CakesFW Installation Guide

If you are attempting to get piracy on a N3DS, it's probably a good idea to install CakesFW instead of rxTools. It's less bloated, boots faster, etc. IT DOESN'T HAVE REGIONFREE ON ITS OWN LIKE RXTOOLS, BUT YOU'RE GONNA WANT NTR ANYWAY AND RUNNING NTR FILLS THE FEATURE GAP.

Prerequisites:
A 9.0/9.1/9.2 N3DS with a homebrew access point already installed

1. Copy the "3ds" folder from FBI.zip onto your microSD card's root.
3. Copy the Cakes folder from the Cakes .zip file and the Cakes.dat file to your microSD card's root
4. Copy the FBI.cia from the FBI.zip into your microSD card's root
5. Copy the cetk and the firmware9.2.bin into the cakes folder, rename firmware9.2.bin firmware.bin
6. Start the HBL with your chosen entrypoint.
7. Select Cakes
8. select Patches, choose "Disable signature checks" only for now.
9. Boot the cfw.
10. Once you're back in the menu, immediatly start the HBL again.
11. This time, choose FBI.
12. Use FBI to install the cia manager of your choice.

SETTING UP EMUNAND

1. Extract the 3ds folder from the Emunand9 zip into your microSD card root
2. Launch the HBL then select Emunand9
3. Select EmuNAND Manager Options -> Dump SysNAND to NAND.bin
4. Once it's done, press B twice, then select to unmount the microSD card
5. Backup your microSD card content on your computer and put your NAND backup somewhere safe.
6. Put your microSD card back in the system and press B.
7. Select Complete EmuNAND Setup and confirm
8. Once it's done, press start to reboot and then restore your SD card backup.

Note: If it asks you to create an emuNAND to backup your sysNAND's bin, backup your files on your computer BEFORE doing this, and then continue on with the guide (sans the noted backup)

USING CAKESFW WITH EMUNAND

Just replace the firmware.bin with the 9.5.bin that you downloaded earlier. Make sure you rename it to firmware.bin like you did for the 9.2.bin!

After that, you can check to use emuNAND from the CakesFW settings. You're golden! Note that if you want to install a .cia to sysNAND after doing this, you're going to need to replace the firmware.bin file for the 9.2.bin version everytime that you want to do so. My advice? Keep a file manager on your HBL that allows you to quickly rename the two files before you boot CakesFW.
