  1. (06:49:26 AM) TimeGentleman: Evening all!
  2. (06:49:37 AM) Syd_desktop: Hey
  3. (06:50:08 AM) Syd_desktop: We'll be starting in about 10 minutes or so. I think I have everything set up and ready to go.
  4. (06:50:33 AM) Syd_desktop: And this time I'll be able to talk in chat without the sound going out since I have my laptop handy.
  5. (06:50:40 AM) Cheeseness: Hey! :D
  6. (06:51:22 AM) TimeGentleman: sweet Syd
  7. (06:51:36 AM) TimeGentleman: hey Cheeseness :)
  8. (06:52:23 AM) TimeGentleman left the room (quit: Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client).
  9. (06:52:37 AM) TimeGentleman [4d67baf4@hide-BF4D4B18.mibbit.com] entered the room.
  10. (06:53:24 AM) Mimness: Hi ^_^
  11. (06:53:33 AM) Syd_desktop: Hey Mimness
  12. (06:54:37 AM) Mimness: Hey Syd! You're a legend.
  13. (06:55:26 AM) Mimness: As is Cheese. As am I. Oh yeah, and the guys that made the game. They're pretty nifty too.
  14. (06:56:07 AM) Cheeseness: Aww, hear that, TimeGentleman? You're pretty nifty ^_^
  15. (06:56:29 AM) Viridian_: Dan, are you here?
  16. (06:56:30 AM) TimeGentleman: Thanks Mimness!
  17. (06:56:59 AM) Cheeseness: I'm not sure if Dan will be joining us
  18. (06:57:02 AM) Mimness: We're the only four chatting. Everyone else is idle. And you know what they say about idle hands.
  19. (06:57:11 AM) Cheeseness: He said he'd make it if he could (but I'm under the impression he's pretty swamped at the moment)
  20. (06:57:23 AM) Cheeseness: Or were you asking if his spirit was with us?
  21. (06:57:41 AM) The_Patient [52b024fc@hide-BF4D4B18.mibbit.com] entered the room.
  22. (06:57:42 AM) TimeGentleman: That's not Viridian_ of Viridian Games, is it?
  23. (06:57:43 AM) Mimness: Ha ha ha!

  43. (06:59:21 AM) Viridian_: Me!
  44. Viridian Viridian_
  45. (06:59:23 AM) Syd_desktop: Like last time, just say something if there's an easter egg or bit of dialogue you don't want me to miss, or if it looks like I'm going to forget something.
  46. (06:59:23 AM) The_Patient: that game is funny and satirical
  47. (06:59:42 AM) Fireflower: you have two computers now Syd? :)
  48. (06:59:42 AM) TimeGentleman: Ok Syd, will spam you!
  49. (06:59:45 AM) The_Patient: i have the demo ready but i have yet to play
  50. (06:59:49 AM) TimeGentleman: Hi Fireflower
  51. (06:59:54 AM) Syd_desktop: I got my laptop in a chair next to me for chatting during the stream if I need it
  52. (06:59:58 AM) Fireflower: Hi Ben
  53. (07:00:07 AM) Viridian_: Where exactly is the stream?
  54. (07:00:07 AM) TimeGentleman: Syd remember to start the game
  55. (07:00:10 AM) Meeps [18c1bb88@hide-B64552F4.mibbit.com] entered the room.
  56. (07:00:13 AM) Syd_desktop: In just a few minutes
  57. (07:00:13 AM) TimeGentleman: Syd
  58. (07:00:15 AM) TimeGentleman: Sydf

  60. (07:00:18 AM) Cheeseness: Hey Meeps
  61. (07:00:20 AM) TimeGentleman: Syd remember to walk right
  62. (07:00:24 AM) Syd_desktop: Hah
  63. (07:00:24 AM) Meeps: hey hey
  64. (07:00:27 AM) Cheeseness: Syd: Remember to click on stuff
  65. (07:00:34 AM) Cheeseness: Use Dan on Dan
  66. (07:00:35 AM) TimeGentleman: Syd remember to look at things and use objects with other objects
  67. (07:00:36 AM) Mimness: TimeGentleman knows how to stream, awww yeah.
  68. (07:00:41 AM) TimeGentleman: :)
  69. (07:00:45 AM) Fireflower: cool syd
  70. (07:00:52 AM) swordfischer: is the stream live?
  71. (07:00:53 AM) Viridian_: Try to deliberately screw up the pathfinding because there's some funny dialog there.
  72. (07:00:55 AM) Cheeseness: Not just yet
  73. (07:01:04 AM) Mimness: But it says RIGHT NOW!
  74. (07:01:05 AM) Cheeseness: We're giving it a couple of moments
  75. (07:01:16 AM) The_Patient: i want my money back!
  76. (07:01:18 AM) TimeGentleman: Hope the music doesn't fuck up with this game, it was a little bvorked on the BTDT stream in places
  77. (07:01:38 AM) TimeGentleman: So, TGP is the sequel to BTDT. Originally BTDT was donationware (before the Special Edition), whereas TGP was designed to be charged for. So it looks nicer and has a bit more depth to the structure, characters, story etc
  78. (07:01:49 AM) Syd_desktop: Okay, I'm going to get this going. This is the first time I've used Open Broadcaster for streaming, but hopefully it will behave and do its job.
  79. (07:02:01 AM) Cheeseness: Syd and I tested it a little last night and it seemed OK
  80. (07:02:04 AM) TimeGentleman: Good luck, everyone
  81. (07:02:19 AM) Mimness: Alriiiiight.
  82. (07:03:11 AM) powrtoch [573ebd02@hide-BF4D4B18.mibbit.com] entered the room.
  83. (07:03:17 AM) swordfischer: hi powrtoch :P

  86. (07:03:31 AM) powrtoch: swordfischer: The heck you doing here.
  87. (07:03:41 AM) Cheeseness: powrtoch: All my fans come here :b
  88. (07:03:43 AM) swordfischer: powrtoch: having an awesome time
  89. (07:03:50 AM) BrutalLinuxFan: stalking swordfischer.
  90. (07:04:00 AM) swordfischer: dat you john?
