. DNA: No
  44. Avara: no.
  45. Chloe Blanchett: no
  46. Chloe Blanchett: (not sure why you thought I was distracted)
  47. Avara: pick a vowel
  48. Avara: sorry
  49. Avara: letter
  50. Avara: pick a letter
  51. Chloe Blanchett: L
  52. DNA: AOL
  53. DNA: Well that was awkward
  54. Avara: in order, too. geez.
  55. Kaorin Sakura: Hrm...well. This is an interesting Artefact for you, Ava. I dunno if you can use it.
  56. Avara: let's see it.
  57. Kaorin Sakura: It's the only generated non-consumable A-letter artefact.
  58. Kaorin Sakura: Also: Please note this Artefact's won't have listed Value's.
  59. DNA: Aegis?
  60. Kaorin Sakura: And I will be whispering it to people.
  61. Avara: 'k.
  62. Kaorin Sakura: Okay, now to find DNA's. Non-consumable.
  63. Kaorin Sakura: Does comsumable matter to you, Rob?
  64. DNA: That was quite a long description.
  65. DNA: He said no
  66. Kaorin Sakura: I had to find something.
  67. Kaorin Sakura: I forgot the name of a thing.
  68. Kaorin Sakura: thanks
  69. Eclipse: He wants a non-consumable. Sorry, forgot to clarify.
  70. Kaorin Sakura: Hah. There's only one non-consumable one here too.
  71. Kaorin Sakura: And it's funny.
  72. Avara: unfortunately, i am 1 spirit short. if permitted i could rearrange my BMS ever-so-slightly. hmm.
  73. Eclipse: Under O or L?
  74. Kaorin Sakura: Go ahead, Ava.
  75. Kaorin Sakura: O
  76. Eclipse: ...huh. How interesting.
  77. DNA is disconnected.
  78. Avara: i don't have the requisite skill yet, but that could be something gained soon instead.
  79. Avara: ... ro is now a ninja who wields a harp in battle.
  80. Avara: not as a weapon, but for magical effects
  81. Avara: rochette has something in common with sheik now.
  82. Eclipse: Go ahead and whisper the one for Rob. I'll catch up.
  83. DNA has connected.
  84. Kaorin Sakura: Now to find a non-consumable L.
  85. Kaorin Sakura: Oooh, there's only two L's. And both non-consumable.
  86. Avara: convenient
  87. Eclipse: hey ava
  88. Eclipse: would you believe that I also got a harp?
  89. Avara: baps?
  90. Eclipse: what does baps mean?
  91. Avara: fistbump?
  92. Eclipse: ah
  93. Kaorin Sakura: Nvm, there's only one non-consumable L item.
  94. * Eclipse fistbump
  95. Eclipse: inb4 that one is also a harp
  96. * Avara fistbump!
  97. Kaorin Sakura: It's not.
  98. Eclipse: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
  99. Chloe Blanchett: brb
  100. Chloe Blanchett: the mouse stopped working
  101. Chloe Blanchett: only way to fix is a reset
  102. Avara: D=
  103. Chloe is disconnected.
  104. Kaorin Sakura: ...
  105. Chloe has connected.
  106. Chloe: got it!
  107. Chronicler: You each find these items in your inventory attached with a note - Merry Christmas.
  108. Rochette: "Hm... I'll have to practice with this, when I've got the time." She plucks a few notes on the oceanic harp, holding it awkwardly. "Do you think they got slipped into our packs when we left town?"
  109. Chronicler: Description: Cloudy
  110. Temperature: Cold
  111. High: 36°F (2°C)
  112. Low: 26°F (-4°C)
  113. Relative: Warmer than normal
  114. Wind Force: Light Wind: A gentle breeze, having little or no game effect.
  115. Wind Speed: 2 mph (3 kph) February 11th, 1549. 14:45 Wednesday
  116. Saturn Rosewell: "Wait, what?"
  117. * Saturn Rosewell hadn't noticed anything new in her bag, nor was Natasha or even Finch out and about to alert her. She looked, and...sure enough, there was this green harp with gold strings and ruby-engraved frame.
  118. Saturn Rosewell: "Wh-Whaaaaa...!?"
  119. Saturn Rosewell: "...I need to find who this belongs to...! I don't want to be labeled a thief!"
  120. Rochette: "Eh... we won't be sticking around in one place long enough to get fingered for it, most likely. We don't stand out -that- much yet."
  121. Chloe Blanchett: "It says 'merry christmas'" on it. Chloe said, holding a small note.
  122. Saturn Rosewell: "I hope not...I really don't want to stand out as anything."
  123. Chloe Blanchett: "Maybe it's from Nylora and the others.."
  124. Saturn Rosewell: "They can teleport items into our bags too!?"
  125. Saturn Rosewell: "...trying not to freak out..." Saturn started taking slow, deep breaths.
  126. Rochette: "They're magic immortals whom we freed from everlasting torment by diving into a secret underground prison-ruin. This... honestly isn't as weird as half the things we saw down there."
