- +++ Shobu has given op to MIAR
- <MIAR>: first time used the ghost command
- <Crias>: SK, that's a very interesting idea, the way you phrase it
- <Crias>: in a way, the net can become a dreamscape, and you can liberate yourself with it the way a dreamer who realizes he's dreaming can liberate himself from all rules of the real world
- <Crias>: the comparison fails in one very crucial way though. impact.
- <Crias>: in a dream, I can cross any boundary I want. there's no such thing as morality because there is no -true- action, only thought perceived, experienced, and then lost
- <Crias>: but on the net, those thoughts and words can permeate into real world actions, morality has to play a part because real people are affected
- <Crias>: the freedom that would be the key motivation for going into a dreamscape doesn't exist online
- +++ Shobu has given voice to Deckout
- <Crias>: such a good ending that one, I'd forgotten just how well they introduced the uncertainty
- <SuperSoulKaiser>: This is true
- <SuperSoulKaiser>: But
- <SuperSoulKaiser>: Yoiu know th ephrase
- <SuperSoulKaiser>: In Strange aeons even death may day
- <SuperSoulKaiser>: When limits break, they merely reform into new boundaries of our mindscape
- <SuperSoulKaiser>: The globalzation of humanty hasnt made the fasle myth of the omnitribe true
- <SuperSoulKaiser>: But rather
- <SuperSoulKaiser>: The infitization of the microtribe
- <SuperSoulKaiser>: The morals and alms of our humanity have become replaced with a new do it yoursefl relaty
- <SuperSoulKaiser>: Where we tear down teh facsaees of our social sleves tol ecist within the new realm hunter/gatherer dymaxia
- <Crias>: I've never heard that before. source?
- <Crias>: It's true that in breaking a limit, you create a new boundary. The box is expanded, the status quo absorbs new aspects, and often the world becomes more colorful.
- <Crias>: Stories to tell, lessons learned.
- <Crias>: Still, the other aspect exists as well. Feelings hurt, costs paid, regrets born... not gauranteed of course, but a risk nevertheless.
- <SuperSoulKaiser>: TRue, we are not truly nti-establishment, but counter establishment.
- <SuperSoulKaiser>: And as the horror stories tell, we often re rvert
- <Crias>: Eventually there is a boundary I believe none should cross, the one between the person you are and the person you never want to be.
- <SuperSoulKaiser>: I wonder, if the dreams of the lost men become the realms of today
- <SuperSoulKaiser>: Are our dreams, then to, destined to yield the new prispns of our seed?
- <Crias>: Ah but dreams in that sense would largely refer to aspirations.
- <Crias>: A very interesting topic, and many of the same rules apply of course. By challenging aspirations, achieving or abandoning, we expand ourself but also create a world in which our children will live.
- <Crias>: A world that will shape their own aspirations.
- <Crias>: Still, in the case of the dreams of subconscious expression, I see no realistic way one's dreams could affect another person nevermind future people who are not yet born.
- <Crias>: That's the draw, that in dream one can cross every boundary because no cost is real or permanent.
- <Crias>: In fact, they normally don't exist. Only in a lucid dream can you choose to cross over from the man you are to the man you never want to be, to experience what it means to be him without paying the costs, but the lessons are learned from the costs and would as such be lost to you.
- <Crias>: It's also possible while awake to enter into your own mind and experiment with imagination, try to learn the same lessons, but again the absence of cost nullifies any -real- lesson.
- <Crias>: On the internet it becomes more real. By interacting with others, talking and thinking down these paths, you lose some control. Decisions start to have meaning, even if that meaning is small, because this other real human being has now experienced you making the choice.
- <Crias>: The danger lies when you choose to take those choices to the "real world", or when the choices decide to bring themselves.
- <Crias>: Now words with which you expressed the tabboo have real meaningful affects on you and the people around you. Lessons can be learned, and your understanding can be expanded... but the costs are real too. The hurt and regret can now become real. But then, that's the only reason you could learn isn't it? Without the risk, there can be no reward.
- <Crias>: Irregardless, for all my criticism of you SK you have shown your value. Not often I get to entertain the whims of my mind and wax philisophical, even if it borders on the nonsensical.
- <Crias>: It's time for me to go enjoy that type of dreaming that removes all boundaries, g'night.
