  3. 1. What got you into battling?
  4. 1A: Well, I had been battling since I was about 16 locally but what really sparked my interest were the SMACK DVD's my friends used to watch. We would watch classic battles and be so inspired by them creatively we would instantly start writing verses. It was moments like that that would eventually lead to me getting more involved in the written format of battle rap that people love and follow currently.

  8. 2. What was your first battle, before youtube and leagues?
  9. 2A: I actually don't remember my first battle, but I just remember being in the cafeteria at Boston Latin Academy just dissing people for the entire lunch period lol...we would have little freestyle battles, sometimes acapella and sometimes to the beat of a lunch table drum and just have fun with it.

  12. 3. Who was your most honorable opponent -- the one who did the best against you?
  13. 3A: Hard to say who my most honorable opponent was. Many people hold my battle with JC as the greatest battle of all time in this written format, so my first instinct would be to say he was probably my most honorable opponent. But in all honesty, I've had a good amount of honorable opponents since I started. I would say B. Magic or JC did the best against me just off the strength that prior to our battles, the world had never seen the BEST JC or the BEST B. Magic emerge and I think I was a big part in bringing that out of those guys.

  15.
  16. 4. Who do you want to battle today?
  17. 4A: I would love to battle Conceited, Yung Ill, Big T, X Factor, Real Deal... even Loaded Lux. At the end of the day I want to battle the best, most skillful writers this battle rap culture has to offer because that's where I hope to leave my legacy when it's all said and done.
  18.
  19.
  20. 5. Who's your top 3 current battlers?
  21. 5A: Right now, my top 3 battle rappers in the game would be Hollow Da Don, Loaded Lux, and B. Magic.
  22.
  23.
  24. 6. Who's your favorite commercial artists?
  25. 6A: My favorite commercial artists as of now would be Jay-Z, Drake, J. Cole, Kanye and Kendrick Lamar.
  26.
  27.
  28. 7. How do you write your music?
  29. 7A: As far as my music, my songs are generally inspired by the beat I'm using. I genuinely believe every beat is saying something different to every artist, and as an artist we have to paint the picture of the vision we see for that instrumental and I believe how much people will relate to or just generally enjoy the record is based on how well we can execute this.

  31.
  32. 8. What mindset do you get in when you're about to battle?
  33. 8A: I try to block out the world. I try to focus on me. Not the crowd, not my opponent, not anyone but myself. I have a good amount of confidence in my ability as a battle emcee and I believe the only person who can defeat me when I'm focused, is me. So I just try to focus on myself and make sure I execute everything I need to in order to give the crowd an unforgettable experience.
  34.
  35. 9. How did you get into the battle leagues, like what did you have to do?
  36. 9A: For me, it was easier than I think it is for others, but I actually had the privilege of being invited to tryout for the Ultimate Rap League (URL) after just one very good performance in my city, and since then it's been history. But, for most others, it takes consistancy, hard work, the ability to network and market yourself, dedication to advancing and enhancing your craft, and most importantly it takes an understanding of how to be yourself because the last thing people in this culture are looking for, is someone who sounds like the next man.

  39. 10. What projects are you putting out soon? Any mixtapes or albums?
  40. 10A: I have a mixtape coming out by the name of "Welcome To Bosstown" which will be dropping towards the end of May, Exact date coming soon. After that I am working on a 7 track EP that will probably drop toward the end of summer. But definitely stay tuned into www.chillajones.com for the latest news on these projects including the information of where to find these projects once they are released!
  41.
  42. 11. You're a member of the battle rap collective 'Writers Bloque.' Who brought this together and whats the overall objective?
  43. 11A:The original members of Writers Bloque are Big Kannon, B. Magic and myself. We added Danja Zone shortly after, and then expanded to add 40 Barrs, Danny Myers, Ooops and Daylyt. One thing people assume is because we came together through battle rap, that we are a battle rap collective. This isn't the case though. We actually still have interest in battling one another and some of us have already actually battled. Our main purpose though is to build a profile bigger than battle rap that combines our fanbases and expands into music, merchandise and other things for our brand collectively, and individually. We are from all different parts of the country so we help each other promote in our respective areas of the country in order for us all to benefit. Expect to hear a collaborative effort from us this summer and look out for all of our solo projects coming very soon.
