[Updated 2/20/2015] By posting on /econ/, you agree that you will follow the rules for the board. If you do not follow the rules, your thread will be saged, locked, or deleted and you may even be banned based on the severity of your posts. Sec 1. What is /econ/ about? /econ/ is a board centered around the discussion of economics. It is for people who want to discuss news about economics, economic policies (minimum wage, regulations, etc), economic schools of thought (neoclassical, Keynesian, Austrian, etc), and anything else related to economics. /econ/ was made with the intent of having higher quality discussions and posts than other boards. Sec 2. /econ/ rules Any threads that broke the rules before these new rules were created shall not be affected in any way. Rule 1. - If you post a link or video, and your thread is about the discussion of said link of video then you must put a short description of what the link or video is about. Do not just post a link to some study and then write, "What are your thoughts /econ/?" or anything else in the same vein. Do not make posts about discussing news without linking to said news. Rule 2. - Post threads related to economics. Any posts that relating to board banners, CSS, or flags should go in the Meta thread. Economics is, as stated by Investopedia, "a social science that studies how individuals, governments, firms and nations make choices on allocating scarce resources to satisfy their unlimited wants. Economics can generally be broken down into: macroeconomics, which concentrates on the behavior of the aggregate economy; and microeconomics, which focuses on individual consumers." Make sure your threads fit this definition. Do not blog about any specific product of a company, unless it relates to how it will affect the economy in some way. Rule 3. - Do not Spam topics. If I see a post about a certain topic or news item being posted repeatedly, I won't hesitate to delete it. Make sure you wait a day or two to post about a certain topic if it's already in the catalog. As long as you have some way of differentiating your thread from a thread with a similar topic you should (usually) be fine. Rule 4. - I realize that we all shitpost and so I will not delete any shitposting as long is it makes me laugh or it does not become too excessive. Anything that constitutes as excessive shitposting will be shown on the main sticky. Guidelines These are rules you should follow, but will not be punished for breaking as it will be too hard or impossible to enforce. If you follow these guidelines, you are more likely to create a high quality post and improve the quality of the post. Guideline 1 - Please back up any claims you make with evidence. Nothing fancy is required, just make sure you put a link to your source. Guideline 2 - Please keep your posts in threads related to said thread. Guideline 3 - Please do not be dismissive or rude to people who have different opinions then yours. Just because their opinion is different than yours or general board consensus, doesn't mean they're a troll. Guideline 4- Please read the thread before you post. Anything you were about to post may have already been posted in the thread. It is annoying when certain questions or concerns have been answered in the thread and someone posts the exact same question or complaint on hundred posts later. Guideline 5 - Browse the catalog before posting and make sure to hide bait threads and comments.
