- [14:16:11] <TheBurnWard> Hey Troid https://boards.4chan.org/jp/thread/12770785#p12780170
- [14:16:13] <TheBurnWard> Could you remove please
- [14:16:53] <Troid> lol
- [14:24:10] <yetsturdy> It's starting to seem like now is an opportune time to delete /pol/
- [14:24:17] <yetsturdy> What would happen if /pol/ was just gone?
- [14:24:32] <yetsturdy> they'd floor more into other boards, but even that would die down eventually
- [14:24:35] <FnFyZpXv> Nothing, /pol/acks already fleed/raided other boards (and failed)
- [14:24:38] <yetsturdy> s/floor/flood
- [14:24:42] <yetsturdy> FnFyZpXv: Exactly
- [14:24:44] <yetsturdy> so if /pol/ dies
- [14:24:46] <yetsturdy> nothing happens
- [14:24:51] <FnFyZpXv> Yeah, it's fucking nothing
- [14:24:55] <yetsturdy> except that /pol/ no longer has a voice on the internet
- [14:25:05] <FnFyZpXv> I've been holding them at bay on /int/ and they're not even that good at spamming
- [14:25:07] <yetsturdy> it'll be like excising a tumor
- [14:25:19] <FnFyZpXv> They're not even subtle, they keep making "FUCK THE NIGGERS" threads
- [14:25:29] <FnFyZpXv> And everyone reports them lel not even their cousin board wants them
- [14:26:21] <FnFyZpXv> Anyway /pol/ is already dead. I doubt deleting the board would change much. That board does no longer exist.
- [14:29:40] <Troid> yeah FnFyZpXv, they "failed" because of mods sitting around banning them over and over again until they gave up. you should know that that kind of action isn't possible 24/7
- [14:30:39] <Troid> "lel /pol/ what cucks can't even raid /mlp/" is a funny shtpost on 4chan but it's not related to the reality of moderating against raids
- [14:31:47] <FnFyZpXv> I know that. But it simply can't not be hilarious in my eyes.
- [14:32:08] <FnFyZpXv> /pol/ always complained that if something like this happened they would've wrecked the rest of the site
- [14:32:20] <FnFyZpXv> mods or not, it did not happen, and now they're fucked
- [14:32:54] <Troid> you're looking at this the same way they are, like /pol/ is an entity and it's in a fight with the rest of the site
- [14:33:32] <Troid> nothing that's been done was an attempt to "drive out" /pol/. guess what, if moot wanted to get rid of /pol/ he would delete it
- [14:33:46] <FnFyZpXv> lol no, I know /pol/ is not an entity and that every board contains a wide spectrum of users. But it's undeniable that there was a part of the userbase who enjoyed shitflinging and acting like monkeys
- [14:33:51] *** Quits: Lingering (~Lingering@C6F39685:9AF1068D:9E7548E1:IP) (Ping timeout: 240 seconds)
- [14:34:03] <FnFyZpXv> The userbase may not have been as big as most people thought, but they were very vocal.
- [14:34:42] <FnFyZpXv> I also know that this was not an epig trole move. It's just what it is, moot may have done it for any reason and I have no idea which it is. I'm discussing the effect, not the cause.
- [14:35:16] <Troid> "lol might as well delete /pol/ now" isn't the effect
- [14:35:30] <Liryui> there we go
- [14:35:42] <Liryui> roughly 40 posts ban requested because of le ebbin cuck meme
- [14:35:58] *** Joins: VCR_Working (~VCR@monstergirls.are.olev)
- [14:35:58] *** ChanServ sets mode: +h VCR_Working
- [14:37:01] *** Joins: butterfingers (~butters@where.dreams.die)
- [14:37:01] *** ChanServ sets mode: +v butterfingers
- [14:37:33] <FnFyZpXv> Troid, I'm not suggesting that /pol/ should be removed. I'm just stating that as it is now, that board is dead. It's pretty much [s4s] 2.0 right now. Putting it back to its original state is not going to bring /pol/ back, because people will keep shitposting and trolling in it even if they start getting banned, and because most (I said most, not all) of the userbase who wanted to discuss politics fleed to 8chan or other places
- [14:37:45] <Liryui> for the love of christ please autoban "cuck" on /v/
- [14:38:36] <FnFyZpXv> In all honesty I don't hate /pol/. I used to browse that board and post in it, and enjoyed talking about actual politics in meme-free threads.
