Gambler (lilin?) - Shoot for the stars! - At day time, picks a person to go to a meeting with them at night - At night time, gambler and the chosen person will play rock-paper-scissors - The one who loses will die - Town-sided Gambler (revision) - Each day, picks a player to gamble at night - Both players will pick rock, paper, or scissors in separate meetings - The loser dies the next day unless there is a tie - Wins after 2 successful gambits - Third party This is a pretty novel mechanic while still simple and familiar, and the the role itself fits into the theme of the game pretty well. Sidekick (nillager) - Only wins if alive when another third party wins. - Meets with other third party(s) at night. - Once per game can choose one third party to protect from death or conversion during the night and day. Revision: if visited by a third party, reveals their role* * This wouldn't work on clockmaker, but you need to stop clockmaker from winning n1 on 3rd kills anyway, it's already a huge problem The other revision I would make is removing the protection mechanic, which makes it too much like a knock-off angel. Instead, its ability is meeting with other thirds, which is a much more interesting idea. This role would fit comfortably into unranked setups, especially the conventional 7-3-2 sandbox setup where there are always two thirds. Monkey (croned) - Each night, chooses one person for their "Monkey See" meeting and one person for their "Monkey Do" meeting. - Mimics the actions of the person in "Monkey See," performs those action on the person in the "Monkey Do" meeting. - Sided with the village. Small revision: roleblocks the "Monkey See" target. A novel and incredibly useful role, while not a stretch from current mechanics. It could take over any town role that may have been outed (even make a doctor save himself) or misdirect mafia and third parties. The possibilities are limitless and all fun. Butterfly (deleted?) - Can once at night, choose a day to revert everyone's items to the state they were at (if bulletproof lost vest N2, and butterfly chooses D1, then bulletproof would get their vest back) - Sided with the village Butterfly (revision) - Can restore everyone to their original roles once per game, along with that role's original items - Sided with village A simple role with a lot of potential, could make conversion games incredibly interesting while also acting as a one-time blacksmith for bulletproof and ammunition for gun roles (including sniper and illusionist). Again, simple, but much potential. Also a nod to the butterfly effect. Handy Man (babacakes) - Town-Sided - When given a fabricated or tampered item will swap it to operate in a town-sided fashion. - When given cult robes will swap to mason robes. - Fabbed items will no longer be fabbed. - Associate's gun will kill mafia. - Bombs and dolls will be de-fused/destroyed. Handy Man (revision) - Fixes sabotaged guns (sab/fab/asso) - 50% chance to defuse bombs before they explode - When culted, becomes a villager instead (can be culted again) The original suggestion was kind of ridiculous, but the idea of a multi-purpose role with a name like Handy Man seemed to have potential, so after some revising it becomes a balanced, /handy/ role. It also compliments anarchist and tampering roles very nicely I find. Gun Revealer (soluciones) - Picks a player at night. - If this player has/receives a gun and he and shoots, it will show his name. - Deputy gun will reveal, Illusionist will reveal himself... - Sided with the village. Revealer (revision) - Picks a player at night - Any gun shot by that person reveals their name - If that person gives items, their name will be revealed to their recipient The original role isn't all that useful, but the idea of "revealing" actions is. The first mechanic can be useful for obvious reasons while the latter can be used to expose fabricators, associates, and even important town roles if a player isn't careful. The Postman (wikiipedia) - Sends someone a package each night, which will contain a random item from the available (gun, crystal ball, key, bread, vest) - Packages take 2 work days to deliver - Sided with third party - Wins if successfully delivers 2 packages Postman (revision) - Ships a package containing a random item to a player each night - Packages are delivered one day later - Sided with village Another good thematic choice with another familiar yet novel mechanic: delayed delivery. This role just fits, in my opinion. It's not too extraordinary, but still different and neat. Duelist (papajacky) - town - once a game can challenge someone to a duel during the night-time - the next day, a gun will be given to both players - the guns can shoot anyone but will not hit anyone other than the duelist and the challenged party Duelist (revision) - Each day challenges a player to a duel at sunset - They will both receive a gun and learn eachother's name at night - The guns will be anonymous and miss anyone except the participants - The loser's will won't be revealed - Wins after 3 victories - Sided with third party This, on the other hand, is a more exotic role, and looks fun as hell in unranked. We used to play a 4 player setup early in the mornings in sandbox consisting of 3 sheriffs and 1 sniper; one of the sheriffs would take a shot, and if he misses, sniper has to snipe the other sheriff before the other sheriff shoots sniper. It was ridiculously fun, and that's what I think this role could be as well. It's not a good role for ranked, but for unranked gotta have it. Widow (sigh) - Sided with the mafia - If lynched, the mafia can kill twice the next night (they get another meeting) Widow (revision) - If lynched, the mafia's next kill can't miss - Sided with the mafia The idea of a mafia-sided virgin sounds pretty cool, although giving mafia two kills is a bit much. I think the revised version would be an interesting addition to ranked, making widow a sacrificial mafia role similar to paparazzi. It isn't useful all of the time, but you can't just have every role be a powerhouse, can you? Donor (logan) - Can donate any items they receive to a player - Donor can donate one item during the night, and one item during the day - When the donor dies, all items that remain with him are randomly given out to the village - Sided with the village Philanthropist (revision) - Has one meeting for each held item at night - May give that item to anyone else or keep it - Sided with the village The name sounded a bit awkward (makes you think blood or organ donor), but it's a cool concept. If it received a vest from a dead santa or blacksmith, it could give it to an unprotected town pr. Same with guns. More interestingly, though, it could give mafia back their fabbed or sabotaged gun and fool them into shooting it. Imagine how hilarious that would be. It has many applications but isn't overpowered.
