  1. I hear the term "war fighter" being thrown around a lot as a catch-all for the brave men and women of our armed forces and I must admit it's grown on me. When I first heard it I felt it was a bit crude; my family has a long history of military tradition, so it's always been important to me to keep up on the accomplishments of each branch of our military. But as I walked through the door today after a long day of work, I realized something: Aren't they all war fighters? Isn't it true that today, no matter if you're a coast guardsman or a soldier, no matter where in the world you're stationed, that you're at real risk of direct attack by America's enemies? My wife was in the kitchen, preparing dinner and a thought struck me: Aren't America's mother's war fighters too?
  2. I am not an american mother, but that doesn't mean I don't have enough important interactions with American mother's on a day to day basis to know that they are the cornerstone of our society: At the dinner table, saying grace; in the workplace and of course at the kid's school you will find an American mother performing a vital function. I don't want to take anything away from the brave War Fighters of our Armed Forces, their's is in my opinion the hardest job in the world, but isn't that also what President Bush said about mother's?
  3. But the full implications of my realization are dark : Not only do our mother's provide a vital function in raising future generations of war fighters, but that they also face the exact same risks our war fighters do in the line of duty! In Obama's America, hearing on the news that a mother of five was killed by domestic terrorists in a movie theatre seems is as common as hearing about one of our war fighters falling in Afghanistan. When did it become way? How did the mother of my children, my own mother and ALL American mothers become open to direct attack by America's enemies? When did we lose our homeland security?
