Unmastered Sequence (album) Unmastered Sequence is a promotional CD for Eminems second album "The Slim Shady LP". Release The exact origin of this CD is unknown. But there are some possibilities of its use: It was sent out to Dr. Dre to let him hear what the songs sounded like to that point. It was sent to employees of the label, because they wanted to hear how far Eminem has come to that time. It was sent out to some people of the media. It is not unusual to send out unmastered promotional CDs. Or maybe it was the CD that was meant to be sent to mastering, but they decided to change some bits before letting is be finally mastered. Nothing of this is confirmed or officially known. Those are just some possibilities. Right now there are only 2 known copies in existence. Content As you can guess from the name, the CD includes unmastered songs. Beside 12 songs from the album it also includes four songs, that did not make it on the record. Those are "Low Down, Dirty", "No One's Iller", "Take The World With Me" and "Murder, Murder." Tracklist # Track Length 01 My Name Is 04:31 02 My Conscience feat. Completely different than later on the album. Maybe the real order wasn't decided back when this CD was sent out. Second thing: song names. Some songs have slightly different names, like "When Bad Meets Evil" or "My Conscience". "Just The Two Of Us" was still not renamed to "'97 Bonnie & Clyde". At last all songs have a more raw sound to them, which indicates them being unmastered and not polished up for release. My Name Is The biggest difference in the song is, that the line "My English teacher wanted to flunk me in junior high. Thanks a lot, next semester I'll be 35" does not exist in that way. The promotional CD includes the line "My English teacher wanted to have sex in junior high. The only problem was, my English teacher was a guy". Since that version is also available with the sound and quality of the album: the unmastered version has no overdubs during the chorus. My Conscience Beside the name the beat has an extremely raw sound during the second verse. It has a lot more distortion sounds to it than in the rest of the song. I'm Shady / Brain Damage Both songs are put together. The last word of "I'm Shady" is going in to "Brain Damage". When Bad Meets Evil Once more: the name is slightly different. The album version misses the "When" in the name. Also this version is about 20 seconds short, which comes from the missing intro of the man telling the story. Just The Two Of Us Also here is the name different. The song was later renamed to "'97 Bonnie & Clyde" for the album. "Just The Two Of Us" is still the name from the EP in 1997. This song is also about 40 seconds short. It misses the full skit at the beginning. All you can hear is chirping. As The World Turns The album version starts with a guitar-sounding melody. On this CD it starts with drums and the melody comes in during the first chorus, but not played by a guitar, just by a synthesizer. Low Down, Dirty This is a rerecording from the SSEP. Eminem raps with a much higher voice in this version. Also the beginning contains DJ scratches which repeat about five seconds, then the beat comes in. The intro of the song was already used in the version of the promotional tape for the SSEP. So maybe this is an older version because of plans to rerecord it, or it is a rerecording with older effects. No One's Iller The intro beat is completely different. While the EP version has that click sound at the beginning, the unmastered version directly kicks in with the main beat and Bizarre talking over it. Take The World With Me While the EP version starts again with a Bizarre intro, this version starts with Eminem talking. Also this version is about 50 seconds longer than the EP version. Murder, Murder This time about 20 seconds longer than on SSEP.
