  1. <Darkling> Leaving the other Pilots behind, Lit takes Rasia for a stroll through the base. "I have heard that your living situation is rather unsatisfiable at the moment." He starts.
  2. <Rasia> "Not home. Wanted book." Rasia laments, being sure to use past tense on the second part. Her hands get shoved into her sweatshirt's pouch. "No Lit."
  3. <Darkling> "I don't like that part either, but good news! At the end of the week we'll be moving home, together."
  4. <Rasia> A smile appears, fleeting though it is. "Trouble?"
  5. <Darkling> "Trouble?" He looks a bit confused at this.
  6. <Rasia> "Um." She steps back to pick the idea apart. "Lit in trouble?" It'd probably already been explained to her, but with Rasia's idea of what mattered...
  7. <Darkling> "No, not anymore. And between you and me, that lady they have watching you now, I don't think she's fit for duty." He spins his finger in circles at the side of his head for emphasis.
  8. <Rasia> Her teeth bare with laughter, and click together as it ends. #5"Mean lady."
  9. <Darkling> "That's putting it lightly." They turn a corner, heading into a long room lined with glas windows looking out into the surrounding woods.
  10. <Rasia> Her head swivels naturally, taking in the trees and signs of wildlife, a veritable archive that only hunters could read. "Rrr...Lit?"
  11. <Darkling> "I've booked the room for us. We're going to get some target practice in." He heads over to the wall where there is an assortment of ranged weaponry under lock and key.
  12. <Rasia> "..." Her fingers curl around a pistol, making all the proper motions but not quite flowing into it.
  13. <Darkling> Lit pulls some throwing knives off the wall. "I know you aren't used to this type of equipment, thought I'd show you the works."
  14. <Rasia> A quiet nod. She falls into position, taking a stance and holding the weapon. It takes her a moment to find her dominant eye. "Teach."
  15. <Darkling> He places the knives down on the table and walks over to her. "You want to hold it more like this." He adjusts her hand to grip the gun properly. "And take the safety off." He clicks the safety.
  16. <Rasia> Almost immediately she fires a shot off, pupils tightening and a ripple of tension shooting down her body. Reflexively she catches the brass. "Rrrr. Different."
  17. <Darkling> He points down the firing lane at the target. "Aim for the center."
  18. <Rasia> Her grip's rock-solid, this time she actually squeezes and puts a bullet downrange. Hit the shoulder. Just as suddenly, she blurts out. "Why Lit fight?"
  19. <Darkling> "Eh?" He's moved over to the adjacent lane and picked up his knives. "What do you mean?"
  20. <Rasia> It takes two more shots before she can force the words into the proper shape. #5"Lit command, Lit teach, Lit fight. Why?" 'Why' has a hesitance between h and y. She isn't used to the word.
  21. <Darkling> "I have the ability to fight, to lead, to help people. I feel it's my duty to do so." He tosses a knife down the lane, just missing the bullseye. "Why do ask?"
  22. <Rasia> Another shot. "Rrrr...Rasia...not know." She made it all the way to 'Tarzan' since the show started her at 'Caveman', definite upgrade.
  23. <Darkling> "Do you wonder why you fight?"
  24. Rasia nods, her relaxed hold sending a shot wide, down to the leg.
  25. <Darkling> "Well, you were raised to be a fighter." Another knife flies down the lane. "You are one of this base's greatest achievements in that respect, a perfect weapon, some would say."
  26. <Rasia> She pulls her gun back, looking it over. A weapon, like this gun...? "Why?"
  27. <Darkling> He shrugs. "That I don't know. Some higher up wanted a super soldier as one of the pilots, something more than normal training could provide." He sighs a bit, settings his hands and the knives down.
  28. <Rasia> "Rasia...Rasia more!"
  29. <Darkling> "You are more than they could have hoped for, in all regards Rasia." A genuine smile crosses his scarred face.
  30. <Rasia> Her teeth click. She stares at the man. In all regards...
  31. <Darkling> He flicks another knife down the lane with deadly accuracy. "You are more than they bargained for."
  32. Rasia flexes her hands, gazing down at them as she soaks it in. It's impressive, given how lean she's gotten without Lit's cooking fattening her up. Such a physically strong pilot, what could they need it for... "A-aesir?"
  33. <Darkling> "You mean yours? Or all of them?"
  34. <Rasia> "Mine."
  35. <Darkling> "I'm not sure, but it suits you. One of the scientists could probably explain it better than me."
  36. <Rasia> "...others?" May as well ask about the other conversation option, though her mind's whirring.
  37. <Darkling> "Wilhelm's, I don't know. It was shipped to us. Corrin's and Lahja's are prototypes grown and built right here."
  38. <Rasia> A frown of concentration as she picks the pistol up again, another two shots ringing out as she centers herself. "Lit..."
  39. <Darkling> He waits for her to continue, watching the holes appear in the target at the far end of the range.
  40. <Rasia> "Who father?" The paper opens up center of mass, the wall behind peeking at them.
  41. <Darkling> That certainly caught him off guard. "I was never disclosed that information. I knew your mother though, briefly."
  42. <Rasia> Her head turns so fast her neck pops. She doesn't even check her shot.
  43. <Darkling> "She worked here, one of the Valkyries. She treated me a few times now and then." His lips twitch into a bit of a grin. "A strong lady, in body and will. Stuck me with a needle as long as my finger once when I wouldn't settle down."
  44. <Rasia> It's a good thing that was her last bullet, else the gun might have gone off when she dropped it. "Where?"
  45. <Darkling> He pulls up his sleeve, showing a small circular scar near his shoulder. "Said I was a bigger baby then any she'd seen before."
  46. <Rasia> "--no!" She thumps his chest with her fist. "Where mama?!"
  47. <Darkling> "Oh... She.." He hoped to avoid that by showing her the scar. "She died giving birth to you."
  48. <Rasia> At least her distress is gone, but the defeated girl left in its wake is saddening. Fingers run through her hair, a habit picked up from her fellow pilot. #5"Mama..."
  49. <Darkling> "I'm sorry Rasia. I wish you could have known her."
  50. <Rasia> "Rr..." Her forehead meets Lit's stomach, arms hanging limp. "Alone..."
  51. <Darkling> "You're not alone Rasia. You've got me." He puts his arms on her shoulders. "I ain't going anywhere."
  52. <Rasia> A blink-and-you-miss-it smile passes, her arms working their way up to hug the massive man, scarcely making it halfway around. "Mama...grave?"
  53. <Darkling> "I can take you there, not today though." He thinks on what else he can do to cheer the poor girl up. "I can get you a picture of her, if you would like?"
  54. Rasia nods, standing attentively.
  55. <Darkling> "I'll bring you one later tonight then." He holds up the remaining six throwing knives he's got. "Let's see how well you can do with these now."
  56. <Darkling> Lit picks up the discarded gun, ejecting the clip and switching the safety on.
  57. <Rasia> She cradles the blades in her hand, taking one between her fingers. Her accuracy is lower than Lit's, but anywhere she does hit, the knife lodges itself much deeper. It's a peaceful, thoughtful look on her face. Poor thing's got a lot to digest.
