Scar was in front of me before I could make a blazing shield, his hand reaching out to strike me. One touch was all he’d need to rip me apart, so I couldn’t even allow him that much. I clapped again and the fire that would have stopped his incoming attack rushed in faster, losing some of its heat and seeping through my uniform.

A burst of static, gold and violet, suddenly sent me shooting into motion as my nervous system flared. The potential fire that would have been used to shield me became raw lightning coursing through my body, my reflexes suddenly going ballistic. The sudden burst of electricity in my body went down into the earth and tore apart my shoes in the process.

I danced around Scar, kicking him firmly in the back and knocking him away from me to try and send him stumbling. Or, well, that was the original plan. He spun with my kick, sending me tumbling so he could send his touch of death towards me. I ducked and rolled, standing once more.
