What is Beyond Orbit??


Beyond Orbit is an open world space sandbox / sim with both linear and non linear components.
Take part in an epic campaign, fighting for the race of your choice, being rewarded along the way, or choose to take the universe your own way, perhaps by building a fleet and taking to bandits, or humbly making a credit here a credit there as a traveling merchant. Or you can just take it all as it comes, opting in to a variety of randomly generated tasks and side missions.

If the solo approach bores you, and you want for more combat, enlist in your races fleet, and jump right in to the action! Drop out of the action and halt the story in an idle but still on going state if you so choose to.

Create your pilot and ship, selecting from a variety of races and builds, and outfit your ship to your liking! Incredibly well armed and defended sacrificing your speed? Done! Perhaps a quick lightly armed interceptor? Done! Your choices are limited only by your imagination*!
*And the credits you posses.





When will it be released?


Beyond Orbit is currently under heavy development. At the moment, there is no set release date, and we plan to take an 'always updating' approach, continuously adding features and battling any bugs we can find. We really want you all to be a part of this process, helping us to make the game that is as close to perfect for you as it can get! The development model will be very similar to Minecraft, where snapshots may often be made available, as well as full 'proper' likely to be every other month.
In the meantime, we are working on this as often as time permits, and are keeping up with various social media platforms for interaction between us the developers, and you the consumer. We're also running a development blog, providing full updates at the end of every two weeks. For links, see the end of this post.

Where can I find more?


IndieDB is our main outlet for screenshots, news, information, and details about the project.
Other than IndieDB, we also are running a Facebook, Youtube, and Twitter page. 

We’re using Facebook as a means of interacting with those interested in the project, by showing images, polling questions, asking for general feedback, and answering any questions or responding to feedback you may give us. We also re-post all of our events (news articles, new videos, updates, etc) via facebook, so you can quickly and easily find things all in one place.

Youtube is being used as a place to host development log video updates. These updates will provide a video example of the project at the time of filming. Current videos are short and do not contain much information, but in future videos will follow of a greater lenght, depth, detail, and may contain commentary. We are currently planning some videos showcasing our development pipeline, so you can see how we are developing this and the tools that we are using.

Twitter provides us with the ability to bring you short, sharp and shiny updates or other advancements and discussion points, as well as re-posting links of new news articles and videos that surface.  This will basically bring you anything that can typically be fit in to 140 characters or less.