  91. (07:04:04 AM) Cheeseness: We're live at the moment

  94. (07:04:09 AM) BrutalLinuxFan: pretty much
  95. (07:04:13 AM) powrtoch: I may be having some trouble - Should I still be seeing the double fine logo in twitch tv?
  96. (07:04:17 AM) powrtoch: Oh, there we go
  97. (07:04:19 AM) swordfischer: yeah Cheeseness got it going in mplayer :D
  98. (07:04:26 AM) Mimness [76d0dcaa@hide-BF4D4B18.mibbit.com] entered the room.
  99. (07:04:31 AM) TimeGentleman: Note everything is exagerated cooler versions of the BTDT events
  100. (07:04:32 AM) Cheeseness: swordfischer: Awesome - I'll be adding instructions for that soon
  101. (07:04:40 AM) Cheeseness: I love this sequence, TimeGentleman
  102. (07:04:52 AM) TimeGentleman: Dan punching a dino is a ref to a critic who said BTDT was against disabled people :S
  103. (07:04:58 AM) Cheeseness: Wait, what?
  104. (07:04:59 AM) Viridian_: Wow, Ben and Dan outsmarted someone! Of course, it was Ben and Dan...
  105. (07:04:59 AM) Cheeseness: lol
  106. (07:05:05 AM) TimeGentleman: starts with a sound of thunder - ref to the Bradbury time-travel story
  107. (07:05:19 AM) Viridian_: Awesome, I love that story!
  108. (07:05:21 AM) TimeGentleman: first line is kind of self-referential. think I might have got that from Kev Smith's Chasing Dogma comic that Dan bought me years before.
  109. (07:05:22 AM) Cheeseness: Nice interface tips
  110. (07:05:35 AM) The_Patient: someone was offended by BTDT?
  111. (07:05:41 AM) The_Patient: hahaha
  112. (07:05:41 AM) powrtoch left the room (quit: Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client).
  113. (07:05:47 AM) TimeGentleman: yeah, surprising amount of people got stuck on first screen of BTDT
  114. (07:06:09 AM) Viridian_: This needs a fully-voiced special edition.
  115. (07:06:10 AM) TimeGentleman: cos they didn't think to look for dropdown menu or use right mouse button!
  116. (07:06:10 AM) e6r6i6c [4df8ae42@hide-BF4D4B18.mibbit.com] entered the room.
  117. (07:06:11 AM) Viridian_: In VGA.
  118. (07:06:31 AM) Mimness: With wee breaks! Generous leaders.
  119. (07:06:33 AM) The_Patient: well ofcourse!
  120. (07:06:37 AM) powrtoch [573ebd02@hide-BF4D4B18.mibbit.com] entered the room.
  121. (07:06:43 AM) e6r6i6c left the room (quit: Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client).
  122. (07:06:43 AM) TimeGentleman: Rain effects - higher production values already!
  123. (07:06:57 AM) Cheeseness: I discovered these last week. So awesome :D http://crabshackgallery.com/images/TGPMinis.gif
  124. (07:07:01 AM) Viridian_: You had to custom-code that, right>
  125. (07:07:04 AM) Viridian_: ?
  126. (07:07:06 AM) Cheeseness: (Dan's wedding picture was also awesome)
  127. (07:07:15 AM) e6r6i6c [4df8ae42@hide-50D287EE.mibbit.com] entered the room.
  128. (07:07:21 AM) TimeGentleman: yeah, I think Nick from Zomboid did most of the particle effects for us
  129. (07:07:30 AM) Mimness: Wanking!
  130. (07:07:35 AM) TimeGentleman: Cheeseness those mini sprites also by Mash
  131. (07:07:45 AM) ViridianGames [44284364@hide-B64552F4.mibbit.com] entered the room.
  132. (07:07:49 AM) zorch [ac0e4c89@hide-50D287EE.mibbit.com] entered the room.
  133. (07:07:51 AM) TimeGentleman: This is the start of the Dan-as-sidekick plot arc.
  134. (07:08:01 AM) TimeGentleman: Love the detail on Ben's fingers in this anim
  135. (07:08:24 AM) Fireflower: what's the max resolution for the game?
  136. (07:08:28 AM) TimeGentleman: the reuse of the warehouse and previously seen (but unusable) items like the lift arrow ties TGP in with BTDT nicely. We wanted to do the same kind of things BTTF 2 does, like using the briefly-seen bunting from the first film as a notable prop in the second. We also wanted to make the sequel feel necessary, by using it to tie up loose ends from the first gam
  137. (07:08:35 AM) TimeGentleman: Fireflower I think it's 400 by 600
  138. (07:08:44 AM) Fireflower: ok
  139. (07:08:47 AM) BrutalLinuxFan left the room (quit: Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client).
  140. (07:09:01 AM) johndrinkwater [545c6c08@hide-50D287EE.mibbit.com] entered the room.
  141. (07:09:07 AM) TimeGentleman: Zombie Cow was previous name of Size Five btw
  142. (07:09:14 AM) TimeGentleman: That joke no longer makes sense!
  143. (07:09:23 AM) ViridianGames left the room (quit: Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client).
  144. (07:09:29 AM) Cheeseness: TimeGentleman: Obscure jokes are the best
  145. (07:09:55 AM) TimeGentleman: this sequence with Ben breaking stuff in a blue room is a Fate Of Atlantis ref
  146. (07:10:03 AM) Cheeseness: I love that Dan decided to stand under the water and grin
  147. (07:10:31 AM) Viridian_: Man, how did I not get all these references? Maybe I just played all those games too long ago.
  148. (07:10:35 AM) TimeGentleman: yeh cheeseness the emotion anims in TGP (none in BTDT) really help the humour
  149. (07:10:39 AM) TimeGentleman: Sparks and dust! Pretty!
  150. (07:10:41 AM) Cheeseness: Yeah, they're fantastic
  151. (07:10:54 AM) Cheeseness: I'm glad you kept the walk and talk styles though
  152. (07:11:02 AM) Fireflower: any Police Quest references? ;)
  153. (07:11:05 AM) TimeGentleman: doesn't make sense that the inventory items from this room are still coloured blue but hey
  154. (07:11:16 AM) TimeGentleman: fireflower nah, we never played the Sierras
  155. (07:11:23 AM) Fireflower: :)
  156. (07:11:30 AM) Viridian_: Took me a while to realize you can't pull that nail out yet.
