- /a/ and /v/
- Apr 18 21:59:35 <Kusanagi> When people come to /a/ and they post like they are on /v/ /a/ is gonna destroy them. A lot of times we sadly get really low quality threads from people coming from /v/ about stuff like SnK and SAO and such, SAO threads are the worst honestly. on top of this you got people posting about anime on /v/ which is pissing people on /v/ off and making them want to raid /a/, and it happens from time to time.
- Apr 18 22:00:05 <BearKnife> not disagreeing there
- Apr 18 22:00:12 <Kusanagi> Some people get off on making people fight each other
- Apr 18 22:01:23 <BearKnife> at the same time, the fact that it's even possible to "post like they are on /v/" shows that there is a distinct culture built up with the board and thus it can feel weird to post on other boards.
- Apr 18 22:01:32 <Kusanagi> The people posting about anime on /v/ are the type of people /a/ hates the most, they have bad taste in anime and low powerlevels which is why they post in /v/ cause they know they will be mocked in /a/.
- Apr 18 22:02:05 <BearKnife> and the end result is /v/ sees that fucker as how everyone on /a/ is and goes to start shit with them
- Apr 18 22:02:13 <Kusanagi> yep
- Apr 18 22:02:14 <ditv-toy> To be fair, /a/'s barely above /v/. Mind, saying this as a /co/mrade, too.
- Apr 18 22:02:38 <BearKnife> /a/ is honestly below /v/ simply because it pretends to be above everyone
- Apr 18 22:02:46 <Troid> ehhh
- Apr 18 22:02:47 <BearKnife> /v/ at least knows it's shi
- Apr 18 22:02:49 <Kusanagi> ehhh
- Apr 18 22:02:54 <monglo> kek
- Apr 18 22:03:06 <BOOF> http://i.4cdn.org/o/src/1397870782689.webm : typical japanese man going to work
- Apr 18 22:03:20 <Kusanagi> I disagree strongly but you're entitled to your opinion
- Apr 18 22:03:24 <Troid> I don't even like /a/ but calling it worse than /v/ is a stretch
- Apr 18 22:03:33 <BearKnife> I'm not saying it's significantly worse
- Apr 18 22:03:34 <ditv-toy> @Troid @Kusanagi ehhh-mind
- Apr 18 22:03:49 <BearKnife> I'd just put it slightly below and solely because of that haughty mindset
- Apr 18 22:03:51 <monglo> what are those
- Apr 18 22:03:53 <monglo> chasers?
- Apr 18 22:04:21 * Antarcticanon has quit (Ping timeout: 240 seconds)
- Apr 18 22:04:22 <Troid> they both have problem threads and shit off-topic arguments, but /v/'s are part of the culture while /a/'s are more out of place
- Apr 18 22:04:27 <Kusanagi> For me /a/ is very on topic, /v/ on the other hand has many threads about people in the industry and youtube e-celebs which I think they could do without.
- Apr 18 22:04:28 <Troid> even though they're not highly irregular
- Apr 18 22:04:45 <Kusanagi> Many of those types of threads end up about people's views
- Apr 18 22:04:48 <Kusanagi> Rather than about games
- Apr 18 22:04:57 <BearKnife> I definitely agree
- Apr 18 22:04:57 <Kusanagi> And I mean like that have to do with feminism and stuff
- Apr 18 22:04:58 <ditv-toy> Troid: didn't /a/ used to be a lot more off-topic?
- Apr 18 22:05:03 <monglo> youtube e celebs
- Apr 18 22:05:03 <Kusanagi> That kind of stuff is really toxic
- Apr 18 22:05:04 <monglo> fuck
- Apr 18 22:05:11 <monglo> TV is full of those
- Apr 18 22:05:12 <BearKnife> Hell, I delete ecelebs on sight
- Apr 18 22:05:14 <Troid> /a/ hasn't been steadily building shit threads like feminism and e-celebs into itself for years
- Apr 18 22:05:23 <Troid> /v/ has kind of absorbed them at this point
- Apr 18 22:05:28 <HeavyGear> Kus, would you suggest creating a "Video Games and Video Games Business" board?
- Apr 18 22:05:39 <Kusanagi> No
- Apr 18 22:05:41 <Troid> they're off-topic and/or shitty but you practically expect to see them anyway
- Apr 18 22:05:53 <BearKnife> /v/ doesn't need to split again
- Apr 18 22:05:53 <ditv-toy> HeavyGear: If we keep splitting /v/, eventually it *WILL* become /b/ 2.0 by definition.
- Apr 18 22:05:58 <BearKnife> they just need to stop being shitheads
- Apr 18 22:06:00 <Kusanagi> But I would suggest /v/ focus on video games rather than what people's views are who make them on things aside from games
- Apr 18 22:06:13 <Troid> "it has the simplest fucking rules: talk about video games"
- Apr 18 22:06:13 <HeavyGear> Great. But, where would people discuss game dev and game celebs?
- Apr 18 22:06:22 <Troid> game dev is fine on /v/, though?
- Apr 18 22:06:24 <monglo> should I do the same thing on /tv/ with red letter media and the other reviewer guy?
- Apr 18 22:06:35 <Troid> and they can discuss game celebs on some other site
- Apr 18 22:06:38 <monglo> fuckin 5-10 threads about that shit at any given ime
- Apr 18 22:06:49 <ditv-toy> monglo: As a film guy, RLM is awesome.
- Apr 18 22:07:15 <Kusanagi> The difference between /a/ and /v/ is that /a/ hates off topic stuff even if it's related to anime while /v/ wants to read all those stories that are related to video games but not about them
- Apr 18 22:07:19 <monglo> my only response is: I bet you like the films of wes anderson
- Apr 18 22:07:21 <BearKnife> The thing is, game dev/eceleb stuff devolves more into discussing the person and their lives rather than their views on the industry, their effect on the industry, etc.
- Apr 18 22:07:28 <Troid> >/a/ hates off topic stuff even if it's related to anime
- Apr 18 22:07:30 <Troid> well...
- Apr 18 22:07:37 <Kusanagi> like this Troid
- Apr 18 22:07:41 <Kusanagi> >I got on the bus
- Apr 18 22:07:46 <Kusanagi> >There was this kid with an anime shirt
- Apr 18 22:07:48 <Troid> unless it's a trap thread homo thread tits thread or loli thread
- Apr 18 22:07:49 <Kusanagi> blah blah
- Apr 18 22:07:55 <Kusanagi> /a/ hates that shit
