For this prompt, I will be asking of you to write for me a well-research, thought-out essay. I've decided that I will accept both MLA (ugh) and Chicago style formats. The paper must be between five (5) and fifty (50) pages. In writing a paper for this prompt, there will be obvious in-game implications for doing so. In order to try and ensure that I do not simply get essays that you have plagiarised from previous classes, I have supplied several topics below that I have taken from final exams that I have given in the past. In order to be considered an entrant in this, you must also have at least five (5) cited sources to back up your argument (WIKIPEDIA IS NOT A SOURCE). There is no obligation to enter this contest except the rewards. The best paper shall receive four (4) turns of automatic 10s on all of their orders. The second best paper shall receive two (2) turns of automatic 10s on all of their orders. The third best paper shall receive one (1) turn of automatic 10s on all of their orders. Anyone who enters a paper will get an automatic +3 on their lowest order in addition to +1 to all rolls. Listed below are three possible topics for the papers that you may submit. My interpretation of this is broad, and am willing to accept a well-researched topic in these areas. Please read the writing guide by Patrick Rael in the Bowdoin College writing guide that I have supplied if you are unsure of what to do (mostly aimed at non-College level participants). Keep in mind that you are trying to inform and persuade the reader towards the argument you are making in any of these areas. Any problems with them, and you can ask me to clarify for you, and I would be happy to help with specific topics for papers. Papers are due on January 31st, 2015.
