- [2010-08-09 19::57:28] Doink: [SESSION START]
- [2010-08-09 19::57:40] Doink: [DATE: NOVEMBER 21st, 2015]
- [2010-08-09 19::57:57] Doink: [LOCATION: THE MISKATONIC INSTITUTE FOR GIFTED YOUTH]
- [2010-08-09 19::58:27] Doink: It's been a few days since the pilots had their first day of classes, and things are already beginning to fall into a sort of routine. Today, however, as the bell chimes marking the end of the school day, a new opportunity awaits them. Miskatonic, it appears, requires students to participate in at least one after-school club each, and NERV has finally given the pilots leave to stay after and participate.
- [2010-08-09 19::58:49] Doink: As the pilots walk down the stairs to the entrance hall, they can see a bulletin board against the wall, advertising the meeting times of the various clubs around the school.
- [2010-08-09 19::58:56] Doink: The hall is mostly empty by this point, as most students have either returned to their dorms or gone on to their club meetings.
- [2010-08-09 19::59:15] Doink: [Roleplaying locks—released!]
- [2010-08-09 20::00:11] John_Kilanger: looks over the club listing
- [2010-08-09 20::00:31] Ruru_Howard: "Sports, I'm saying it. The best way to keep our leg up it to remain highly visible, it makes us harder to assassinate as people would start asking questions.
- [2010-08-09 20::00:39] Kazimir_Prochazka: immediately begins looking for clubs that look like they'd hold mechanic or workshop meetings.
- [2010-08-09 20::00:58] John_Kilanger: "In all honesty I'd rather be in the book club."
- [2010-08-09 20::01:34] Kazimir_Prochazka: "I really don't want to be visible..."
- [2010-08-09 20::03:48] Doink: A moments inspection reveals several workshop related clubs—a woodworking club, a metalworking club, and some sort of "mechanic" club (it looks very science-y from the flyer.)
- [2010-08-09 20::04:16] Ruru_Howard: :huffs and flips her bangs in frustration. "I don't know why you're being difficult. You could at least -try- you know, see if you have some talent?"
- [2010-08-09 20::04:49] John_Kilanger: "I'
- [2010-08-09 20::04:51] Ruru_Howard: goes to look at which sports clubs seem the best funded. She's been researching for about a week.
- [2010-08-09 20::05:17] John_Kilanger: "I'm sure that I have some talent, It's just that I'd rather spend my time reading books"
- [2010-08-09 20::06:36] Doink: All of the sports clubs have fancy, gloss flyers—the school IS very well off, after all. The most prominently displayed flyers on the board, though, appear to be for the Track and Field club, the Rugby club, and the Lacrosse club.
- [2010-08-09 20::06:41] Kazimir_Prochazka: "This is good."
- [2010-08-09 20::06:54] Kazimir_Prochazka: rips off a tab from the "mechanics" club.
- [2010-08-09 20::07:49] Doink: There IS a book club flyer up on the board, although it takes a moment to find it. It's printed on plain colored paper with block text. Its location is listed as simply "The Library."
- [2010-08-09 20::08:02] Doink: It looks like it's been hanging there a very long time
- [2010-08-09 20::12:39] John_Kilanger: takes a tab from the Book Club flyer
- [2010-08-09 20::14:36] Ruru_Howard: looks between the track and field club and the lacross club. She tries to pick and frowns a bit before putting her hands on her hips and taking a wider stance. "I'll do both!"
- [2010-08-09 20::15:18] Kazimir_Prochazka: "Good luck with that."
- [2010-08-09 20::15:42] Kazimir_Prochazka: looks up and down the hallway, then back at his slip of paper on the Mechanics club...
- [2010-08-09 20::15:45] John_Kilanger: "Have fun, try not to overwork yourself"
- [2010-08-09 20::15:53] Kazimir_Prochazka: "Well, It'd appear I still have some time."
- [2010-08-09 20::17:50] Ruru_Howard: "Of course I'm not going to have -fun-, it's not about -fun-." She huffs and crosses her arms,shaking her head disapprovingly.
- [2010-08-09 20::19:54] Kazimir_Prochazka: "I think you're taking this a little too seriously. The kids that just played to win back in Britain...they were raised up like kings for the čurák waving contests that ensued."
- [2010-08-09 20::20:39] Kazimir_Prochazka: "...and they people tossed em aside because they were unpersonable jerks. You better at least pretend to have fun, if you're still trying to take over this place."
- [2010-08-09 20::21:12] Ruru_Howard: scoffs at that.
- [2010-08-09 20::22:40] Ruru_Howard: "I'm -highly- personable, and of course I can pretend to have fun. The -idea- is to have power to exert on the system, that does mean keeping a friendly public face."
- [2010-08-09 20::26:45] Kazimir_Prochazka: "You are indeed a monster."
- [2010-08-09 20::28:34] Ruru_Howard: sticks her tongue out at that.
- [2010-08-09 20::28:53] Ruru_Howard: "I am the -best- kind of monster, is what you mean."
- [2010-08-09 20::30:06] Ruru_Howard: "Anyway, at least head over to the Track and Field club with me, they meet today. At best you'll get to look at girl running in skimpy clothing. That's a draw right?"