  127. Chloe Blanchett: "Maybe it wasn't them. ... The only chance someone had was in Esterhedge, or maybe Doctor Normal slipped them to us while we weren't paying attention."
  128. Saturn Rosewell: "I suppose not. I am just really not used to the weird. Or fond of it."
  129. Chloe Blanchett: *Doctor Normam
  130. Chloe Blanchett: *NORMAN
  131. Chloe Blanchett: *finally
  132. Rochette: ((we're not in hoenn. yet. or anymore, in saturn's case.))
  133. DNA: hahahahahahaha
  134. DNA: I see what you did there
  135. Chloe Blanchett: "These look like they'll be hard to get in." Chloe lifted one of the lenses. "I've never used contacts before."
  136. Rochette: "Best to try before we get into the town proper."
  137. Saturn Rosewell: "Do you have special eyes, Chloe?"
  138. Chloe Blanchett: "No, why do you ask?"
  139. Chronicler: The village of Vertwyvern is nearly deserted. There's a church, a pub, an inn, three shops, a residential district, the road to the mines, a crop field and an area full of a variety of field Pokemon.
  140. There's a single woman tending to the crops with no one else walking the village.
  141. Rochette: (("My brand!"))
  142. DNA: You do care!
  143. Saturn Rosewell: "Just curious, I guess..."
  144. Chloe Blanchett: "I have good eyesight, or at least I'm good at noticing things."
  145. Saturn Rosewell: "...This is...a pretty dismal place..."
  146. Rochette: "Comes with the territory of a plague, doesn't it? Tragedy doesn't really breed joyous atmosphere."
  147. * Rochette slides the oceanic harp into her pack, adjusting her other weapons before walking towards the crop-tender. "Excuse me, miss?"
  148. Orlena Greaves: Orlena Greaves looks up from her crops, her hair sticky with sweat and the beads trickling down her face despite the cold weather, "...?"
  149. Orlena Greaves: (( Quick! To Cast for shared imaging! ))
  150. DNA: Knew that was going to happen. I'm there.
  151. Orlena Greaves: Handout (click this)
  152. Rochette: "We're from a couple towns over, here to see if there's anything we can do about the sickness."
  153. Orlena Greaves: Orlena Greaves's eyes grow wide with disbelief. She drops the basket she's holding, letting the vegetables she's gathered spill to the ground as she rises to her feet, "?! Truly?! Truly?!" She reaches out to hold you but stops herself, obviously not wanting to touch you, "You're here to help?!"
  154. * Saturn Rosewell was standing a little ways back from Rochette, listening in, but keeping a distance.
  155. * Rochette nods. "We've heard a bit about the problem... anything you can tell us would be helpful. We heard from the doctor who was here before, and it sounds like our best option would be to go after the source, in the mines. On your end... try to filter any water before you touch it. Avoid contact with anyone who's ill unless you're taking medical precaution. Filter any water you use before dumping it as well, to avoid infecting people to the south."
  156. Orlena Greaves: Orlena Greaves blinked a few times, "Filter...? Filter it how? With what?"
  157. Rochette: "You might be able to... hm." (survival check relevant?)
  158. Orlena Greaves: (( Nah. Go ahead. ))
  159. Rochette: survival.
  160. Saturn Rosewell: Could I make a medicine check to that? since it'd have to do with preventing contagion spread.
  161. Orlena Greaves: (( I was saying nah go ahead with your thought. ))
  162. Rochette: ((ah. as you yourself say, it's best to actually say the thing.))
  163. Orlena Greaves: (( Yes. It is. : 3 ))
  164. Rochette: "It might be possible to jury-rig a mechanism using clean cloths, coffee filters, things of that nature."
  165. Orlena Greaves: (( @DNA, you were gonna make a medicine check for...? ))
  166. DNA: Seeing what kind of thing or things might be good filters.
  167. Orlena Greaves: "Coffee filters...?"
  168. Orlena Greaves: (( Go ahead. ))
  169. DNA: I succeed in pushing the envelope!
  170. Saturn Rosewell: Medicine Edu 4d6+2 !
  171. Chloe Blanchett: "Making sure to boil it, even if it will only be used as bathwater."
  172. Orlena Greaves: (( I'll include Ava with her survival. ))
  173. Chloe Blanchett: "Though our expertise is in investigation. We have reason the resurgance of this disease involves with something underground, because it's spreading through well water and those who go into the mines. Was there any recent discoveries or new mineral veins found in the mines before this epidemic broke out?"
  174. Rochette: "Ah... I remember something that'd be good. It might seem a little counter-intuitive at first, but it'll help. You still might want to boil the cleaned water afterwards, just to be safe. It... might be best if I set it up myself, to avoid contaminating it."