  157. (07:11:31 AM) TimeGentleman: I get a DArkseed ref in somewhere though, which I was proud of
  158. (07:11:52 AM) TimeGentleman: Is that the name? The HR Giger adventure anyway
  159. (07:12:00 AM) Viridian_: Yep, that was it.
  160. (07:12:32 AM) TimeGentleman: so this is where you finally find out that the 4 red lights from BTDT kiiiind of mean something
  161. (07:12:52 AM) swordfischer: I just had to count all 5 red lights :>
  162. (07:13:18 AM) Mimness: O_o
  163. (07:13:18 AM) TimeGentleman: Ha, this is where we point out that BTDT made NO sense. Less sense thatn LOST even
  164. (07:13:26 AM) Cheeseness: :D
  165. (07:13:45 AM) Viridian_: Time travel be like that.
  166. (07:14:03 AM) TimeGentleman: EXACTLY Viridian_
  167. (07:14:07 AM) Cheeseness: How far in the future were future Ben and Dan from?
  168. (07:14:15 AM) TimeGentleman: time travel gets you out of all plotholes, it's awesome
  169. (07:14:27 AM) TimeGentleman: "You don't know" - Galaxy Quest ref
  170. (07:14:38 AM) Cheeseness: :D
  171. (07:14:39 AM) TimeGentleman: Dan chose not to use 1138 as the code because when he did the animation, Ben was blatantly just pushing the same number 4 times!
  172. (07:14:41 AM) Viridian_: 0451!
  173. (07:14:46 AM) Viridian_: That's the code I would use.
  174. (07:14:49 AM) TimeGentleman: cheeseness, ummmmm, 2015
  175. (07:14:57 AM) Viridian_: Props for anyone who gets that reference.
  176. (07:15:03 AM) TimeGentleman: deus ex?
  177. (07:15:07 AM) Cheeseness: TimeGentleman: Are you turning evil yet?
  178. (07:15:09 AM) TimeGentleman: no system shock
  179. (07:15:17 AM) johndrinkwater: deus ex iirc
  180. (07:15:19 AM) Viridian_: TG: Correct.

  185. (07:15:30 AM) Cheeseness: Uh oh
  186. (07:15:36 AM) The_Patient: revelations
  187. (07:16:06 AM) TimeGentleman: lots more one-off anims in this game, love all the slapstick DAn did
  188. (07:16:22 AM) TimeGentleman: CLOUDS look!
  189. (07:16:26 AM) Cheeseness: :O
  190. (07:16:29 AM) Cheeseness: Ha!
  191. (07:16:40 AM) Cheeseness: So were people offended by TGP too? :D
  192. (07:16:40 AM) Mimness: Woooooah!
  193. (07:16:41 AM) TimeGentleman: Robotnik-esque mech
  194. (07:16:52 AM) TimeGentleman: Probably, you know what people are like
  195. (07:17:15 AM) TimeGentleman: Saul Bass titles: trendy AND easy
  196. (07:17:16 AM) Cheeseness: Wow, that was a long cold opening
  197. (07:17:21 AM) The_Patient: people wait to be offended mostly
  198. (07:17:23 AM) Cheeseness: I totally didn't realise that more titles were coming
  199. (07:17:34 AM) TimeGentleman: I find that offensive The_Patient
  200. (07:17:39 AM) The_Patient: oh noes
  201. (07:17:42 AM) Cheeseness: "I've never trusted you, Hitler" >_<
  202. (07:17:52 AM) The_Patient: that is brilliant
  203. (07:17:55 AM) TimeGentleman: This entire scene is DAn-written
  204. (07:18:09 AM) TimeGentleman: Top stuff!
  205. (07:18:24 AM) Cheeseness: Sarlacc!
  206. (07:18:26 AM) Mimness: Always choose cake.
  207. (07:18:45 AM) Fireflower: Sarlacc pit?
  208. (07:19:09 AM) TimeGentleman: This is kind of a tough dialogue puzzle, but it's funny so what the hell
  209. (07:19:14 AM) Cheeseness: I love Hitler's petulant face
  210. (07:19:34 AM) Cheeseness: Does that far dinosaur have a metal jaw?
  211. (07:19:50 AM) TimeGentleman: Cheeseness yeh he's the main dino stooge, gets featured later on
  212. (07:19:57 AM) Cheeseness: Ah, awesome :)
  213. (07:20:07 AM) TimeGentleman: I google translated his name and everything
  214. (07:20:08 AM) Cheeseness: Woo, Star Wars reference
  215. (07:20:45 AM) Cheeseness: Nazi Inc. :D
  216. (07:21:02 AM) Viridian_: The whole LucasArts "you can't die" thing really did a number on adventure games, didn't it? Everybody does that now.
  217. (07:21:03 AM) TimeGentleman: I assume you're not stuck Syd...
  218. Syd Syd_desktop
  219. (07:21:11 AM) Viridian_: It's so obvious once you think about it.
  220. (07:21:15 AM) Cheeseness: I suspect Syd's just exploring everything for us
  221. (07:21:21 AM) Cheeseness: (because it's all great ^_^ )
  222. (07:21:22 AM) Syd: No, just having fun with it
  223. (07:21:34 AM) powrtoch left the room (quit: Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client).
  224. (07:21:48 AM) Syd: I have a guide if I need it
  225. (07:21:49 AM) TimeGentleman: Yeah, trhink it was Monkey Island that popularised that Viridian_
  226. (07:21:56 AM) TimeGentleman: 1138!
  227. (07:21:57 AM) The_Patient: you can die
  228. (07:22:00 AM) The_Patient: in broken sword 2
  229. (07:22:05 AM) TimeGentleman: Detention Cell 1138!
  230. (07:22:28 AM) TimeGentleman: We reference Star Wars more than JJ Abrams
  231. (07:22:38 AM) Fireflower: Guess having real swastika symbols would have been too offending/illegal?