- [2010-08-09 20::30:27] Kazimir_Prochazka: smiles
- [2010-08-09 20::30:34] Kazimir_Prochazka: "I can't argue with that."
- [2010-08-09 20::30:48] John_Kilanger: "Only if we check out the book club afterwords
- [2010-08-09 20::32:07] Ruru_Howard: "Yes, I will go to the book club after."
- [2010-08-09 20::33:24] Kazimir_Prochazka: "Of course you will. You need to be popular."
- [2010-08-09 20::36:56] Ruru_Howard: "C'mon. Lets start building a religion."
- [2010-08-09 20::37:04] Ruru_Howard: stalks of to meet Destiny!
- [2010-08-09 20::37:58] Doink: [SCENE CHANGE]
- [2010-08-09 20::38:18] Doink: The well-kept grounds of the Miskatonic Institute are home to a number of fields, field-houses, and courts of all kinds, and, even in the chill of a New England mid-November, students can be seen around each. These are the Sports Clubs, one of the few house-integrated activities at the school—and even then, only integrated when competing against other schools. The House Games in the spring, of course, were a different story....
- [2010-08-09 20::38:34] Doink: Here, around the corner of the sprawling school building, lies one particular field, surrounded by a neat track of traditional brick red. There’s currently a group clustered just inside the waist-high fence that surrounds it, chatting aimlessly with one another as if waiting for something.
- [2010-08-09 20::42:13] Doink: [Roleplaying Locks—Released]
- [2010-08-09 20::45:26] Ruru_Howard: walks up to the side of the fence and leans over. "Hi! Is this the right place for the track and field club?" She asks with a bright smile.
- [2010-08-09 20::47:41] Doink: The conversation quiets down immediately, the students near the fence eying Ruru uncertainty.
- [2010-08-09 20::48:51] Kazimir_Prochazka: gestures towards the track members already gathered:
- [2010-08-09 20::48:55] Kazimir_Prochazka: "It's all you."
- [2010-08-09 20::49:04] Doink: After a moment, a voice pipes up from behind you. "This is the place, yea. You all interested in joining?"
- [2010-08-09 20::51:37] Kazimir_Prochazka: turns to meet the person, answering: "No, I'm just here for company."
- [2010-08-09 20::51:51] Kazimir_Prochazka: also mutters under his breath..."and damage control..."
- [2010-08-09 20::51:53] John_Kilanger: turns around
- [2010-08-09 20::52:21] John_Kilanger: "Neither am I"
- [2010-08-09 20::52:48] Ruru_Howard: grins and nods. "I'm here to join, at at least find out if I'm good enough." She keeps that smile wide.
- [2010-08-09 20::56:28] Doink: Walking towards you from the nearby fieldhouse is a tall, athletic looking girl, her brown hair tied back in a ponytail, dressed in what appears to be the Arkham Track and Field Uniform (unlike the rest, who are mostly still in their school uniforms).
- [2010-08-09 20::56:59] Doink: She nods. "We can do that."
- [2010-08-09 20::58:18] Doink: She takes a look behind you at the group of other students. "Oh come ON!" she yells, suddenly. "How lazy are you? Get to the fieldhouse and get your damn uniforms on! We're already running fifteen minutes late! Get going!"
- [2010-08-09 20::59:31] Doink: The students grumble and shuffle away. She turns back to Ruru. "Sorry about that. The Track and Field Club is great, but some of our members need some extra... motivation."
- [2010-08-09 20::59:52] Doink: "I'm Tessie. Team Captain."
- [2010-08-09 21::02:08] Ruru_Howard: offers her hand. "Hi! I'm Haru. Pleased to meetcha. So do you guys compete on a state level?"
- [2010-08-09 21::03:39] Doink: Tessie takes it and shakes it earnestly. "We do, but there's not much competition. Only four or five schools compete at that level around here."
- [2010-08-09 21::06:47] Ruru_Howard: There is a soft huh at that. "Guess I'm too used to Cali. So how do I get started?"
- [2010-08-09 21::09:20] Doink: Tessie shrugs. "If you want in, you're in. School rules say we can't turn anyone down. But you'll have to try out to see if you're on the competition team, if you want to be."
- [2010-08-09 21::09:49] Doink: "Plus there's the House Games in the spring, but... Not sure where you all fall there."
- [2010-08-09 21::09:53] Ruru_Fields: grins widely at that.
- [2010-08-09 21::10:31] Ruru_Fields: "We're Free Agents, we're allowed to throw our support wherever. The draft will be fierce. I woudn't be here if I didn't intend to be on the competition team."
- [2010-08-09 21::12:37] Doink: Tessie grins. "Glad to have you, then. Since our last group of upperclassmen graduated, we've been... well, we've been sucking, to be honest."
- [2010-08-09 21::13:18] Doink: She glares past Ruru towards the groups of students filtering back out to the field, now in track uniforms.
- [2010-08-09 21::13:55] Ruru_Fields: rolls her shoulders and limbers a bit. "Well without a competative cheerleading team I'll do my best. I don't have a uniform but I'd like to try out as soon as possible!" There is that dangerous little smile again.
