  1. Part of our SLA with Time Warner includes a latency guarantee. This means that travel time for data packets will never go above a certain threshold while the packets are traversing Time Warner’s infrastructure. That boils down to a couple things:
  2.
  3. 1. Latency across our Metro-E links (between CNT, CAN, and MIL) is extremely low.
  4. 2. On the whole, our latency to pretty much everywhere on the internet is considerably lower than if we were using a non-fiber service.
  5.
  6. If we move to a coax-based service, two things will happen with our latency: It will be much higher than it is, and it will be inconsistent. “Inconsistent latency” is basically a large variance in the time it takes for data packets to get from Point A to Point B. This happens on coax internet services constantly, because of constant congestion and because of the nature of cable-based internet.
