  1. After laughing large-heartedly, the duke turned to the man with the appearance of a cleric who was standing next to him, wearing only black garments.
  2.
  3. “Shall we go, everybody is anxiously waiting (for you)”
  4. “Certainly. Clemen-dono. I and the Duke have to finish preparations for everyone, I’ll leave the lord of the frontier to you (辺境侯様, Henkyoukou-sama)”
  5. “Understood. Well then Henkyoukou-sama, I shall guide you to the chamber, please follow me”
  6.
  7. A woman with cat-like features replied to him. Her purple eyes were fixed on Ainz.
  8.
  9. “Right, I will be in your care”
  10. “I’ll see you later then, Henkyoukou-sama”
  11. “……Yeah”
  12.
  13. After separated from the Duke who had somehow treated him with excessive respect, Ainz was led by the woman called Clemen to a different room.
  14. There was a building resembling a burial chamber with a big chair made of stone at one end. As they reached the centre of the room, Clemen talked to Ainz.
  15.
  16. “Would you please sit and wait there?”
  17.
  18. Her tone was polite but, the faint respect that could be perceived in her earlier words was totally gone.
  19. Moreover, her eyes seemed to be trying to appraise Ainz, he felt that she was trying to estimate his real ability.
  20. Ainz felt somewhat unpleasant. She might be the duke’s guard but she had no right to look at him like that. Ainz picked a target to convey his thought. Even so, he couldn’t pick Clemen herself.
  21.
  22. “I don’t need it”
  23. “Excuse me?”
  24.
  25. Ignoring Clemen’s query, Ainz approached the giant throne made of stone.
  26.
  27. “What a filthy chair”
  28.
  29. Without adding anything else, Ainz placed one hand on the throne and moved it lightly. Since the throne wasn’t fixed to the ground, it shifted slightly.
  30.
  31. “You can’t possibly want me to sit on such a filthy lump of stone, can you?”
  32.
  33. While staring at Clemen, Ainz lifted with one hand the throne of stone, which would weight around 2 tonnes.
  34. The astonished Clemen retreated one step back and slightly lowered her back. It was a battle posture that would allow her to react instantly.
  35. In response to that attitude, Ainz purposely laughed scornfully so that she could hear him and threw the throne out. “Throw out” might be an understatement since it was a swing made with Ainz’s full strength, comparable to a strong fast ball.
  36. The throne colliding with the wall produced a massive sound, as if the ground itself was shaking.
  37. The smashed up stones scattered all around the place and a spider web-like crack was left on the wall. Several pieces of earth crumbled down but the ceiling itself didn’t fall down.
  38. After cancelling the magic he had prepared beforehand to cope with the possibility of the ceiling falling down, Ainz inspected Clemen with a sidelong glance.
  39. What he saw was a simple woman.
  40. Reacting to the big crashing sound with a light scream (“hii-!”), Clemen was shrugging her shoulders trembling every time a piece of the ceiling fell down.
  41. Furthermore, reminding him of the behaviour of a small animal, she was gazing at the throne fallen over and heavily damaged.
  42. If she had previously lowered her back to assume a battle posture, now she was lowering her back to make herself smaller and keep away as much as possible from Ainz’s field of vision.
  43. Seeing that figure, Ainz decided to drop his evaluation of the woman one notch.
  44. (Could it be…… she is not guard but just a normal woman? She must have only displayed that arrogant attitude because the Duke was interested in me. Geez, to react to the rashness of a simple young girl…… maybe I should have been more tolerant as an adult? Whatever, I can’t allow others to make light of me, so I guess it was an appropriate behaviour.)
  45.
  46. “……The filthy chair is no more. Now, where should I sit?”
  47. “Then, shall I become your chair?”
  48.
  49. Hearing the voice of Solution who had so far been quiet, Ainz exhaled slightly, exhausted.
  50.
  51. “That is not a bad idea but……”
  52. “……Th- then shall I”
  53.