- [14:38:42] <FnFyZpXv> But that's not /pol/ anymore
- [14:38:43] <Troid> that's not true at all
- [14:38:51] <butterfingers> boards have a way of adjusting themselves, it just takes time
- [14:39:11] <Troid> again you're overestimating things and treating the borad like a delicate ecosystem with fragile snowflake qualities
- [14:39:15] <Troid> it's just a fucking directory on 4chan
- [14:39:21] <FnFyZpXv> Well you've been at it for more than me so I can be completely wrong. I don't have the experience so I cannot know
- [14:39:24] <butterfingers> and getting rid of the die-hard circlejerk portion of /pol/ can't hurt, either
- [14:39:38] <Troid> /r9k/ got raided by /s4s/ for a couple of days too
- [14:39:44] <Troid> it's back to normal now
- [14:40:15] *** Joins: MecuryYeti (~Cobalt@mount.everest.summit)
- [14:40:15] *** ChanServ sets mode: +v MecuryYeti
- [14:40:45] <FnFyZpXv> Eh, I'm only stating my opinion. If I'm wrong then /pol/ will go back to its BBC and le jews threads. I don't think it's gonna return to its original state, but again I don't know shit about it
- [14:42:09] *** Quits: Grubermeister (~Grubermei@im.the.grubermeister) (Ping timeout: 240 seconds)
- [14:42:22] <ChibaK> its moot's site and he can (and does) things to rock the boat of boards from time to time
- [14:44:14] *** Quits: morobrens (~morobrens@wait.what) (Ping timeout: 240 seconds)
- [14:44:28] <ChibaK> cant say im always happy about it but i think in this case its just a bit of fun aimed at a board that holds itself in hig regard and maybe takes itself a bit too seriously
- [14:44:31] <TheBurnWard> nothing happened to /pol/ when it stopped being /new/ so i don't see how wordfilters will change it
- [14:45:01] <Troid> it really was just a bit of fun
- [14:45:16] <ChibaK> and i empathise with /int/ jani's as its like /pol/ 2.0 at the best of times and has suffered more than most with /pol/ being like this
- [14:45:22] <Troid> a bit of extreme fun since he actually invited other boards to come have their way with no captcha
- [14:46:03] <ChibaK> but its not the end of the world, and its sort of funny watching people who take 4chan waaaay to seriously have a meltdown
- [14:47:08] <FnFyZpXv> Yes, that's pretty much my position. The fact that people took 4chan so seriously and got mad at it is what gets me
- [14:47:15] <Troid> my point is that when the fun is over and things are restored, there's nothing stopping the posters from coming back and having their good old /pol/ back
- [14:47:25] <Troid> it's the posters that make a board a board. the individuals, not a hivemind
- [14:48:01] <FnFyZpXv> You're probably right. Even if the old userbase does not come back there's still some thousand people ready to shitpost in their place...
- [14:48:18] <ALTERNATIVE> it'll be fine
- [14:48:35] <ALTERNATIVE> this has happened before and it'll happen again
- [14:49:01] <ALTERNATIVE> some people are gonna get fanny flustered but it'll all work out
- [14:49:02] <Liryui> the circle of strife
- [14:50:39] <ChibaK> you have to be seriously mentally retarded to believe all the shit that /pol/ spouts about moot and the site, i mean the speculation as to what he is and thinks has been at fever pitch since this GG thing, and if this means some more crazies pack their bags well im not going to lose sleep over it
- [14:50:50] <butterfingers> and thanks to /pol/ there are less porn threads on /mlp/ now. so I like it
- [14:51:22] <Troid> if anything I think this episode will prove that there is literally nothing that will make most of these shitposters leave the site they constantly say they hate so much
- [14:51:43] <Troid> despite their self-described perfect alternative of 8chan
- [14:51:49] <Troid> not even if it were actually sold to gawker
- [14:52:59] <ALTERNATIVE> the idea that anyone legitimate entity would want to buy 4chan is silly
- [14:53:07] <ALTERNATIVE> s/anyone/any/
