  1. After a night out at the restaurant, you are walking home. "Today has been a long day," you think to yourself. You pull out a cigarette pack from your pocket and realize that you have no lighter. You look around to see if there is anyone you could borrow a lighter from. You notice an alley a few feet away from you and decide to check it. The alleyway is nothing but your typical alleyway: litter everywhere, a repugnant smell, and posters all around the place. You do not see me. A poster that is barely sticking to the wall catches your attention. It is a plain black poster with the words "Chariottown, Obsidian Rd., 9 PM." printed on it. You do not recognize this place, and decide to take the poster with you and conduct a search on the Internet of it. You roll up the poster neatly and realize that behind the poster was a small compartment, a missing brick in the wall. Behind the brick is a small object which you cannot identify. You reach in and pull out a dusty, solid black rectangle.
  2.
  3. You are intrigued. You notice that the object is in fact a DVD cassette. You resume your walk home, pacing slightly faster. You are filled with anticipation. You cannot wait to see what your discoveries are actually about. After what seems to be 20 minutes have passed, you stand in front of a tall, dusty brick apartment block. You enter through the main door and access a fairly lit room with two separate hallways; one to your left, and one to your right. You head over to the left hallway and call for the elevator. The 6th floor button is the one that you press. You get out of the elevator and walk through a large hallway. You scramble through your left pocket until you feel a metal familiar to you. You pull out your apartment’s key and unlock apartment 638. Stepping in, you take off your shoes and do not notice me. You hang your coat and hurry on to your table to set the poster and the cassette.
  4.
  5. You boot up your desktop PC and set yourself to the task of looking up “Chariottown, Obsidian Road”. No results. You are perplexed. You try again with simply “Chariottown”. The result is the same. This time, you are alarmed. You unroll the poster again to make sure you typed the words correctly. Once you are sure that your spelling was exact, you resign and set the poster aside. You insert the DVD cassette into your DVD player and turn on your TV, only to see a motionless image of nothing. You laugh it off as some kind of joke and head on over to your fridge to grab a cold beer. You hear the noise of static and turn around. You do not see me. The image is now static. You are puzzled, and close your fridge. You head over to your couch and sit down. You check your watch. It is 9 PM. You brush it off as nothing but a coincidence. The image reverts to a slightly lit room with a man staring at the camera.
  6.
  7. A man of Caucasian origins is sitting on a chair that is out of sight. Aged probably around his thirties, he stares intently at the camera. He sports neatly cut short brown hair. He appears to be on high alert as his eyes are wide open and scrutinizing the area around the camera. A thoroughly insignificant looking man, otherwise. He begins his recitations:
  8.
  9. “Begin log 27. My name is Dr. ████. If you are viewing this video, then you too are [unintelligible]. Presently, it is 1999. At the time of speaking, it would be around 3 AM. At least, that is according to ███. A week ago, I was sent into a seemingly normal cottage in the middle of [unintelligible] along with 5 of my co-workers.” The doctor anxiously turns around every 3 seconds or so before resuming: “We couldn't see it. The group decided to settle down and investigate the place. The first night was a quiet night. We woke up and inevitably something went wrong.”
  10.
  11. The tape goes to static for a few seconds and resumes to reveal an empty room. The audio kept playing.
  12.
  13. “Dr. [static] was pacing around and mumbling to himself. When asked what was wrong, he would simply reply that it didn't sound right.”
  14.
  15. The image flickers for a second and the Doctor is back, resuming as if nothing had happened.
  16.
  17. “Eventually, he disappeared. Or perhaps I should put it as being brought along with-”
  18.
  19. The tape briefly stops. At the top right of your TV, you notice the arrows indicating that the tape is rewinding. It resumes.
  20.
  21. “Individuals affected by [unintelligible] will slowly start to [the audio shifts to static, but the Doctor is still seen talking]. I repeat, if you [the Doctor’s voice is muffled to the point of barely even being audible]. If you do so, then it will exist again.”
  22.
  23. You shake your head and your eyes start to water. You get a chill down your spine and refuse to acknowledge me. You take the DVR cassette out and open the window leading to your balcony. You walk to the balcony and toss it. You do the same with the poster. As you walk to your bedroom, tired as ever, you notice that your footsteps echo. You turn around, but see nothing. You run up to your bed and toss yourself in it.
  24.
  25. And here I am, right next to you, looking at your petrified face.