- [2010-08-09 21::14:45] Doink: Tessie nods. "Well, you'll have to turn in a club form down at the office tomorrow before we can do that, but if you want to join in a drill or two now you can."
- [2010-08-09 21::15:29] Ruru_Fields: "Sure! That sounds like a good warmup."
- [2010-08-09 21::17:14] Ruru_Fields: "I -do- have to go with the boys to the book club in a bit anyway."
- [2010-08-09 21::17:21] Doink: "Alright. Come on then. You'll have to run in your uniform, though." She opens the gate in the fence and walks through, holding it open for Ruru.
- [2010-08-09 21::17:38] Doink: She eyes the boys for a moment as she does so. "...You two just here to watch?"
- [2010-08-09 21::18:45] Kazimir_Prochazka: lets out a cough...
- [2010-08-09 21::18:47] Kazimir_Prochazka: "In a way."
- [2010-08-09 21::19:18] John_Kilanger: "You could say that"
- [2010-08-09 21::21:35] Doink: "...Right." She turns to the rest of the team. "Alright you worthless sacks of crap! Get in lines! We're doing drills! If you haven't stretched yet, that's your own damn fault for waiting!"
- [2010-08-09 21::21:36] Ruru_Fields: walks in and strats unlimbering, stretching out as she nears the track with a hungry grin on her face. "You sure you won't stay behind me as emotional support Kaz?" She teases lightly.
- [2010-08-09 21::25:07] Kazimir_Prochazka: "Emotional support how? Run and fall behind you so you can feel faster than me?"
- [2010-08-09 21::26:13] Ruru_Fields: "No, I just meant cheering me on. -Sheesh- not -everything- has to be a single player competition, sometimes groups are effective too..."
- [2010-08-09 21::26:26] Doink: The team members begin to line up in rows on the track itself, one line in each lane.
- [2010-08-09 21::27:09] Ruru_Fields: lines up on the oustide line, taking deep breaths.
- [2010-08-09 21::27:32] Kazimir_Prochazka: moves up alongside Ruru.
- [2010-08-09 21::27:52] Kazimir_Prochazka: "I am bored. And I can't let Ms. Sharpshooter get all the glory."
- [2010-08-09 21::28:10] John_Kilanger: stays on the sidelines, cheering for Kaz and Ruru
- [2010-08-09 21::29:05] Kazimir_Prochazka: takes off his blazer and throws it by John. "Keep an eye on that while I try to make Ruru feel better. Running is not my forte."
- [2010-08-09 21::29:18] Doink: "We're starting with sprinting!" yells Tessie. "One Hundred Yards of sprinting! The Fifty Yard line is marked up ahead! Run there and back before tagging the next person in line! The last line to finish has to run it again! Ready on my mark!"
- [2010-08-09 21::29:39] Doink: She claps her hands and the first in each line takes off down the track.
- [2010-08-09 21::29:42] John_Kilanger: picks up the blazer
- [2010-08-09 21::29:55] Doink: Kaz and Ruru are both fifth in their lines
- [2010-08-09 21::35:02] Doink: The first line returns, and the seconds take off
- [2010-08-09 21::35:16] Doink: After a moment, the third.
- [2010-08-09 21::35:28] Doink: Then the fourth.
- [2010-08-09 21::35:44] Kazimir_Prochazka: crouches down, ready to run.
- [2010-08-09 21::36:41] Ruru_Fields: is ready to blast, her muscles tensing as she gets ready to tear up the track. She exhales raggedly as she waits for her team member to tag her.
- [2010-08-09 21::36:49] Doink: The fourth line comes back, the two in Kaz and Ruru's lines neck and neck. They tag in almost simultaniously!
- [2010-08-09 21::38:38] Ruru_Fields: kicks off with speed, pushing herself to the maximum that she can go, first impressions and all that. Her legs pump as she keeps her profile into the wind small, arms cutting through the air as she dashes almost to the turn in those quick seconds.
- [2010-08-09 21::38:49] Kazimir_Prochazka: immediately hears the slap of skin against his outstretched hand and digs into the dirt with his feet, bursting off from the line. His bulky frame moves surprisingly fast and to people who are watching he appears to be running very close to the ground...keeping his hands tucked towards the inside of his chest...
- [2010-08-09 21::39:33] Kazimir_Prochazka: then notices Ruru flying past him, scarf flowing in the wind like the tail of a bird. Even trying to push himself, he gains no ground.
- [2010-08-09 21::42:28] Ruru_Fields: feels Kaz behind her, the other people in the race chasing her, the feeling of being persued sends adreninline in her system screaming into overdrive as she tags that post and whips around, her heart beating so incredibly fast as she flees from the race, right towards the finish line, clearing that 50 meter distance in just a few short breaths.
- [2010-08-09 21::43:21] Kazimir_Prochazka: follows in right behind Ruru, skipping to a short halt in next to her trying to catch his breath.
- [2010-08-09 21::43:33] Kazimir_Prochazka: "I...I think you're a little too fast."
- [2010-08-09 21::44:08] Doink: The next group takes off down the line as the two come in—a bit belated, though. The remaining kids are all murmuring to each other excitedly.