  175. Orlena Greaves: "I-It's in the water...?! Oh Arceus...! We're all dead..."
  176. Saturn Rosewell: "...You could probably create a filter using small rocks, gravel, charcoal, grass, or some cotton clothing. You could probably use a cloth as well, though it wouldn't be as effective. ...It'd be rudimentary, but it's better than nothing unless you get a mechanical filter..."
  177. Rochette: "It -could- be in the water. That's why we want you to set up filters and the like. We're still planning to eliminate the source, if there is one. The disease itself is... allegedly simple to cure, but it re-infects too easily."
  178. Orlena Greaves: "I-If there was a new vein or mineral found the disease took our men from us before anything was said. And we had to keep them from choking to death on their own blood so..."
  179. DNA whispers: You can create a filter using small rocks, gravel, charcoal or grass or cotton clothing. This is a multi-level filter. Using only a cloth condensed in a small area, forcing the water to travel through the cloth and out of a small opening is a single layer filter. Any other filtration system, save for a mechanical one, would unlikely filter the water well enough. These are slow-filtration systems however.
  180. Chloe Blanchett: Chloe folded her arms and considered. "... are there any men left in the village who would know what's going on in the mine? Or any office we might find a paperwork clue?"
  181. * Rochette will put together the filters while we talk. Will the relevant materials be immediately available?
  182. Orlena Greaves: (( They won't. You'll need to gather them and explain where it comes from. There isn't much left in the village. You could use your own supplies. ))
  183. Finch: How good am I for a cotton filter?
  184. Avara: no.
  185. Finch: damn, didn't think so.
  186. Avara: you might be a viable cotton SOURCE, however.
  187. Orlena Greaves: "The only man uninfected is Father Thome. And since the infection he's limited contact to him. The one who was the head of the mining operation was my husband and he's in no better condition than the others."
  188. * Rochette checks her sleeping bag to see if it is made of delicious cotton-y goodness.
  189. Saturn Rosewell: "Do you know what's unique about this Father Thome that's made him immune? Or has the infection just not gotten to him yet?"
  190. Orlena Greaves: (( Did you buy a sleeping bag? ))
  191. Avara: yes
  192. Chloe Blanchett: "There was a doctor we spoke to, Dr. Norman. He said treating the illness was easy enough, it was stopping the continuous infection that was the hard part."
  193. Avara: ... question. do Full Heals affect illnesses?
  194. Orlena Greaves: (( No. And nothing in core will. ))
  195. DNA: "I knew that would have been too easy."
  196. * DNA goes back to quietude, for now.
  197. Orlena Greaves: "I'll bet the source is in the mines. That's where everyone first got it."
  198. Avara: ok, so. cotton potentially from the sleeping bag. grass could be gotten relatively easily. gravel and small rocks could also potentially be found on the ground, perhaps.
  199. Chronicler: Small rocks, yes. Gravel no. Grass yes, though it will be dry. And anything you want to take from your sleeping bag will ruin it.
  200. Chloe Blanchett: "I wish there was a way to investigate without instant infection ourselves."
  201. Finch: even if I put back cotton later!?
  202. Avara: sleeping bags are made of more than cotton. so if i harvest my sleeping bag, how many units of material can i get from it? and would finch be able to quickly provide cotton material for the filter as an alternative?
  203. Chronicler: I'm going to be a stickler here about items and their resources. If you want to takke soemthing from an item, essentially de-crafting it for 'parts' it will render the item broken and/or worthless. Cottonee could provide partial material for a re-crafting of a sleeping bag.
  204. Chronicler: Actually, let me check cottonee real quick.
  205. Chronicler: Actually, I take that back. Cottonee does not have threaded (and thus cannot spew cotton from itself as a source of material) and the parts of its body I will say cannot be used for crafting.
  206. Chloe Blanchett: "Is your husband in any condition to speak? As far as our information goes, this infection spreads through touch so speaking with him should be safe."
  207. Avara: okay. so, slaughtering the sleeping bag it is.
  208. Finch: ;-;
  209. Chronicler: So, if you desynthesize your item for materials, it will break the item and give you a quarter of its weight in that material.
  210. Chronicler: So, a sleeping bag averages at 3.5 lbs (as far as my research goes) and will give you...
  211. Chronicler: 0.8 lbs. of cotton.
  212. Finch: gut response: no Ava, don't do it!
  213. Avara: and how many units will it take to--why? they need a filter even if we finish the source off
  214. Orlena Greaves: "Anyone infected right now can't speak."
  215. Avara: how many units will it take to aid the filter? 0.1?
  216. Orlena Greaves: (( Alternatively, if anyone wanted to they can attempt to craft a Water Filter using Tech edu. ))
  217. Orlena Greaves: (( I'll allow it with the update being around the corner. ))
  218. Finch: Can I Tech Edu for that? It'd be like 2 birds with 1 stone!
  219. Avara: she just said tech edu
  220. Avara: so... yes
  221. Saturn Rosewell: "They can't speak? ...that bad?"
  222. Orlena Greaves: (( Go ahead. ))
  223. Finch: First, Saturn and I are going to get as far away as possible until we're only just within sight
  224. Rochette: "They were choking on their own blood. That's probably left their throats broken for speech right now, not to mention fever-induced lethargy."