  54. Clemen asked timidly. Fear was reflected in her eyes and in Ainz’s mind she only appeared as a simple commoner young girl.
  55. (Do I give off the impression of someone who enjoy sitting on women? ……indeed I don’t care if people suffer as long as the results are good but that doesn’t mean that I enjoy inflicting pain for the sake of it…… as I thought this is the reaction of a commoner? Maybe I should avoid taking off my mask)
  56.
  57. “There’s no need for that”
  58.
  59. Recalling the episode with Shalltear, Ainz replied over his shoulders. Clemen shook her shoulders startled.
  60. ‘She doesn’t need to be so frightened’ Ainz complained in his mind and pointed his finger to where the throne used to be.
  61.
  62. “Greater create item”
  63.
  64. Following the magic invocation, an obsidian throne materialised in that place. Reflecting the light of the flickering candles, that black shining throne looked magnificent
  65.
  66. “No way…… he is really a magic caster…… despite holding such huge physical strength……?
  67. Haha……you gotta be kidding. This is impossible……”
  68.
  69. Disregarding the voice of the dumbfounded woman, Ainz sat on the obsidian throne with the composure of a king. While slowly crossing his legs, he laid his right forearm on the armrest and placed his chin on the back of his hand. Then he slowly turned his face to Clemen.
  70.
  71. “Did you say something? What is it?”
  72. “iih-, NOo, IT-IT’S NOthing!”
  73.
  74. Ainz laughed scornfully at the woman who replied squeaking several times while showing a somehow broken cramped smile. He wasn’t actually finding it funny, but just playing the part of the proper arrogant ruler.
  75. That worked splendidly. Clemen’s body quivered strongly. As if waiting for that moment, the doors opened with a vigorous sound and the Duke sneaked inside, breathing roughly.
  76.
  77. “What happened!? What was that tremendous sound!”
  78. “Ah, that was nothing noteworthy, duke. I couldn’t find a proper chair to sit on, so I just made preparations for one”
  79.
  80. The Duke shifted his gaze and nailed it to the stone throne fallen over sideway. It looked like he was going to express a complaint for a brief moment but then he shook his head.
  81.
  82. “Then it can’t be helped, can it. Please wait a little more, Henkyoukou-sama”
  83.
  84. Looking at the duke leaving after only saying that much, Ainz thought that he was unexpectedly a very understanding person. Normally after witnessing such a scene anybody would show a bigger reaction. However, thinking about it from a logical standpoint, this kind of limited reaction should be expected from someone who is already aware of Ainz’s mighty power.
  85. If it’s the person who single-handedly massacred 100000 men of the kingdom’s army, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that he was able produce a big crack in the wall. Moreover, the nobles who participated to the party organised by him were all unanimously praising his strength and ability.
  86. Summing all these facts together, this kind of feat would be considered a piece of cake for Ainz.
  87. Confirming that everything was progressing according to plan, Ainz displayed a satisfied smile under his mask.
  88. If things keep going like this, Ainz Ooal Gown’s name will be soon regarded as a fair one (can be translated as neutral too). When that happens he will be able to face his former comrades as a proper guild leader. While Ainz was feeling joyful, Solution approached him from the side and laid her mouth close to his ear.
  89.
  90. “Ainz-sama. There is someone looking this way, shall I dispose of her?”
  91.
  92. Ainz’s glance moved to Clemen who had already moved to the farther corner of the room and was trying to make herself as small as possible. Then he slowly looked over the whole room….
  93.
  94. “She is just a member of the security, isn’t she? Ignore her”
  95. “As you wish”
  96.
  97. Solution left his side after bowing once.
  98. Some time passed after that. He had considered conversing with Clemen but, since speaking to a woman who was coweringly monitoring his actions from the farthest possible distance was kinda awkward, Ainz decided to wait idly.
  99. Solution was giving off an unpleasant aura due to the fact that Ainz was being kept waiting but Ainz himself stopped her since judgement had to be delivered only after seeing what the waiting was for.