- [2010-08-09 21::44:57] Ruru_Fields: gasps for air with a bit of a shaky laugh. "Lots..." She pants and rests her hands on her knees. "Of practice... Cheerleader... Boys..."
- [2010-08-09 21::45:28] Ruru_Fields: waves off her feeble attempt at an explanation of her record breaking speed.
- [2010-08-09 21::45:31] John_Kilanger: is clapping as hard as he can after his two teaates have finished the race
- [2010-08-09 21::45:44] Doink: Tessie rushes over from the sidelines, an excited look on her face. "Haru! What in the... Damn! Am I glad you've shown up!"
- [2010-08-09 21::45:48] John_Kilanger: "That was fantastic, I didn't know you could run that fast."
- [2010-08-09 21::46:04] Kazimir_Prochazka: walks over to John, keeping his other ear on the conversations elsewhere:
- [2010-08-09 21::46:22] Kazimir_Prochazka: "So how many girls had their eyes on me. Or did Ruru steal the spotlight with that one."
- [2010-08-09 21::47:14] John_Kilanger: "To be honest, I think everyone was looking at Ruru flying down the track to notice you"
- [2010-08-09 21::47:20] John_Kilanger: hands him his blazer
- [2010-08-09 21::47:53] Ruru_Fields: hehehehs at that and straightens. She adjusts her bangs. "Just gotta work on my stamina... no way I can keep that up." She says with a grin.
- [2010-08-09 21::48:19] Kazimir_Prochazka: uses the blazer's sleeve to wipe some sweat from his forehead. "Leave it to our self-appointed rock-star to make us invisible huh?"
- [2010-08-09 21::48:25] Doink: Tessie turns to the rest of the team as the last runners come in. "You see that?" she yells. "That is how you run! Take THAT as an example! Fourth line! You lost! That means you get to run again! The rest of you, head to the middle of the track and wait for me there!"
- [2010-08-09 21::49:38] Doink: She turns back to Ruru, "Wow. You are going to help this team SO much. I'll get the paperwork for you to join officially tomorrow, I promise."
- [2010-08-09 21::50:01] Ruru_Fields: whews and stands up straight. "We should be going to the book club. But I'll be here tomorrow for sure." She grins brightly.
- [2010-08-09 21::50:07] Kazimir_Prochazka: gives Ruru a bland clap for her success.
- [2010-08-09 21::50:32] John_Kilanger: "Congradulations, Ruru"
- [2010-08-09 21::50:57] Ruru_Fields: beams to her teammates. "Thanks."
- [2010-08-09 21::51:49] Ruru_Fields: She decides to collect the boys and head off with a wave to the track team, heading towards the gate once out of earshot she says. "Not even gonna lie... I've never run that fast in my life..."
- [2010-08-09 21::52:06] Kazimir_Prochazka: "Panic attack?"
- [2010-08-09 21::52:22] Ruru_Fields: shrugs a bit.
- [2010-08-09 21::52:29] Ruru_Fields: "I don't know... maybe..."
- [2010-08-09 21::52:49] Ruru_Fields: "But if I can just -harness- that feeling..."
- [2010-08-09 21::53:10] John_Kilanger: "Well, you came here in order to get attention, and by god did you earn it.
- [2010-08-09 21::53:14] John_Kilanger: "
- [2010-08-09 21::54:16] Doink: [SCENE CHANGE]
- [2010-08-09 21::55:35] Ruru_Fields: "Lets hope Lacross goes so well... Anyway, book club. Do you think Gravity's Rainbow is too pretentious to be caught reading? Maybe I should stick with Chabon. Fuck... How do you look stunning with a book... A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius? I can say I'm re-reading it for the irony..."
- [2010-08-09 21::55:53] Kazimir_Prochazka: gives Ruru a firm smack to the back of the head.
- [2010-08-09 21::56:07] Doink: The Library at Miskatonic, as the Pilots have seen before, is quite an elaborate affair, taking up almost the entire back half of one of the building's wings. It, like the rest of the school, is an odd mish-mash of technologies, dusty old books lining shelves next to expensive computer terminals.
- [2010-08-09 21::56:09] Kazimir_Prochazka: "You got to be the star, time to give the rest of us a turn."
- [2010-08-09 21::56:35] Ruru_Fields: ows softly at that. "-Fine-..." She says and rubs the back of her head, giving Kaz a pout.
- [2010-08-09 21::56:50] Kazimir_Prochazka: "That doesn't work. I know you're tougher than that."
- [2010-08-09 21::57:09] Ruru_Fields: huffs and drops the act.
- [2010-08-09 21::57:14] Ruru_Fields: "Spoilsport."
- [2010-08-09 21::57:15] Doink: It is silent as the pilots enter. There doesn't seem to be anyone around the entrance, club or no.
- [2010-08-09 21::57:46] Ruru_Fields: might actually be pouting -more- at having had her act stepped on.
- [2010-08-09 21::58:21] John_Kilanger: looks around the linbrary, to try and find the club meeting,
- [2010-08-09 21::59:24] Ruru_Fields: "I really do like Eggars though, even if A.H.W.O.S.G. was realy uneven in the second half. You keep up on american literature at all?"
