bypass_youtube_login bot FAQ ================================= Q. How does this work? A. I post a link that serves, through Google's servers (to clarify, nothing goes through a different entity besides Google/Youtube), a page that contains the video embedded in it. Youtube videos that are marked as 'racy' need logging into, but you do not need to login to watch embedded videos (as long as the video itself hasn't disabled embedding or marked as private). So far, I have not found a way to make this work for mobiles; sorry about the inconvenience! --------------------------------- Q. You commented on a video that does not require a log in. A. This is because you are logged into YouTube/Google services, and thus do not need to log in again. Try opening the link in an incognito/private browsing session (or just log out). --------------------------------- Q. Why do this? A. I wanted to provide a convenience for those who do not want to log into YouTube to watch restricted videos. There are services like nsfwyoutube.com, but those are on private servers and may or may not have 100% uptime. --------------------------------- Q. But you can just expand the embedded video to watch! A. This is true, but I prefer to open videos in new tabs. Sure this is a simple bot, but it was mainly a way to test the waters of the Reddit API and provide a very simple service. --------------------------------- Q. How do I do this if you're not here? A. Instead of -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=(string), use -- http://youtube.googleapis.com/v/(string) --------------------------------- Other questions and suggestions can be asked by sending me a message: http://www.reddit.com/message/compose/?to=bypass_youtube_login Fun info: subs I've been banned from: /r/wtf /r/cringe