  232. (07:22:40 AM) The_Patient left the room (quit: Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client).
  233. (07:22:43 AM) Mimness left the room (quit: Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client).
  234. (07:22:53 AM) Mimness [76d0dcaa@hide-6C77D8AA.mibbit.com] entered the room.
  235. (07:22:58 AM) The_Patient [52b024fc@hide-BF4D4B18.mibbit.com] entered the room.
  236. (07:23:05 AM) Viridian_: While I usually abhor self-censorship, it;s actually funnier this way.
  237. (07:23:05 AM) The_Patient: damnit chat stopped working for me
  238. (07:23:10 AM) TimeGentleman: Could have caused problems with the German market Fireflower
  239. (07:23:18 AM) Cheeseness: The coathanger prevalence makes it funnier
  240. (07:23:20 AM) Fireflower: yeah, thought so
  241. (07:23:23 AM) The_Patient: anyway, i think the whole jj abrams being the director of new starwars thing is a bad idea
  242. (07:23:26 AM) TimeGentleman: But that's not why we did it. It's effects of time travel
  243. (07:23:36 AM) TimeGentleman: Eisenbauer = Ironjaw
  244. (07:23:47 AM) TimeGentleman: Clive Eckles- a mispelt ref to the english cake for some reason.
  245. (07:24:02 AM) Cheeseness: lol
  246. (07:24:02 AM) gingerale [gin@hide-11339A7.dhcp.inet.fi] entered the room.

  248. (07:24:11 AM) Mimness: Not my chicken, not my chicken!
  249. (07:24:19 AM) Cheeseness: What a face
  250. (07:24:30 AM) TimeGentleman: This is surprisingly harsh..!
  251. (07:24:32 AM) Cheeseness: How cranky is Dan right now
  252. (07:25:07 AM) Mimness: Young Magnum PI
  253. (07:25:20 AM) TimeGentleman: Jurassic Park ref
  254. (07:25:26 AM) Cheeseness: He would have been 3
  255. (07:25:59 AM) TimeGentleman: Dan and I always wished for a Adventures Of Young Higgins show
  256. (07:26:09 AM) Cheeseness: :D
  257. (07:26:26 AM) TimeGentleman: SAm and Max ref!
  258. (07:26:36 AM) TimeGentleman: Plus, cog from BTDT
  259. (07:26:42 AM) TimeGentleman: Robin Hood Prince Of Thieves quote
  260. (07:26:48 AM) Cheeseness: I love that you guys seem to be pointing at the ground
  261. (07:26:53 AM) Fireflower: ADventures of Young Higgins would have been cool :)
  262. (07:27:19 AM) Viridian_: Foreshadowing!
  263. (07:27:43 AM) TimeGentleman: I like the ghostbusters esque effect coming up
  264. (07:27:51 AM) TimeGentleman: 1138 AGAIN
  265. (07:28:08 AM) Cheeseness: Who here has *seen* THX 1138?
  266. (07:28:14 AM) TimeGentleman: Me!¬
  267. (07:28:16 AM) Viridian_: Have you actually seen THX 1138?
  268. (07:28:20 AM) Viridian_: Oh, wow.
  269. (07:28:24 AM) TimeGentleman: Yep :)
  270. (07:28:28 AM) Viridian_: Jinx, Cheesenees :)
  271. (07:28:29 AM) Cheeseness: I've got it on DVD ^_^
  272. (07:28:32 AM) TimeGentleman: I have seen Star Wars more tho...
  273. (07:28:48 AM) TimeGentleman: Butterflies - another Sound Of Thunder ref
  274. (07:28:49 AM) Cheeseness: Yeah, I haven't come back for a second sitting of THX
  275. (07:28:53 AM) danthat [519f5846@hide-BF4D4B18.mibbit.com] entered the room.
  276. (07:28:58 AM) Cheeseness: Hey Dan!
  277. (07:28:59 AM) TimeGentleman: Hello Dan!
  278. (07:29:03 AM) TimeGentleman: If it is REALLY you
  279. (07:29:06 AM) danthat: HELLO SORRY I GOT CAUGHT UP
  280. (07:29:11 AM) Fireflower: Hi Dan
  281. (07:29:22 AM) danthat: Hello!
  282. (07:29:28 AM) TimeGentleman: You got here just in time for the massive time-vagina
  283. (07:29:36 AM) danthat: Christ, are we only here?
  284. (07:29:52 AM) TimeGentleman: That Hitler dialogue puzzle takes half an hour, remember?
  285. (07:29:59 AM) Cheeseness: danthat: Sid did all the Hitler dialogue :D
  286. (07:30:00 AM) Viridian_: Hey, Dan!
  287. (07:30:02 AM) danthat: Oh yeah.
  288. (07:30:03 AM) TimeGentleman: ;)
  289. (07:30:09 AM) Fireflower: :)
  290. (07:30:10 AM) Viridian_: Again, if that is you, Dan :)
  291. (07:30:11 AM) danthat: Ha ha
  292. (07:30:37 AM) TimeGentleman: Ooh, Fate Of Atlantis paths choice pastiche coming up!
  293. (07:30:54 AM) Viridian_: I logged into Twitter earlier today for the first time in weeks, thanks goodness I did or I'd have missed this.
  294. (07:30:57 AM) Viridian_: Oh, yeah!
  295. (07:31:00 AM) Fireflower: what PEGI reating does this game have (if it has one)? :)
  296. (07:31:03 AM) TimeGentleman: Only Dan can speak IN ALL CAPS WITH NO PUNCTUATION LIKE THAT
  297. (07:31:08 AM) Viridian_: Does this actuallymake any difference? Other than some dialog?
  298. (07:31:14 AM) danthat: 'if it had one, it'd be high
  299. (07:31:17 AM) Mimness: Oh yay! Dan's here too! We've collected the whole set!