- [2010-08-09 22::00:07] John_Kilanger: "hmm...was I late?"
- [2010-08-09 22::00:11] Kazimir_Prochazka: walks slowly through the shelves, looking around at section names and book titles.
- [2010-08-09 22::00:19] Kazimir_Prochazka: "I keep up on science fiction mostly."
- [2010-08-09 22::00:50] John_Kilanger: "Oh? What do you read Kaz?"
- [2010-08-09 22::01:16] Ruru_Fields: "Ah... not really my genre... Often can't get past the covers." She says as she peers and searches for the elusivve book club with the boys.
- [2010-08-09 22::01:18] John_Kilanger: begins to look around the non fiction section
- [2010-08-09 22::01:23] Kazimir_Prochazka: "Asimov, a little Wolfe..."
- [2010-08-09 22::01:49] Kazimir_Prochazka: "Nick Sagan put out some interesting books we might be able to relate to. Hah!"
- [2010-08-09 22::01:50] Doink: From the entranceway, there are rows of shelves stretching off to the right and left. The right side, however, cuts off nearby, as the library does not carry on into that wing. To the left, though, it stretches a long way...
- [2010-08-09 22::02:50] Kazimir_Prochazka: "Well, I guess we can check here first, [Kaz gestures to the right] then just follow the library through. Does that slip have any information on it John?"
- [2010-08-09 22::03:09] John_Kilanger: "I've never read Asimov. Never really got around to it while at Nevada."
- [2010-08-09 22::03:23] John_Kilanger: "I don't know..."
- [2010-08-09 22::03:33] John_Kilanger: looks at the slip from the flyer"
- [2010-08-09 22::04:02] Doink: The slip simply says "The library, after school."
- [2010-08-09 22::04:03] Ruru_Fields: "I think the last Sci-Fi thing I read was about this kickass cyborg girl. Was a trilogy, picked up the middle book because it was named Killswitch... I liked it, even if it wasn't the best. Enjoyable like a steak of violence and pervy robot sex, but it was no fois gois.
- [2010-08-09 22::05:34] John_Kilanger: I've mainly read Ender's Game while at the Nevada base, as well as a little bit of Dune."
- [2010-08-09 22::06:23] Kazimir_Prochazka: looks at several book spines, reading the titles and fingering some off the shelf a bit to peak at their covers...
- [2010-08-09 22::06:37] Ruru_Fields: "Oh man, I call Peter Wiggins."
- [2010-08-09 22::06:40] Kazimir_Prochazka: "Dune was a good read."
- [2010-08-09 22::08:31] Ruru_Fields: peers at Kaz. "What Ender character would you be? This is totally battle school." She says as she rounds the corner to seek out the source of that noise.
- [2010-08-09 22::09:30] Kazimir_Prochazka: "...Probably Ender. In a way."
- [2010-08-09 22::10:22] John_Kilanger: "Bad choice, man."
- [2010-08-09 22::11:16] Kazimir_Prochazka: "I never liked the series that much."
- [2010-08-09 22::13:39] Doink: As Ruru rounds the corner of the shelves, she finds herself looking into a small alcove, set into the wall of the library itself. It looks like it was intended to be some sort of study area, with a small desk-like table and some comfortable looking chairs illuminated by an old-fashioned looking lamp.
- [2010-08-09 22::15:03] Doink: However, it is currently dominated by stacks of papers, books, notebooks, and odd computer equipment strewn haphazardly about. Behind the desk sits a boy, writing furiously in a notebook in front of him. There are two chairs arranged on the other side of the table, almost as if it was trying to look like an office desk.
- [2010-08-09 22::15:30] Doink: He doesn't seem to notice Ruru.
- [2010-08-09 22::18:22] Ruru_Fields: moves herself over and sits opposite the boy. She waits to be noticed. He -should- notice her. Or so she thinks.
- [2010-08-09 22::20:14] Doink: The boy finishes whatever it is he is writing and sets his notebook aside, turning to one of the several computer monitors set beside him. A closer look reveals him to be young, at least two or three years younger than the pilots.
- [2010-08-09 22::20:44] Doink: "Well?" He says suddenly, not looking at Ruru. "Are you here for business, or are you wasting my time?"
- [2010-08-09 22::21:47] Ruru_Fields: giggles lightly at that. "Depends on what kind of business you do doesn't it? What's the trade?" She asks resting her chin on a hand.
- [2010-08-09 22::23:10] Doink: The boy finally looks at Ruru—just a sidelong glance—before turning back to his computer with a sigh. "The latter, I see..."
- [2010-08-09 22::24:02] Doink: He types a few things. "Haru Fields, Class 2-A... Oh, you're one of the new NERV kids, aren't you. No wonder you just came blundering in here."
- [2010-08-09 22::24:15] Ruru_Fields: twitches a brow in annoyance.
- [2010-08-09 22::24:47] Ruru_Fields: "You say -new- NERV kids like there were -old- NERV kids..."
- [2010-08-09 22::25:31] Doink: The boy remains silent. He switches to another keyboard hidden somewhere under the first and begins typing.
