- The road. Always twisting, always turning. Nobody knew where it went, but we know it goes somewhere. The sun constantly beating down, 24 hours a day, it does make a man quite tired and thirsty. it doesn't matter. I must go on. Can't go back. Must... go... on...
- On the day of the incident, when the world was turned to fire, everyone fled to the road. With multiple billions of families, each without much food or water, you can imagine how things deteriorated into chaos so quickly. Pretty soon, families were murdering other people in there sleep, just to get a bit of water or food. and it got worse then that. Soon people started to... best not to think about it. The past doesn't matter. I must keep going.
- I started with a family too. A wife and a son. Everything was fine at first, traveling happy, with more food and water then most. But the road, it changed them, and was turning them into something other then human. And I had to... had to... I had to! If I hadn't, they would have turned into monsters! I couldn't see that happen! Luckily the road doesn't effect me, so I'm not quite crazy. Yet.
- I met a stranger today. Glad he wasn't crazy, like most of the people you find here. We made a trade, we did, one pouch of water for a bag of crackers and a pack of smokes. I don't smoke, but I found that pack off a pair of dead lovers. As I walked, I talked with the stranger. Turns out he was a pretty important guy before the incident. Like that matters. He told me things, things about the war, and politics, and his family. Seems like he hadn't talked with anyone in a long time. Me neither. It was nice to talk for a spell, until the stranger collapsed, right in the middle of a sentence. He said, on the ground, that he had gotten heatstroke. Figures. He said to leave him for dead. I did that. He also said to take his things, as I was the most decent person he had met yet. I did that, too. Then the road, I must continue on the road.
- There is no time on the road. Watches don't work anymore, and neither do cell phones. they've all run out of battery or died out. How long has it been? I don't know, but it's been at least a month. I might know if I met a tracker on the road, but I wont. You hardly meet anybody anymore, and the people you do meet are either dying, or crazy. I found another dead body on the side of the road again, this time it was an old man, around 60. Its a wonder how he had survived. I searched him. He had a bit of food, half a pouch of water, and a pocked knife. On the knife was engraved the words; Harold Flury. It is always sadder seeing a dead man when you know his name. I threw the broken knife away.
- I found something very peculiar today. There was some sort of wooden building on a side of the road. How someone would bring this much wood all the way here is a mystery Inside, there was a corpse, with nothing on him, a couch, and a TV that had no power. Inside the couch cracks I found a half eaten beef stick, and a few coins. I ate the beef stick.
- Ive been walking for miles since the building. Nothing has happened. Its got me wondering; Who built this road? How did it come to be? It just sort of started where everyone had gathered, and now it had killed more then the fire. Was it evil? Good? Who knows? Who even cares anymore? All we humans do is walk on it.
- I'm starting to wonder if there even is an end to this road anymore. Ive been walking for so long. I must continue. If thee wasn't an end, then where was I going? A road cant not have a destination, right? Please let there be an end. Please.
- I'm going crazy. Its killing me. This road. I hate it. Its all its fault! If there wasn't a road, none of this would have happened!
- Almost out of food. running low on water.
- I'm dead. There is no hope for me. It's funny, really. I can almost see the end.