  300. (07:31:22 AM) TimeGentleman: Viridian_ nope :)
  301. (07:31:48 AM) danthat: i think the joke is that the FoA choice made no choice, but actually there's one puzzle you can do slightly differently later on
  302. (07:31:50 AM) Cheeseness: Mimness: When we have four developers, we can build a hotel
  303. (07:31:52 AM) TimeGentleman: fireflower depends how high you set the racism slider in the settings
  304. (07:32:06 AM) Syd: I'll skip repeat dialogue as it comes
  305. (07:32:10 AM) danthat: *made no difference
  306. (07:32:15 AM) Viridian_: Temporal Stealth Action!
  307. (07:32:15 AM) TimeGentleman: grey matter not a reference to Grey Matter
  308. (07:32:15 AM) Fireflower: racism slider?
  309. (07:32:21 AM) Syd: To speed things up
  310. (07:32:29 AM) Viridian_: Wow, that sounds pretty good. I'm writing that one down for later.
  311. (07:32:30 AM) TimeGentleman: ok syd
  312. (07:32:51 AM) Cheeseness: Nobody ever lols at my Monopoly references ;_;
  313. (07:32:52 AM) danthat: In the options there's a Racism slider. It makes no difference, but won't go down below 30%.
  314. (07:33:00 AM) danthat: The game is not racist.
  315. (07:33:16 AM) Cheeseness: Not more than 70% racist anyway
  316. (07:33:24 AM) gingerale left the room (quit: Ping timeout).
  317. (07:33:32 AM) danthat: If anything, BTDT is racist
  318. (07:33:33 AM) Mimness: Cheeseness lol.
  319. (07:33:39 AM) TimeGentleman: I like how Eckles runs his dialogue puzzle like a prick
  320. (07:33:45 AM) Fireflower: ok :s
  321. (07:34:02 AM) TimeGentleman: The first step here is to quote Terminator, obv
  322. (07:34:11 AM) Cheeseness: :D
  323. (07:34:22 AM) gingerale [gin@hide-11339A7.dhcp.inet.fi] entered the room.
  324. (07:34:48 AM) Viridian_: ALL CAPS!
  325. (07:34:50 AM) TimeGentleman: Talking of rasp, We wondered about cutting down on English words like brolly, or even having a translation guide, but decided that players would be smart enough to get it from context and that it adds to the atmos.
  326. (07:34:51 AM) danthat: I hate this room. Pitting it all together in its various time-states was a fucking pain in the arse
  327. (07:34:53 AM) Viridian_: For great drama!
  328. (07:35:08 AM) Mimness: Oh you guys are so irresponsible with time.
  329. (07:35:19 AM) TimeGentleman: danthat there are like three different sets of responses just for the straw in the corner!
  330. (07:35:23 AM) danthat: I think this "room" is actually three rooms, depending on where you are in the game. So making any changes was a pain
  331. (07:35:24 AM) Cheeseness: TimeGentleman: Good call. I find that dumbing language down/catering for US audiences is overrated
  332. (07:35:33 AM) Cheeseness: People can look things up
  333. (07:35:58 AM) TimeGentleman: yeh i always enjoy trying to figure out the american education system etc
  334. (07:36:14 AM) danthat: I love that orange wibbly line. Such amazing special effects <3
  335. (07:36:23 AM) Cheeseness: It's great :D
  336. (07:36:34 AM) TimeGentleman: ghostbusters-esque, i call it danthat :)
  337. (07:36:38 AM) danthat: Hah, these questions are harsh
  338. (07:37:04 AM) Cheeseness: Syd: Did you know that, or have you just learned something?
  339. (07:37:11 AM) Fireflower: what happens if you answer incorrectly?
  340. (07:37:21 AM) Viridian_: This sequence reminds me of an episode of Spongebob.
  341. (07:37:37 AM) TimeGentleman: if you get that red baron one correct, he decides you must be a Nazi!
  342. (07:37:51 AM) TimeGentleman: If you complain, he says "my test, my rules" :)
  343. (07:37:56 AM) Cheeseness: heh
  344. (07:37:56 AM) Viridian_: I'm not a Nazi! I just read a lot!
  345. (07:38:12 AM) Cheeseness: TimeGentleman: Do you need to reload after that,or can you recover and answer the questions again?
  346. (07:38:21 AM) Syd: Hehe, LOTR
  347. (07:38:23 AM) GameClubFan_901926 [d8dd9992@hide-BF4D4B18.mibbit.com] entered the room.
  348. (07:38:28 AM) TimeGentleman: Samwise Gamgee quote!
  349. (07:38:38 AM) Cheeseness: Aww, poor Dan
  350. (07:38:42 AM) TimeGentleman: Om nom nom also an internet meme ref
  351. (07:38:42 AM) Cheeseness: He never gets to hold things
  352. (07:38:57 AM) TimeGentleman: Hah, Dan is so cute in this game (also IRL)
  353. (07:39:03 AM) Cheeseness: <3
  354. (07:39:26 AM) danthat: I like Dan's character arc in this game. It went in quite late, because I felt I wanted to do something "indie" and "say something". This game wound up largely being about Dan's ascention to Adventurer, which is odd because it didn't go in until quite late in development
  355. (07:39:40 AM) Viridian_: Really!
  356. (07:39:44 AM) danthat: But it works really well
  357. (07:39:47 AM) danthat: ties it all together
  358. (07:39:54 AM) Cheeseness: :D
  359. (07:40:06 AM) gingerale left the room (quit: Ping timeout).
  360. (07:40:11 AM) TimeGentleman: Prof Hartnell - ref to the first Doctor Who, and Prof Alan contracts to PAL which means more later
  361. (07:40:11 AM) Mimness: Woah, that guy must be in I.T.
  362. (07:40:12 AM) Cheeseness: Prophetic IT Crowd reference?
  363. (07:40:23 AM) gingerale [gin@hide-11339A7.dhcp.inet.fi] entered the room.
  364. (07:40:25 AM) Cheeseness: (think my stream is lagging a little)
  365. (07:41:02 AM) danthat: ha ha ha. This game is funny.
  366. (07:41:06 AM) danthat: It's so deadpan.
  367. (07:41:22 AM) derm [54cb4186@hide-B64552F4.mibbit.com] entered the room.