- [2010-08-09 22::26:38] Kazimir_Prochazka: sighs.
- [2010-08-09 22::26:56] Kazimir_Prochazka: "Well, Ruru ran off, so I suppose you can use this as a chance to actually make a splash in the book club John."
- [2010-08-09 22::27:15] Kazimir_Prochazka: "We'll find her once you introduce yourself, or something."
- [2010-08-09 22::27:20] Ruru_Fields: "Well, were there? Also, I don't know your name."
- [2010-08-09 22::28:09] John_Kilanger: "My making a splash at the club depends entirely on us finding it"
- [2010-08-09 22::33:41] Kazimir_Prochazka: "Then lets make a move."
- [2010-08-09 22::34:02] Kazimir_Prochazka: begins walking down the left side of the library...keeping an eye out for students or information desks. Or a map.
- [2010-08-09 22::34:46] John_Kilanger: heads off to the right path, looking for any sign of a club or student
- [2010-08-09 22::44:44] Doink: After walking down the rows of books for a moment, the rows open up into what looks like another study area, with rows of computer terminals and some comfortable looking couches with reading lamps over them.
- [2010-08-09 22::45:18] Doink: It is, however, empty, except for two people sitting on opposing couches near a window.
- [2010-08-09 22::46:28] John_Kilanger: approaches the two people sitting by the window
- [2010-08-09 22::46:30] Kazimir_Prochazka: announces himself with a flat "Hey..." and begins to walk towards the two with his hand raised.
- [2010-08-09 22::46:44] John_Kilanger: "Hello, do any of you know where the Book Club is?
- [2010-08-09 22::51:25] Doink: As they approach, they can make out the forms of the two. A boy and a girl, it seems. The boy looks up from his book as they near, and gets to his feet.
- [2010-08-09 22::52:46] Doink: He's tall—very tall, actually, for a boy his age—and gangly. Puberty obviously hit him hard, because his proportions all seem awkward and off. He's pale, too, his dirty blonde hair waving messily on his freckled face.
- [2010-08-09 22::53:14] Doink: "Th-th-this is i-i-it," he says.
- [2010-08-09 22::53:45] Kazimir_Prochazka: lets out a whistle of disappointment.
- [2010-08-09 22::53:51] Kazimir_Prochazka: "Wow. Nobody reads anymore, huh?"
- [2010-08-09 22::54:15] John_Kilanger: 'Hello, My name is Johnathon Kilanger, and I'm interested in joining."
- [2010-08-09 22::56:04] Doink: The tall boy smiles. Its an odd expression, on his face. "C-Cool. I'm Nathan F-F-F-Fisher. President." He puts out a hand.
- [2010-08-09 22::56:47] John_Kilanger: takes his hand and shakes it "A pleasure to meet you"
- [2010-08-09 22::57:31] Doink: Nathan shakes it once before letting go. His grip is cold and a little slimy.
- [2010-08-09 22::58:34] Doink: He gestures at the girl, still engrossed in her book. "This is my sister, Rachel. Shes also in the cl-cl-club."
- [2010-08-09 22::59:01] Doink: "We have more members, b-b-but they don't show up every day."
- [2010-08-09 22::59:55] John_Kilanger: "Ah, that's good. I was beginning to worry that it was just the two of you here"
- [2010-08-09 23::00:26] Doink: Rachel looks up for a moment as her name is mentioned. She seems to lack the... elongated nature of her brother, but she is likewise thin and pale, her dirty blonde hair tied back in a functional looking braid.
- [2010-08-09 23::00:45] Doink: She gives the two pilots a smile before returning to her book.
- [2010-08-09 23::02:34] Doink: "We're not very f-f-f-formal, here," says Nathan, sitting back down. "We're r-r-r-reading Moby Dick right now, if you want to p-pick it up. We do have d-d-discussions when more people come."
- [2010-08-09 23::04:27] John_Kilanger: "Ah, I havn't read that one yet. So do I need to sign anything to join?"
- [2010-08-09 23::05:55] Doink: He nods. "Just go to the office tomorrow and s-s-sign a form. So they know you're in one."
- [2010-08-09 23::06:46] John_Kilanger: "I'll go ahead and to that then. When is the next club meeting, by the way?"
- [2010-08-09 23::07:40] Doink: "T-t-tomorrow. Three days a w-w-w-week."
- [2010-08-09 23::08:42] John_Kilanger: "Alright, I will leave you to your reading then. See you tomorrow."
- [2010-08-09 23::08:55] Kazimir_Prochazka: "Hmmm. Maybe if that mechanic club is slow I'll join you. More the merrier, right?"
- [2010-08-09 23::10:42] Doink: "The more the m-m-merrier."
- [2010-08-09 23::11:34] Kazimir_Prochazka: finally gives into a smile, if only because of this student's stuttering and apparently shyness.
- [2010-08-09 23::13:14] Ruru_Fields: jumps down. But from where you might ask? Doesn't look like she's telling, but she does seem a bit dusty.
- [2010-08-09 23::13:35] Ruru_Fields: "We good? I'm good. I'm -really- good."
