When you signed up for Carbonite, you elected to manage your own encryption key. In order to install Carbonite on this computer, please load your key now.
(Note that this may be different from your Carbonite account password.)
By keeping this default option, you’ll be able to recover files using just your username and password.
If you choose to manage your own encryption key, you take responsibility for securing and maintaining a copy of your key. There will be no way to recover stored files if your key is lost or misplaced.
When you choose to manage your own encryption key, you will be unable to use Anytime, Anywhere Access and Courier Recovery. Learn more
You will need to first save your encryption key file to your computer to continue. Please note:

It is recommended you keep at least two copies of your encryption key file in secure locations away from your computer (i.e. another computer, external hard drive or flash drive in a safe deposit box).
If you no longer wish to manage your own encryption key, you can have Carbonite manage your key for you.
Carbonite encrypts your files so that no one can access them but you.
Carbonite strongly recommends that you allow us to manage your encryption key for you.
Your files are encrypted twice for maximum security:
Your first backup could take 1-2 days or longer, depending on your Internet connection and amount of data. To speed up your first backup, leave your computer on and connected to the Internet.