  368. (07:41:23 AM) Cheeseness: llol
  369. (07:41:25 AM) danthat: There's something about reading it that makes it 10x better than voices.
  370. (07:41:48 AM) Viridian_: Yeah, also keeps the game from being a gig in size.
  371. (07:41:58 AM) TimeGentleman: Hah, yeah Danthat, I jhust switched from The Tick to Simon Pegg voice in one sentence
  372. (07:42:23 AM) Cheeseness: I can't remember if I asked this when we played BTDT, but if you did another game or reworked one of these, do you have an idea for who you'd cast as yourselves?
  373. (07:42:24 AM) TimeGentleman: ha ha Ben is such a prick
  374. (07:42:30 AM) danthat: the inventory in this game is nice, to. very tactile
  375. (07:42:51 AM) TimeGentleman: cheeseness we had two guys do voices for us v well in the BTDT special features
  376. (07:42:59 AM) Cheeseness: Oh oh, I forgot about that!
  377. (07:43:03 AM) Cheeseness: TimeGentleman: I'm totally reading everything in Patrick Warburton's Tick voice now
  378. (07:43:12 AM) danthat: I think the guys who did the BTDT:SE comic thing were really good. If we voiced another, I'd probably ask them first#
  379. (07:43:16 AM) TimeGentleman: cheeseness especially when anyone says chum
  380. (07:43:22 AM) Cheeseness: :D
  381. (07:43:27 AM) Viridian_: I have not seen this special feature thingy.
  382. (07:43:33 AM) Viridian_: I feel left out.
  383. (07:43:33 AM) Fireflower: will you get that floppy?
  384. (07:43:41 AM) TimeGentleman: viridian_ comes with BTDT SE
  385. (07:43:41 AM) danthat: Yep, later
  386. Viridian Viridian_
  387. (07:43:48 AM) Fireflower: cool :)
  388. (07:44:00 AM) danthat: I pt off these climbing anims for aaaaages. Pain
  389. (07:44:01 AM) danthat: in
  390. (07:44:01 AM) danthat: the
  391. (07:44:02 AM) danthat: arse
  392. (07:44:04 AM) Viridian_: Hmmm...did I get that when I bought TGP on Steam?
  393. Viridian Viridian_
  394. (07:44:11 AM) Syd: I love the text adventure part of TGP
  395. (07:44:12 AM) Cheeseness: Viridian_:Yeah
  396. (07:44:14 AM) TimeGentleman: should have Viridian_
  397. (07:44:17 AM) Cheeseness: Check in your steamapps folder
  398. (07:44:23 AM) Viridian_: Okay, I will.
  399. (07:44:24 AM) Cheeseness: under common/Ben There, Dan That
  400. (07:44:24 AM) danthat: ALSO: close up of Ben's tumy incoming!
  401. (07:44:27 AM) TimeGentleman: Noooo CLiiiive
  402. (07:44:36 AM) Syd: I have the steam version and I got all the extras
  403. (07:44:40 AM) danthat: It's only in there briefly, so watch for it!
  404. (07:44:41 AM) TimeGentleman: NOT based on my real tummy >:(
  405. (07:45:00 AM) Viridian_: Poor Eckles.
  406. (07:45:08 AM) danthat: Obviously not BECAUSE IT'S ONLY 600x800 WE DIDN'T HAVE ENOUGH PIXELS!
  407. (07:45:08 AM) GameClubFan_854555 [c9bffe8f@hide-6C77D8AA.mibbit.com] entered the room.
  408. (07:45:09 AM) Viridian_: Does he live at the end? I can't remember.
  409. (07:45:09 AM) danthat: lolololol
  410. (07:45:21 AM) Mimness: :O This game is brutal!
  411. (07:45:21 AM) Fireflower: ouch
  412. (07:45:25 AM) TimeGentleman: ow
  413. (07:45:25 AM) Cheeseness: I love how past Eckles had to watch
  414. (07:45:32 AM) Cheeseness: With that same expression of surprise
  415. (07:45:38 AM) danthat: Oh God I hate this room too.
  416. (07:45:39 AM) TimeGentleman: Item on the back of the door, similar to the keys puzzle in DOTT but fairer because you get to see it!
  417. (07:46:04 AM) danthat: This whole room is a DoTT/ BttF ref, really
  418. (07:46:05 AM) TimeGentleman: This reminds me of a puzzle in CoMI
  419. (07:46:10 AM) Cheeseness: Mim and I are reading the dialogue out loud as The Tick :D
  420. (07:46:22 AM) Cheeseness: Looks... Victorian
  421. (07:46:29 AM) Viridian_: TG: That was the ONE THING I needed a hint for in DOTT.
  422. (07:46:33 AM) TimeGentleman: potent booze - foreshadowing
  423. (07:46:46 AM) TimeGentleman: The presence of handbag and tights in the prof's home is explained a bit later (not the anachronism of tights in the 40s, which was also explored in an episode of britcom Goodnight Sweetheart)
  424. (07:46:59 AM) Cheeseness: Is britcom a real word?
  425. (07:47:06 AM) TimeGentleman: viridian_ yeah, on the one hand it subverts the player's assumptions
  426. (07:47:13 AM) TimeGentleman: on the other hand it's fucking harsh!
  427. (07:47:25 AM) TimeGentleman: quiet Max, I mean Cheeseness
  428. (07:47:27 AM) danthat: Quite a lot of this room is tiny and fiddly. Should have done the mouse stuff closer to camera, Schafer-style
  429. (07:47:29 AM) The_Patient: what
  430. (07:47:30 AM) Cheeseness: :D
  431. (07:47:41 AM) TimeGentleman: hah, good point danthat
  432. (07:47:52 AM) Cheeseness: danthat: The computer mouse, or the mouse in the hole?
  433. (07:48:06 AM) Cheeseness: This kinda looks like the DoTT hallway too
  434. (07:48:21 AM) TimeGentleman: Yeh, grandfather clock - ref to DOTT
  435. (07:48:27 AM) danthat: I think it was a direct rip of DoTT
  436. (07:48:34 AM) TimeGentleman: as danthat said, plus loads of clocks = BTTF
  437. (07:48:50 AM) Cheeseness: danthat: I figured (haven't played DoTT in ages though)
  438. (07:48:54 AM) TimeGentleman: ours is like the MegaMonkey version of DOTT's puzzle!