- [2010-08-09 23::13:57] Kazimir_Prochazka: "Pokud se v létání kurva jsi spadnout z?!"
- [2010-08-09 23::13:59] John_Kilanger: stares at Ruru dumbfounded
- [2010-08-09 23::14:23] John_Kilanger: "Er... yeah, we good"
- [2010-08-09 23::14:48] Kazimir_Prochazka: "So were you just playing cat and mouse with us from the tops of library stacks this entire time?"
- [2010-08-09 23::15:16] Doink: Nathan just watches disinterestedly. He's not actually staring, he just doesn't seem to blink much.
- [2010-08-09 23::15:42] Ruru_Fields: shakes her head.
- [2010-08-09 23::16:25] Ruru_Fields: "No I was securing my future as a power-player in the school. By the way, start converting your allowance into liquidatable assets... Or start investing... We'll need the cash later."
- [2010-08-09 23::16:47] John_Kilanger: "...O...kay?"
- [2010-08-09 23::17:05] John_Kilanger: "For what reason, may I ask?"
- [2010-08-09 23::17:16] Kazimir_Prochazka: waves at Nathan and the others, then shakes his head and begins walking away from the book club nook.
- [2010-08-09 23::17:31] Kazimir_Prochazka: "I'm getting a car, and it will be liquidated over my dead body."
- [2010-08-09 23::18:57] Ruru_Fields: "For political maneuvering. How much do you need for a beater anyway? We get 300 a week...
- [2010-08-09 23::19:46] John_Kilanger: begins to follow after kaz, waving to Nathan while he leaves"
- [2010-08-09 23::20:07] Kazimir_Prochazka: "And that 300 will be stored someplace safe until I can buy a car that won't suck."
- [2010-08-09 23::20:48] Kazimir_Prochazka: "...I'm actually a little surprised you arn't suggesting I get the flashiest and cheapest set of wheels I can afford so I can be your personal chauffeur."
- [2010-08-09 23::22:46] Doink: [SCENE CHANGE]
- [2010-08-09 23::23:29] Doink: The three pilots head down to the lowest levels of the building, following the instructions from the "mechanics" club flyer.
- [2010-08-09 23::24:19] Doink: A doorway off the entrance hall leads down into the basement, past an old, now-unused boiler room and up to an old metal door. The sign next to it simply says "Metal Shop."
- [2010-08-09 23::25:34] Kazimir_Prochazka: "Oh I like this. Here's to hoping they'll be teaching 16 year olds how to make ash-trays or something."
- [2010-08-09 23::27:19] Kazimir_Prochazka: gives a solid two knocks on the metal door before opening it and steping through.
- [2010-08-09 23::27:32] Ruru_Fields: "No seriously Kaz, I'm not -that- shallow. If you don't get to do your own thing you won't help me when I -actually- need it. See? I'm not a -complete- tyrant."
- [2010-08-09 23::28:10] Kazimir_Prochazka: "Yes, instead you're a very transparent tyrant. Use your boyfriend for it."
- [2010-08-09 23::30:06] Ruru_Fields: pfffts at that. "He's -not- my boyfriend. I'mm only transparent to you because we live together and pretenses would be difficult to keep up."
- [2010-08-09 23::33:21] Doink: As Kaz opens the door, there is a *ping* of metal somewhere in the room, and something strikes Kaz hard in the forehead, sending him staggering backwards into the other two.
- [2010-08-09 23::34:29] John_Kilanger: tries to grab maz before he hits the floor
- [2010-08-09 23::34:39] John_Kilanger: kaz*
- [2010-08-09 23::35:00] Ruru_Fields: eeps and tries to catch Kaz with a bit of a pained expression. "F-Kaz you okay?"
- [2010-08-09 23::35:04] Kazimir_Prochazka: immediately barrels out of John's grip and flips out and around the door to croutches down alongside the doorjamb: eyes wide and with him rubbing his forehead to make sure there isn't a hole.
- [2010-08-09 23::35:17] Kazimir_Prochazka: "....What the hell just happened?"
- [2010-08-09 23::36:35] Doink: "Oh god damnit, not again." A female voice echoes faintly from somewhere in the room beyond the door.
- [2010-08-09 23::37:22] Kazimir_Prochazka: calms down a bit, and answers back as loud as he can muster: "If I come in now, am I going to be shot?"
- [2010-08-09 23::38:23] Doink: "Huh?" You hear a metallic clang, and some footsteps. "There's no guns in here. Just defective parts," says the approaching voice.
- [2010-08-09 23::39:19] Kazimir_Prochazka: peeks his head into the room, looking for the owner of the voice.
- [2010-08-09 23::40:24] Kazimir_Prochazka: "Apparently. I'm just lucky I didn't take that in the eyes. Since I took that to the face, I guess that means I pass not being squishy enough to die in here."
- [2010-08-09 23::41:02] Kazimir_Prochazka: steps fully inside, checking around for when stuff will next explode. "You part of the mechanics club?"
- [2010-08-09 23::41:36] Doink: Nearing the door is a female student, about the pilot's age. Her uniform and her short-cropped brown hair air are stained with grease, and she's got some sort of odd toolbelt around her waist.