  225. Orlena Greaves: It'll cost you 375.00 money and a DC 12 Tech Edu to craft it.
  226. Finch: to avoid contamination. And now...
  227. Finch: Tech Edu 6d6+4 !
  228. * Finch is a tiny genius!
  229. Finch: 12625
  230. Orlena Greaves: "No one sick is in any condition to speak at all."
  231. * DNA updates money on trainer sheet.
  232. Chloe Blanchett: "I see..."
  233. Chloe Blanchett: "Did people get sick as soon as they entered the mines? Or were some safe for a few trips in?
  234. Chloe Blanchett: "And how fast is the onset?"
  235. Orlena Greaves: "Do I look like a doctor to you?"
  236. * Rochette raises an eyebrow at Orlena, but shrugs and looks over toward the mine, if it's nearby enough to do so.
  237. Orlena Greaves: Orlena Greaves rubs her temples for a moment, "I'm sorry..."
  238. Orlena Greaves: "That was wrong of me."
  239. Rochette: "Chloe. 24 hour incubation period."
  240. Orlena Greaves: "I don't know. They aren't a stranger to the mines. We've been here for years and mining for almost as long. But then everyone suddenly got sick and when doctor Norman got them better they were sick again just about the next day. I don't know how this thing works...I just wish it'd go away!"
  241. Orlena Greaves: "I don't know what you'll find. We haven't been in the mines since the sickness came. The doctor hasn't gone in either but that's where it all began."
  242. Finch: Did I succeed?
  243. Rochette: "I'll head in once Saturn gets back. Chloe, you and Saturn can decide if you want to follow."
  244. Orlena Greaves: (( Yes you did. Immensely. ))
  245. Finch: I didn't have to scrap the sleeping bag to do so, did I?
  246. Orlena Greaves: (( The filter you craft will be of high quality and worth x2.5 its original value. ))
  247. Orlena Greaves: (( No, you didn't. ))
  248. Finch: \o/
  249. Finch: "Mwahahahahahahahaha!!"
  250. * Finch laughed at the fruits of his labour. All shall quake before his filter creation skill!
  251. * Finch would then wait a day or so for his cotton to grow back, if necessary.
  252. * Saturn Rosewell recalled Finch, and returned to the others, holding the high-quality cotton filter.
  253. Orlena Greaves: The Water Filter crafted by Finch (I'll handwave the time for now but it was extended action) is worth 1250.0 .
  254. Saturn Rosewell: "I think we were able to make something good. I certainly hope so. The little guy was laughing like a madman."
  255. Saturn Rosewell: 5.0E+2
  256. Saturn Rosewell: that was a very odd way to render 500.
  257. Rochette: "I'm going to head into the mines. You two can come along or stay behind to keep an eye on things. If I end up in a bad way, I'll have Fens to pull me out."
  258. Orlena Greaves: Orlena Greaves looks at the filter placed into her hands and she blinks a few times, "Did...did your tiny little Pokémon just conjure up gold...?"
  259. Saturn Rosewell: "Uh...I don't think so?"
  260. Chloe Blanchett: "He's as clever as he is brave, it looks like. Good job Finch!"
  261. * Finch wasn't present (he'd been recalled), but he could hear the conversation. He was giggling quietly and maniacally to himself.
  262. Avara: did a good job, mister finch
  263. Avara: ... better wording for the reference
  264. Chloe Blanchett: "And Rochette, be sure to cover your mouth. We still have the filters from the cave, remember?"
  265. Avara: you're a keen one, mister finch
  266. Avara: i apparently neglected to document any filters from any caves. remind me?
  267. Chloe Blanchett: (Someone mastercrafted breathing filters for the party, due to all the strange stuff we were potentially breathing.)
  268. DNA: I read that as Master Belch
  269. Chloe Blanchett: (Or was that a different game? It's been a long time)
  270. Avara: i think that was me
  271. Orlena Greaves: (( I don't recall rebreathers. ))
  272. Avara: when uh
  273. DNA: though Finch is named after a friend of mine whose favorite mon is Whimsicott
  274. Avara: we did the rust wolf stuff
  275. Avara: in your wod campaign
  276. Chloe Blanchett: (Yes, nevermind, that was my game >.)
  277. DNA: and whose profession is astrophysicist.
  278. Chloe Blanchett: (But still, good idea, while we are crafting)
  279. Avara: yes, was about to ask
  280. Orlena Greaves: (( rebreathers do not work on diseases. ))
  281. Avara: do we have things for making improv air masks?
  282. Chloe Blanchett: (( Filter masks ))
  283. Orlena Greaves: (( Neither do gas masks. ))
  284. Avara: ok
  285. Rochette: "As I recall, it was primarily spread by touch." She shrugs and heads mines-ward.
  286. Chloe Blanchett: "Then make sure you have handwraps"
  287. Rochette: "Not going to touch anything unless I'm stabbing it. Handwraps won't be much help."
  288. Rochette: "If I change my mind, I'll cut up my sleeping bag in there. I don't really have a lot of options."
  289. Chronicler: Are folks heading into the mines now? I need confirmation.
  290. Saturn Rosewell: "I really don't think we have the equipment on hand to properly make contact with the infected. The best thing for us to do is just to root out and destroy the source."