  439. (07:49:10 AM) Mimness: Is a dinosaur going to come in and shoot them in the clocks?
  440. (07:49:11 AM) TimeGentleman: this is a clever puzzle, the equivalent of the candles in BTDT
  441. (07:49:16 AM) Viridian_: That took a while for me.
  442. (07:49:26 AM) Viridian_: Using the arrow as the clock handle.
  443. (07:49:29 AM) TimeGentleman: mimness WE do the bad puns around here
  444. (07:50:04 AM) TimeGentleman: fair puzzle in the end viridian_ ?
  445. (07:50:11 AM) Viridian_: Oh, yes.
  446. (07:50:17 AM) TimeGentleman: Use of cartoony logic with mouse in dress is also quite DOTTy/Looney Tunes-y
  447. (07:50:18 AM) Mimness: Well I was very disappointed in your first game. Ben picked up a hand and said "This could come in useful". How could you not have said "This could come in HANDY"
  448. (07:50:21 AM) TimeGentleman: good :)
  449. (07:50:22 AM) Viridian_: There's only one thing in this game that really, truly aggravated me.
  450. (07:50:23 AM) danthat: just push it syd
  451. (07:50:24 AM) Mimness: Mutiny.
  452. (07:50:40 AM) TimeGentleman: mimness we prob did that on purpose!
  453. (07:50:40 AM) johndrinkwater: eugh, mouse holes, the reason I was stuck in sam & max for months..
  454. (07:50:48 AM) johndrinkwater: who puts money in a hole?!
  455. (07:50:51 AM) Cheeseness: Ha, it doesn't end :D
  456. (07:50:59 AM) Mimness: TimeGentleman: So you say, so you say :)
  457. (07:51:08 AM) GameClubFan_854555 left the room (quit: Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client).
  458. (07:51:37 AM) danthat: Sunlight: pain in the arse
  459. (07:51:40 AM) Mimness: That mouse has stamina!
  460. (07:51:46 AM) Fireflower: :)
  461. (07:51:51 AM) TimeGentleman: i like how the cuckoo clock is a double puzzle
  462. (07:51:52 AM) danthat: I hate this room. So many things can go wrong!
  463. (07:51:55 AM) Viridian_: AAH! Natural light! Get it off me, get it off me!
  464. (07:52:02 AM) TimeGentleman: hah looks nice tho danthat
  465. (07:52:19 AM) TimeGentleman: If you look at the venetian blinds you get a bit about whether they existed in 1945
  466. (07:52:26 AM) danthat: My programming was really bad then too, so it's like a billion bools
  467. (07:52:37 AM) GameClubFan_854555 [c9bffe8f@hide-50D287EE.mibbit.com] entered the room.
  468. (07:52:37 AM) Cheeseness: heh
  469. (07:52:40 AM) Viridian_: Hee hee :)
  470. (07:52:48 AM) Viridian_: DOTT reference, and response.
  471. (07:52:53 AM) TimeGentleman: oh yeah danthat cos you can go and change the clocks back etc
  472. (07:53:12 AM) Viridian_: Dan: "What? I can know stuff!"
  473. (07:53:15 AM) TimeGentleman: thanks Syd!
  474. (07:53:19 AM) TimeGentleman: (AND WIKIPEDIA)
  475. (07:53:32 AM) Fireflower: do you even have double-glazing in Britain? :)
  476. (07:53:38 AM) Viridian_: So much awesome stuff happens in this room.
  477. (07:53:47 AM) danthat: I love that there's stuff like the chest there that you just can't do anything with till waaaaaay later. Feels like a proper PnC
  478. (07:53:52 AM) TimeGentleman: I have not seen Weekend At Bernies 2
  479. (07:54:15 AM) TimeGentleman: Why is the spanner pink/purple, Dan?
  480. (07:54:24 AM) TimeGentleman: I like it, feels videogamey
  481. (07:54:30 AM) Cheeseness: danthat: TimeGentleman was telling us earlier about how he's grown a goatee. With it so close to 2015, are you finding that you're becoming more like your future self?
  482. (07:54:36 AM) danthat: EITHER to make it stand out OR because of something something penis?
  483. (07:54:46 AM) danthat: Ha ha Cheeseness. Yes
  484. (07:54:58 AM) Viridian_: It's pink/purple to Raise Awareness.
  485. (07:55:00 AM) danthat: I look more like Future Dan these days :(
  486. (07:55:12 AM) danthat: PEnis
  487. (07:55:20 AM) Fireflower: Back to the future
  488. (07:55:24 AM) danthat: Got to have a spanner in a DnB game
  489. (07:55:38 AM) TimeGentleman: Also everyone must wear hats
  490. (07:55:44 AM) Cheeseness: Is that a robot roller skate up there?
  491. (07:55:46 AM) danthat: I love this brolly anim
  492. (07:55:48 AM) Mimness: Hats! I love hats!
  493. (07:55:51 AM) danthat: Do the brolly on the book
  494. (07:55:52 AM) danthat: syd
  495. (07:55:56 AM) danthat: Lovely anim
  496. (07:55:57 AM) TimeGentleman: If you replay the game, you don't need to get the book down. If you do that and then look at it later, it disappears before your eyes due to being a paradox!
  497. (07:56:00 AM) Cheeseness: Oh here we go. Mimness is talking like The Heavy again
  498. (07:56:13 AM) danthat: Ha ha TimeGentleman I'd forgotten that
  499. (07:56:14 AM) TimeGentleman: think syd is using a walkthru danthat
  500. (07:56:15 AM) danthat: Brilliant
  501. (07:56:17 AM) Viridian_: Oh, nice.