- [2010-08-09 23::42:16] Doink: She smiles. "You could say that. I'm it's President. Harriet West."
- [2010-08-09 23::42:42] Kazimir_Prochazka: holds out his hand and tries his best to smile without twisting his face in pain.
- [2010-08-09 23::43:05] Kazimir_Prochazka: "Kazimir Prochazka, I'm the new guy on campus and figured the mechanic's club would be worth checking out."
- [2010-08-09 23::43:51] Doink: The room around the group appears to be another old boiler room. It's littered with metal workbenches, strange power tools, piping, wires, and all manner of odd machines. A few small groups of other students are scurrying around, building or working on various projects.
- [2010-08-09 23::44:52] Doink: She shakes Kaz's hand, leaving a small smear of grease behind. "Always glad to get some fresh meat down here," she says with a laugh. "Anything in particular you work with?"
- [2010-08-09 23::45:04] Ruru_Fields: frowns at Harriet. Chiiiiii~
- [2010-08-09 23::49:42] Kazimir_Prochazka: "I uh...I can field strip a CZ 805 and know how to machine custom replacement parts? I know a bit about cars too. Mostly...mostly the breaking of them."
- [2010-08-09 23::50:10] Kazimir_Prochazka: suddenly feels a little too sincere.
- [2010-08-09 23::50:28] Kazimir_Prochazka: "...hovno."
- [2010-08-09 23::53:49] Ruru_Fields: feels the bitch rising, she swallows, mouth going dry as she tries to keep it all in.
- [2010-08-09 23::53:54] Doink: If this statement phased Harriet, she doesn't let it show. "Those are Czech made, right? Impressive. You'll have to talk to Jeff, he's the artillery expert. Or John, he does explosives. They're working on some sort of cannon right now I think—"
- [2010-08-09 23::54:26] Doink: A small bang sounds from somewhere in the bowels of the room. The smell of smoke wafts towards the group.
- [2010-08-09 23::54:47] Doink: "—Were working on one, at least." She looks past Kazimir to Ruru and John. "Are they with you?"
- [2010-08-09 23::55:35] Ruru_Fields: forces the smile. "Haru. Nice to meet you Harriet."
- [2010-08-09 23::56:10] Kazimir_Prochazka: lets out a small smile, and mutters: "Kde domov můj, kde domov můj? Dílna je můj domov."
- [2010-08-09 23::57:31] Kazimir_Prochazka: "They are...an escort if you can call that. We've just been traveling from place to place looking for clubs to burn time with. What are they using for an explosive? Black powder or a substitute?"
- [2010-08-09 23::59:35] Doink: She gives a clipped wave to Haru before turning back to Kaz. "Some kind of substitute. I'm not sure, John was cooking it up in spare time, no idea what he put into it."
- [2010-08-10 00::00:28] Doink: The smoke smells vaguely of.... fruit.
- [2010-08-10 00::01:33] Kazimir_Prochazka: "I think I have found my new home."
- [2010-08-10 00::03:39] Ruru_Fields: grits her teeth and gives a soft tch of annoyance.
- [2010-08-10 00::04:41] Kazimir_Prochazka: tries to take a survey to discover what sort of things are being constructed in the room, before turning back to Ruru and asking "What has you in a fit?"
- [2010-08-10 00::05:30] Doink: Harriet smiles. "Feel free too look around as much as you want. I have to go finish repairing the steam valve before someone else gets bolted in the face."
- [2010-08-10 00::05:35] Doink: She leaves
- [2010-08-10 00::07:44] Ruru_Fields: adjusts her bangs. "Just the natural response of any girl when confronted with someone she can't get a leg up on by conventional means. No, redact that, when confronted with another -girl- she can't get a leg up on." She sighs.
- [2010-08-10 00::08:17] Ruru_Fields: "Why do you think popular girls are such bitches to nerdy shy girls? It's because the value systems are different."
- [2010-08-10 00::08:28] Kazimir_Prochazka: "I wouldn't mind getting a leg up on her either."
- [2010-08-10 00::08:45] Ruru_Fields: almost growls at that.
- [2010-08-10 00::08:57] Ruru_Fields: "That's -exactly- what I'm talking about."
- [2010-08-10 00::09:20] Kazimir_Prochazka: "You're going to be miss popular. That just means you'll have more backing against her...so long as they don't revolt and shoot you."
- [2010-08-10 00::09:24] Kazimir_Prochazka: "No problem."
- [2010-08-10 00::10:44] Ruru_Fields: "No, it just means I'll never be able to beat her in her own arena. I'll just come off like a bitch for no reason. I hate being a bitch for no reason, I like -constructive- bitchiness."
- [2010-08-10 00::13:41] Ruru_Fields: "Dammit... Why can't I win at everything forever..." SHe huffs, blowing at her bangs.
- [2010-08-10 00::14:02] Kazimir_Prochazka: "...You are a character all right."
- [2010-08-10 00::14:43] Ruru_Fields: grins at that.
- [2010-08-10 00::14:52] Ruru_Fields: "I know, it's why I'm special."
- [2010-08-10 00::17:58] Doink: [END SESSION]
