- >We walk out into the cold and start heading towards my car
- >Ugly red sedan, but the price was right (free)
- >I go over to the passenger side, telling Lily to give me a minute
- >Lower the passenger seat, take the bench seats down and help guide Lily into the car
- >She looks uncomfortable, I can tell from her face
- >"You ok?" She looks up at me "Yes anon, can we hurry though? It's really tight and I can barely fit."
- >There was a time I would have made a joke after that statement.
- >Hop into driver seat, thankfully home is close by.
- >Thank God its five in the morning, my neighbors are still asleep
- >I help her up the stairs to the second floor where I live. Taking her inside, I show her to the couch.
- >The apartment is fairly large, two bedroom, but its cheap due to the area its located in.
- >"Sorry it's a little cold. Let me turn on the heater."
- >Little quartz/infrared heater, makes it tolerable for me, but it wont be enough for a Lamia
- >I head to the closet where I keep extra blankets and assorted items
- >"This heater should help, but for you darlin....."
- >I haul out a giant ceramic heater.
- >Her eyes light up, looks like a kid who was handed the keys to the kingdom.
- >Setting it down in front of her, I plug the big bad mother in, cranking it up to full blast.
- >Holy hell i forgot how hot that was.
- >Instantly her face melts, closing her eyes and giggling as a wave of heat washes over her.
- >Power bills going to suck this month. Good thing I've got plenty of money from my side job.
- >I sit down next to her. I idly start picking twigs and leaves out of her hair.
- >No idea why she didn't do this herself.
- >"Anon." She looks into my eyes and begins to speak
- >"Thank you again for taking me in. I'll help out around here by cooking and cleaning."
- >Fiery determination dances in those bewitching eyes of hers.
- >I smile. "Before that, let me show you around. Then, you need to get cleaned up. After that, let's discuss
- how to deal with your flaking skin."
- >The fire fades, but still smolders. She nods, then stands up to follow me.
- >"Alright, right now we're in the living room. Big enough for you to move around in I suppose, just be careful. She nods.
- >I take her down the hallway, "The bedroom on the right here is where you'll stay. The one at the end of the hall on the
- left is mine. The bathroom is across from it."
- >I continue my tour guide routine, "You should fit in the tub, the shower head is detachable thankfully."
- >We finish off by passing through the kitchen back into the living room.
- >I lean against the table located on the opposite side of the room from the couch.
- >"Well Lily, this is where I call home. I'm low on food, but I should have enough for a simple breakfast...what are you staring at?"
- >Her eyes are wide as she points, mouth agape, at my table.
- >She's starting at the loaded .45 laying there, as well as the waterpipe and plastic shoebox filled with weed.
- >Forgot about that
- >Looks like I just picked whole a bouquet of oopsie-dasies.
- >"A-anon, that's so dangerous! And why do you have all of that, isn't that stuff illegal under human laws?"
- >Sounds like she may become hysterical
- >"Lily, It's what I do on the side. I am not a good person Lily, I never claimed to be. But while your here I will
- look after you and protect you. Now, go get cleaned up. I'll put this away and make us something to eat.
- >She looks concerned, sad and lost. It seems she wants to say something, but she stops herself and slithers towards the bathroom.
- >I put it all away, then go to the kitchen to take stock of the food situation.
- >Looks like I have some eggs, bacon and biscuits. Butter and jelly too.
- >I begin to cook, all the while thinking of that morose look she was sporting.
- >Thinking about how much that look hurt me.
- >What am I going to do?