  291. Saturn Rosewell: confirming
  292. Avara: ro is attempting to, but safety things keep coming up
  293. Chloe Blanchett: Chloe will head to the mine, but not enter immediately.
  294. DNA: Am I holding the filter still? or was it handed off?
  295. Rochette: ((handed off)
  296. DNA: thought so
  297. Rochette: ((the kind lady was holding it))
  298. Chronicler: A cool breeze drifts down from the towering peaks of the Mountains as you behold the entrance to the mines. The dust-soiled ground is littered with tools, picks and shovels, some of which protrude from banks of soil. A single darkened shaft leads into the depths of the mine ahead. The dirt path beneath its wooden support structure is covered with stone debris, a few pieces of which occasionally glint with the slightest hint of ore. No light issues forth from the tunnel. Burnt-out torches are strewn across the floor, their brackets torn from the shaft walls. Behind you, the worn road leads back through the crags to the village below. Aside from the quiet whistling of the wind, complete silence fills the small clearing within the mountains.
  299. * Rochette takes out her silver dagger, holding it carefully as she brings out Fens to help her lead the party. "This is more your environment than mine."
  300. * Saturn Rosewell still isn't confident with sending a Pokemon out...
  301. Saturn Rosewell: "Are you sure it's a wise idea to have Pokemon out here? They could become carriers, after all..."
  302. Chloe Blanchett: "gnyuu~" Chloe was timidly putting the lenses into her eyes.
  303. DNA: read as uguu
  304. * Fens nods, gesturing for them to follow. She's grateful to be let out inside somewhere not blistering-bright for once. As she stands at the lead, she tries to see into the mines.
  305. Chloe Blanchett: "... alright, I gan see now." Chloe blinked to get used to the feel.
  306. Rochette: "I'd rather have someone who can be detoxified of the illness later and save me now, as opposed to being completely unprotected and blind down here."
  307. Chloe Blanchett: Chloe wrapped a towel around her shoulders.
  308. * Saturn Rosewell will follow behind Rochette or Fens, whatever the case might be.
  309. Saturn Rosewell: "All right, fair enough..."
  310. Rochette: "It might also help if someone got a torch lit or something."
  311. Saturn Rosewell: (Is there a spare torch lying around that could be lit?)
  312. Chronicler: There are three discarded torches on the ground here - once used to light the tunnel.
  313. Chloe Blanchett: "It's dangerous to touch anything."
  314. * Rochette communicates with Fens a bit. "A fight happened recently... a week ago at most. Blood was spilled."
  315. Saturn Rosewell: "A fight, huh..."
  316. Avara: does it look like all the torches going inward were stripped off as well?
  317. Chronicler: Yes.
  318. Saturn Rosewell: "...I could get Natasha if we really need light. I don't want to risk her if I don't have to - but it might be even riskier to touch one of the torches."
  319. Chloe Blanchett: "A fight..." Chloe thought.
  320. Rochette: "You'd have to bring her out to light it regardless."
  321. Saturn Rosewell: "...true. It's whether or not I want to risk her becoming a carrier, though. Only if we could actually eradicate it..."
  322. Chloe Blanchett: "Natasha might be the safest one, because she can fly. And as long as we can find Norman again, we're safe, right? He can cure it, he just can't stop people from getting it a second time."
  323. Saturn Rosewell: "...I hope you're right..."
  324. DNA: (Since the Arakore is confirmed to have Darkvision, I'll wait to be asked to summon a light source)
  325. Chloe Blanchett: Chloe nodded, not wanting to voice her own hesitations. Something told her that they would find a cure, even if things did turn out for the worst.
  326. Rochette: "Oh, hold on..." she checks her notes. "Fens, could you...?" Fens nods, and activates one of her newer tricks! She starts glowing. It's something of an eerie light, but it works.
  327. Avara: fens has flash, ergo glow. forgot about that
  328. DNA: heh! How very convenient!@
  329. Kaorin Sakura: Hahaha -flash- .
  330. Kaorin Sakura: _ Damn you Gardevoir.
  331. * DNA baps PoT.
  332. Avara: ?
  333. Kaorin Sakura: Gardevoir used flash! It's super-effective!
  334. Avara: heh. *pets kaorin*
  335. * Kaorin Sakura goes back to being a GM.
  336. DNA: Hush you; don't speak of dat Grace in that way
  337. Avara: so, we have light source.
  338. DNA: Sounds like a plan.
  339. Chronicler: You can see that the tunnel heads noth into the mountain and slants downward at a gradual incline. It appears to extend at least 40 meters.
