  1. Linda McMahon loses her Senate bid later this year. That same month, at Survivor Series (or whatever replaces it), Cena shocks the wrestling world by turning on his partners in the WarGames-inspired main event. This ushers in the second Attitude Era. WWE's product becomes edgier and more violent than ever before. Ratings hold steady for the first year or so, but as the viewing audience gets older the company gets more popular. Ratings skyrocket to the 6-7 point range for both RAW and Smackdown by the end of 2013. NBC signs a new deal with WWE to move Superstars to their Thursday prime-time lineup after WWE's contract with WGN expires, and extend the USA and Syfy contracts for another five years each. With WWE's help, NBC/Universal becomes the second most successful media company in the world, trailing only Disney. WWE, and wrestling in general, enjoys popularity surpassing anything seen before.

  17. TNA nearly crushes itself under the weight of its production and talent costs when they attempt to take Impact on the road in 2011. Spike drops Impact from its lineup in January of 2012, and the show jumps around the dial on networks ranging from MTV to TBS to its final home, Comedy Central. Panda Energy sells the promotion to Jeff Jarrett, Mick Foley, and Ric Flair. Hogan leaves. By the end of 2012, TNA has not run a show in nearly four months, and nearly all of their talent has signed with WWE or ROH (who has replaced TNA on Spike and become the #2 promotion in the US). Jarrett, Foley, and Flair bury the hatchet with Vince McMahon in March of 2013 and sell the remnants of the company to him, in exchange for lifetime Legends contracts (and in Jarrett's case, a two-year active talent contract worth close to three million dollars) and sizable amounts of WWE stock. Both Jarrett and Foley are inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame by 2015.