  502. (07:56:19 AM) Fireflower: Hats should be compulsory in every game :)
  503. (07:56:25 AM) danthat: CHEAT syd
  504. (07:56:30 AM) danthat: Do it from memory
  505. (07:56:49 AM) Fireflower: always need a walkthrough in a stream :)
  506. (07:56:53 AM) Cheeseness: I'm sure that syd is only using the walkthrough as an aid to memory
  507. (07:56:57 AM) Cheeseness: Syd is pretty awesome <3
  508. (07:57:05 AM) TimeGentleman: <3 Syd
  509. (07:57:10 AM) Mimness: And awesomely pretty.
  510. (07:57:17 AM) TimeGentleman: this book a loving homage to FoA by Dan
  511. (07:57:19 AM) danthat: TRUE STORY: when playtesting TGP at the end, I got playtime from start to finish, skipping all cutscenes and dialogue and just doing the puzzles down to an hour and a half. So the game is minimum that long
  512. (07:57:22 AM) TimeGentleman: text by me!
  513. (07:57:37 AM) TimeGentleman: William Theodore = Bill and Ted, Shelley = ref to Mary Shelley
  514. (07:57:40 AM) Viridian_: FoA?
  515. (07:57:47 AM) danthat: Yeah, the book and background and paperclips etc are FoA
  516. (07:57:49 AM) TimeGentleman: PAL - reference to George Pal, director of The Time Machine (60s version, obv), plus serendipitously reminiscent of HAL from 2001.
  517. (07:57:50 AM) Cheeseness: Too fast, Syd
  518. (07:57:53 AM) TimeGentleman: Fat Of Atlantis
  519. (07:57:59 AM) Viridian_: Oh, right.
  520. (07:58:07 AM) TimeGentleman: Fate lol
  521. (07:58:13 AM) Mimness: You'll just have to play the game yourself Cheeseness
  522. (07:58:15 AM) Syd: I know, I'll look at it again when it's important
  523. (07:58:27 AM) TimeGentleman: we put this dialogue in in case the player skipped the plot stuff!
  524. (07:58:27 AM) danthat: Hah, this is sum up for TLDR people :)
  525. (07:58:35 AM) Viridian_: Fat of Atlantis, wasn't that an album by The Prodigy?
  526. (07:58:43 AM) Cheeseness: I want to play Fat Of Atlantis (where Indy has to follow up on the ancient atlantean mystery of dieting)
  527. (07:59:07 AM) TimeGentleman: We got good feedback for including a quicktravel map. i think you lose a certain something when you don't have to trek back and forth but the pros deffo outweigh that.
  528. (07:59:28 AM) Viridian_: Yeah, I'm definitely going to have to go in favor of the fast travel map.
  529. (07:59:35 AM) Mimness: Do racehorses piss more than regular horses?
  530. (07:59:50 AM) TimeGentleman: mimness we wouldn't know...
  531. (07:59:57 AM) Cheeseness: Sure sure

  533. (08:00:01 AM) Viridian_: Lion's Roar Real Ale - BTDT.
  534. (08:00:04 AM) danthat: Yeah, someone should mention that to Tim for Red. People really appreciated the no-bullshit travel in this game...
  535. (08:00:16 AM) TimeGentleman: YOU should, danthat!
  536. (08:00:26 AM) danthat: Oh what like we're friends
  537. (08:00:28 AM) Fireflower: Racehorses probly drinks more :)
  538. (08:00:39 AM) TimeGentleman: this is scientifically accurate
  539. (08:00:45 AM) Mimness: Fireflower: I like your logic.
  540. (08:00:48 AM) danthat: Scientifically this is fine
  541. (08:00:52 AM) TimeGentleman: (the manet bollocks)

  544. (08:01:42 AM) Mimness: Ooh cold effect!
  545. (08:01:44 AM) TimeGentleman: it was a complete fluke that we needed something magnetic for a puzzle and realised the tape we already had was magnetic!
  546. (08:01:48 AM) Fireflower: where's Hitler?
  547. (08:01:50 AM) derm: ooohhh smoke
  548. (08:02:15 AM) swordfischer: hehhe
  549. (08:02:21 AM) TimeGentleman: oh man, there's a hotspot for the small cog?!
  550. (08:02:22 AM) swordfischer: talking about cog sizes :P
  551. (08:02:26 AM) danthat: I *still* get emails to this day from people telling me they've found a bug because they didn't get that magnet and got stuck in the warehouse later. I put it in as a old school LucasArts thing, that feeling of "oh no it's broken" and it worked too well.
  552. (08:02:28 AM) Mimness: BWA HA HA! Even the dinosaurs have awesome walks.
  553. (08:02:32 AM) Cheeseness: Is present Eckles still alive?
  554. (08:02:48 AM) TimeGentleman: no cheeseness :(
  555. (08:02:51 AM) danthat: Another excellent brolly anim coming up

  570. (08:04:32 AM) TimeGentleman: we saved it for the sequel mimness!
  571. (08:04:33 AM) Cheeseness: I love science dino ;_;
  572. (08:04:56 AM) Mimness: TimeGentleman: danthat: My faith in you is restored. Lovebeams.
  573. (08:04:59 AM) TimeGentleman: Fixing a broken down car by replacing the fan belt with some tights is something kids these days don't ever have to do, probably.

  578. (08:05:48 AM) danthat: Someone get J2ke and get him to GAZE IN WONDER at the LOVELY FULL INVENTORY.
  579. (08:05:49 AM) Viridian_: All right, be back later. I have to run to the store RIGHT NOW, according to the rest of my family.

  693. (08:14:01 AM) Cheeseness: (a rephrasing of The_Patient's question)
  694. (08:14:05 AM) Syd_desktop: Yeah, probably could have kept going for 20-30 more minutes. I'll try to make sure next week's session is extra long to make up for it
  695. (08:14:12 AM) TimeGentleman: cheeseness not that I know of. that kind of thing is always down to demand
  696. (08:14:19 AM) The_Patient: release it on vinyl

  719. (08:17:24 AM) TimeGentleman: The_Patient what is "tape"
  720. (08:17:25 AM) Syd_desktop: 8-track tape would be the best format for a soundtrack
  721. (08:17:29 AM) Cheeseness: TimeGentleman: Why aren't there more Firefly references in BnD games?
  722. (08:17:34 AM) The_Patient: that stuff you use when you paint your windows