  340. Chronicler: north*
  341. DNA: Can we tell if the ground is slippery or whatnot?
  342. Chronicler: It is dry.
  343. * Fens will continue to lead deeper, attempting to keep a keen eye, ear and nose out for any changes.
  344. Saturn Rosewell: Intuition to sense any other living creature nearby; 4d6+1 !
  345. * Rochette will do the same, though she's less apt at it than her pokemon.
  346. * Saturn Rosewell took a deep breath, attempting to attune herself to the area, looking for any other signs of life.
  347. Chloe Blanchett: Chloe walked alongside Saturn and the others.
  348. Chronicler: Hmm..
  349. Chronicler whispers: I forget: Does Saturn have Aura Reader or anything similar?
  350. Chloe Blanchett: Chloe looked around the illuminated area. Perception.
  351. Rochette: ((wrong whisper target, kaorin. unless that was group-sent))
  352. DNA: I got no whisper from you
  353. Chronicler: (( No, it was sent to you. ))
  354. Chronicler: My whisper targets are right.
  355. Avara: i didn't say anything about intuition.
  356. Avara: ro was perceptioning
  357. Avara: ... bluh. i get it.
  358. * Avara pokes DNA
  359. Avara: this guy interrupted me
  360. DNA: AAAAAAAAAAA!
  361. Avara: ro was doing the same thing as fens
  362. Avara: which is: keeping a look out, keeping ears open, sniffing every so often
  363. Chronicler: (( Ah, okay. ))
  364. Chronicler: The tunnel opens into a small, roughly rectangular chamber. Scattered chunks of silver ore surround an overturned pair of wooden carts. The lower half of what appears to be a humanshape body juts out from beneath one of the cart’s edges. It shows no signs of movement. Dried blood is smeared across the northern wall in several places. Exits lead to the west and the east.
  365. Chloe Blanchett: Chloe winces at the sight.
  366. DNA: morbid.
  367. Avara: which exit did we come in through?
  368. Chronicler whispers: To the west you can sense 9 life sources. To the east, nothing. Either there's nothing there or its too far.
  369. DNA: WE headed north, so it would be the south exit.
  370. Chronicler: South.
  371. * Fens attempts to catch scent of not-the-blood, not-the-body leading away from the carnage!
  372. You whisper to Kaorin Sakura: And this room? I assume the guy under the cart is dead?
  373. Chronicler: You guys may wanna map this stuff out yourselves.
  374. Chronicler whispers: You sense no life from him.
  375. Chronicler whispers: Her, it whatever.
  376. Avara: any volunteers?
  377. Saturn Rosewell: "...eugh..." Saturn grimaced at the sight of the dead guy.
  378. Saturn Rosewell: "I'm picking up...nine life forms to the west. Nothing to the east, though. They're either not there or too far away."
  379. Rochette: "West first, then?"
  380. Saturn Rosewell: "Might be a good idea..."
  381. Chloe Blanchett: "Left first is always a good first step."
  382. Avara: westward march! well, not march. but walk.
  383. * Saturn Rosewell kept herself focused. Any potential movement, adding or removing...she wanted to know exactly what the 9 up ahead were doing.
  384. * Fens is going to continue having that perception checks. let me know when a new one is needed? Keeping a check out for any changes in the surroundings, the air, etc.
  385. Saturn Rosewell: (Let me know if I need to make another Intu check also)
  386. Chloe Blanchett: Chloe keeps her eyes out for movement or suspicious objects. Perception.
  387. Chronicler: (( Sec, water boiling ))
  388. Rochette: (( appropriate ))
  389. DNA: Don't forget to filter it!
  390. Chloe Blanchett: "... It's good we didn't look at that further, but very strange... That cart, that wasn't an accident. It's a trap, anyone who checks on the body will trigger it. Someone set this up, and its someone who is targeting trusting, helpful people."
  391. Saturn Rosewell: "Then this plague you think might be...deliberate? Or is it just a hunter who's taking advantage of the situation?"
  392. Rochette: "Could be both, if we're unlucky."
  393. * Saturn Rosewell gulped.
  394. Chloe Blanchett: "It really, really looks this way. Hm, now who in the area has it in for this town?" Chloe considered this. Wondering if anyone nearby would have reason to target this place. General Education
  395. Rochette: "Isn't this town supposed to be run by a church? Maybe someone's got it in for faith."
  396. Chloe Blanchett: "With all the silver, it could be someone in it for the profit. Clearing everyone out before bringing their own in. If it is a group of hybrids or pokemon, they don't even need to worry about getting ill from it."
