  1. I’m Kevin and I’m a minor-attracted person.
  2.
  3. An argument I’ve seen a lot against MAP-Minor relationships are that children aren’t able to consent. In this video I’ll address in detail why that’s not actually true and why it’s common to think that.
  4.
  5. First and foremost, the so called “Age of consent” is completely arbitrary. In all existent countries they range from 12 to 20 years old. It’s a wrong notion to think things are this well-defined, where after a certain age people automatically gain the understanding of what sex is and its implications. There are multiple variables in effect other than the age of the child, the most important ones being maturity and cultural background. In fact in a big part of history the notion of age of consent didn’t exist, and from a biological perspective it also doesn’t make a lot of sense.

  7. The notion that children are not able to think for themselves and are instead pure and innocent, not being able to grasp certain concepts viewed as adult subjects, and therefore not being able to consent is not at all true. The reason why that notion is so common is because at a young age those subjects are completely avoided by the children’s role models, mainly because sex is still viewed as a taboo in our society, heritage of the Christian influence in the middle ages.

  9. In multiple cultures that reality is different. An example would be the Trobrianda tribes of what’s now known as the Papua New Guinea. In their culture when children are seven or eight years old they are already introduced to the concept of sex, playing erotic games and imitating adult behavior, and at eleven or twelve years old they are already encouraged to find a sex partner. This behavior still continues to this day.
  10.
  11. Through most of history this was never a controversy and children were never thought of as how they are today. Before the 12th century, sex between adults and children was common in a various places, and even after that, in medieval Europe the law ranged from 7 to 12 years old until the 19th century.
  12.
  13. This just exemplifies what I was talking about earlier. In a society with a different cultural background, where sex is not viewed as a taboo and children are taught earlier about sex, an arbitrary age of consent is not needed.  This just shows how much potential maturity children have and how false the assumption that children are pure and innocent is.
  14.
  15. Some people may see that as a bad thing. That would only be true if under the assumption that sex and sexuality is a bad or “sinful” thing, and I have yet to see evidence of that.
