[i]10 things you might want to know about Mina-chan[/i]

1. She is a member of the seiyuu group Sphere along with Tomatsu Haruka, Aki Toyosaki, and Ayahi Takagaki.
2. Born and brought up in Kobe, Hyogo, her family was affected by the Great Hanshin Earthquake of 1995. She was aged only 3 at the time but recalls taking shelter in a car.
3. Being from the area, Mina’s Kansai accent down pat and the other Sphere girls often make her recite silly lines in the dialect for fun. Incidentally, her role in Umi Monogatari had her adopting an Okinawan accent.
4. Her piano-playing ability came via the influence of her mother, who teaches piano for a living. That makes Mina the only member of the Sakurakou Keionbu to actually know how to play her character’s instrument prior to the anime airing.
5. She’s left-handed, and has a right-sided single dimple. She names the latter one of her charm points.
5. At the time of writing Minako is in her final year of high school, leaving her parents and older brother in Kobe in April 2009 to stay with a family friend in Tokyo. Incidentally she had already procured a passport at the age of 16, a requirement for her high-school exchange trip abroad.
6. Within Sphere/Music Ray’n, she’s closest to Tomatsu Haruka. They’re just a year apart in age and are both are from smaller cities outside Tokyo. After winning their auditions their agency would often get the two together and send them on dates to the amusement park… with their manager in tow. They have spent the last two Christmases together – both years Mina stayed over at Haru-chan’s house, if you want it to sound more romantic.
8. While Minako was stuck in Kobe with the rest of the girls working in Tokyo, she appeared in movies, plays and adverts. These included lead roles in an award-winning movie called Ghost of Yesterday and blue bird.
9. Bukimin is the less than desirable nickname bestowed upon her by Asumi Kana on Umi Monogatari radio. Kana’s affectionately called Asumin by fans, so she adapted Mina’s to match hers but…bukimi (不気味) means disgusting.
10. She’s a Hanshin Tigers fan.