  397. Saturn Rosewell: "...euuggh...hybrids. I certainly hope not."
  398. Rochette: "... You have issues with hybrids?"
  399. Saturn Rosewell: "...yes. ...I don't want to talk about it."
  400. Chloe Blanchett: "We don't have to, lets continue." (heading west?)
  401. DNA: (I believe so, unless a GM check interrupts our progress.)
  402. Chronicler: Sorry, I has tea now.
  403. DNA: Do you has Crumpets?
  404. Chronicler: No, but I has apple pie.
  405. DNA: ...let's keep going before I am jelly of your foods.
  406. Chronicler: Okay, information has been delivered.
  407. Chronicler: You all travel a distance of 10-meters out of the area you were just at, westward, to a pair of wooden doors. They appear patchworked, having been rebuilt quickly from various damage. You can hear voices from behind the door and the clanking of objects (not weapons).
  408. Saturn Rosewell: Check to listen in on the voices?
  409. Chronicler: Perception.
  410. Saturn Rosewell: Damn. Knew it. Ah well, Perception 2d6+2 .
  411. * Fens negates her Glow, and moves to listen carefully.
  412. Chloe Blanchett: Chloe listened in on the voices, her eyes focusing intently.
  413. Chronicler whispers: Saturn can only here the muffled sounds behind the door.
  414. * Saturn Rosewell shakes her head. She got nothing.
  415. Chloe Blanchett: Chloe held in her groan, but her face showed it well.
  416. * Saturn Rosewell looked to Chloe, wondering what she heard.
  417. * Fens whispers the information to Rochette.
  418. Chloe Blanchett: Chloe caught Saturn's eye and shook her head. She tapped her ear and shrugged.
  419. * Saturn Rosewell 's face fell slightly. Nothing, huh...
  420. * Rochette whispers to Chloe and Saturn. "They're arguing about whether or not to attack, don't want more of their own to die. They... I'm not sure if they're targetting the town or the source, they're not sure if their own will get poisoned at this rate. But they were talking about weakening the target, as well."
  421. Rochette: "From what Fens said... I think it's more likely they were targeting the source."
  422. Saturn Rosewell: "Allies, possibly? Holed up in the mines?" Saturn was keeping her voice as low as she could.
  423. Rochette: "Could be either way... Shall we head in?"
  424. Chloe Blanchett: "Allies or enemies, either way we have to confront them."
  425. Saturn Rosewell: "...yeah. Should I call out Natasha?"
  426. * Rochette attempts to open up the doorway quietly and slowly.
  427. Chronicler: (( Sec. General made being drawn ))
  428. Chloe Blanchett: ((We're coming in from the east, right?))
  429. DNA: So I understand it.
  430. Chronicler: (( south from this perspective ))
  431. Chloe Blanchett: Gotcha.
  432. DNA: though east in actuality, but "down" on this map. Got it.
  433. DNA: (Saturn's token is in her box, not in Cast)
  434. You whisper to Kaorin Sakura: That reminds me. Earlier I sensed 9 life forms. How many are in this room?
  435. Pawniard whispers: 9
  436. You whisper to Kaorin Sakura: Ah, okay. nothing invisible there. got it.
  437. DNA: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
  438. Chloe Blanchett: aaaaaaaa
  439. Chronicler: (( Did fog of war just...? ))
  440. Chloe Blanchett: yes
  441. Chronicler: Huh. Interesting.
  442. Avara: everywhere
  443. DNA: except for 2 very tiny lines
  444. Chloe Blanchett: I saw them earlier. And I can still scroll over theri names.
  445. Chronicler: How's that?
  446. Avara: much better.
  447. DNA: Back to how it was; perfect
  448. Chloe Blanchett: Can see everything.
  449. Avara: although regrettable.
  450. Avara: because so many enemies
  451. Chronicler: Oh I see
  452. Chronicler: There we go.
  453. Chronicler: Can you still see the enemies?
  454. Avara: no
  455. Chloe Blanchett: Perfect!
  456. Eclipse: Neither of us can.
  457. Chronicler: Good.
  458. Chronicler: But the map is still visible?
  459. Avara: yes
  460. Eclipse: Yes; all is in perfect clarity.
  461. Avara: completely so. hi table.
  462. Chronicler: Awesome.
  463. Chronicler: Now, iirc, someone opened the door and was walking inside?
  464. DNA: That was Rochette, yes.
  465. Avara: hold it
  466. Chronicler: So, just to b----yes?
  467. Avara: ro was opening slowly and quietly, not brazenly walking in
  468. Chronicler: But you're still walking in, yes? Or are you just opening the door?
  469. Avara: opening
  470. Chloe Blanchett: Chloe draws a wand...
  471. Chronicler: Gimme a stealth to do so without making noise.
  472. * Saturn Rosewell has her hand near her belt to call forth a Pokemon, but doesn't do so yet, not in such confined quarters.
  473. Avara: if relevant: ro doesn't trigger hazards
  474. Chronicler: Good to know.
  475. Chronicler: And always relevent.
  476. Chronicler: None of the Pokemon seem to notice the door opening. Rochette manages to do so without so much as a creak or noticeable change in air-pressure.
  477. DNA: And then there was blood in the room and no one knew how it got there.
  478. DNA: ...okay I'm done
  479. Chronicler: (( Allow me to remove vision blocking ))
  480. Elgyem 2: "E mea ārai ki kauwaka te mea ko reira. Hanga ana e ia whakatara uaua ki te kanohi ..."
  481. * Fens will use Wallclimber and stealthiness to crawl along the top of the room, if it's large enough for such shenanigans.
  482. Pawniard 3: "Na taku whakaeke whawhai. Kairau i ngingio ..."
  483. Chronicler: The room is 6-meters wide and 5-meters long. It is 5-meters high.
  484. Fens: ((intuition or perception to identify the leader?))
  485. Fens: Fens goes up 5 meter(s).
  486. Chronicler: In this case, since none of them look different from another, Perception.
  487. Fens: ((in that case, can i roll again to identify which one was talking about attacking?))
  488. Fens: ((by voice))
  489. Chronicler: With a successful perception, sure.
  490. Pawniard 1: "Te haere ia anake ki te whakaora me te tupu kaha te roa tatari matou e matau ana ki a koe."
  491. * Fens slowly moves across the ceiling.
  492. Pawniard 1: (( Stealth ))
  493. Chronicler: Give me that Perception.
  494. Chronicler: More stealth.
  495. Chronicler: Continue
  496. Fens: ((which way is everyone facing?))
  497. Chronicler: Is that really relevent?
  498. Fens: ((to batmanning one of the mooks, maybe))
  499. Chronicler: (( I have no idea what that means. ))
  500. Chronicler: (( It's not letting me use arrows. ))
  501. DNA: Taking one out from behind without him even knowing about it.
  502. DNA: Like backstab, but with style.
  503. Chronicler: The guys at the table are facing each other and the ones at the walls are facing each other.
  504. * Fens scratches on the wall to draw everyone's gaze upwards. She then speaks to them.
  505. Chronicler: The Pokémon all look up at Fens.
  506. Chronicler: There is a wave of 'wtf' looks and then 'ohshit' looks.
  507. Pawniard 1: "Mahia e ia te ngā reira! Ngā i ia tona demonspawn!"
  508. Pawniard 1: "Korerotia e ahau i roto i kore pai e te reira roa, patu i te reira!"

  531. DNA: @Avara: The translations, when I try to put them back, come out as nonsensical.
  532. Avara: trying to decide who to attack. and yes, DNA. that's why i was asking for the originals
  533. Eclipse: ah.
  534. * Rochette steps in from behind quickly, ramming her dagger towards the Pawniard Number 3. As she does, she attempts to hit it with great stealth and greater debilitation, aiming to take off a chunk of armor!
  535. Rochette: ((slash + the right spot, db4+1 Def combat reduction. costs 1 AP. rolling))
  536. Pawniard 3: Pawniard 3 is unaware of Rochette!

  546. Fens: (ah, found it in the description. just a chunk of text.)
  547. DNA: aj
  548. Fens: 13 vs speed

  573. Pawniard 1: Pawniard 1 thrusts a sharp fist? at Fens! 14 vs. DEF Eva!

  604. Chloe Blanchett has received initiative.
  605. Chloe Blanchett: Chloe leaps into the room and begins to cast a spell! The bud of a lotus appears under her, the petals all closing in. After her form is completely sealed the petals fade.
  606. Chloe Blanchett: (done)
  607. Saturn Rosewell has received initiative.
  608. DNA: How wide open is the door at this point? Basically all the way?
  609. Chronicler: Basically all the way.
  610. DNA: Then this shall be fun
  611. DNA: Firstly, as a Shift Action, Saturn will toss Natasha's Poke Ball to near the center of the room, above the table.
  612. Natasha: Initiative = 10
  613. Natasha: "Ta-da! Natasha ist hier!"
  614. Saturn Rosewell: Then, as her Standard Action, she will shoot a bullet from her gun...but it's not just any bullet!
  615. Chronicler: To note:
  616. Saturn Rosewell: No, it's enough to explode and hit Pawniards 2 and 3, plus Elgyem 3! Swift! Crit check: 10

  636. Elgyem 3: Elgyem 3 loses 18 hit points.
  637. Natasha has received initiative.
  638. DNA: Okay, question, does a Line have to be in the same direction the user's facing? or can it originate from the first panel in the line, then rotate from there?
  639. DNA: e.g. could I have Natasha move 2sq south, then have the line move northwest? or would I have to move her 3sq south?
  640. Chronicler: Um, you can change your facing when you attack so the think the first point is moot.
  641. DNA: how about the follow-up question?
  642. Chronicler: So you want to move her to F8 and make the attack go to E7, D6 and C5?
  643. DNA: F7, E6, and D5, actually
  644. DNA: Or would I have to be on G8 to do that?
  645. Chronicler: Ohh, I see.
  646. Chronicler: Yes, you'd have to be at D8
  647. Chronicler: Erm, G8
  648. DNA: Damn, worth a try
  649. DNA: Since going to G8 is impossible at this time...
