- DIVIDING BY 0 - WHY IT'S IMPOSSIBLE [N00b friendly]
- NEEDED
- -Basic understanding of maths
- -Experience dividing with numbers lower than 0 (e.g 20/0,5)
- Every division can be solved using a XY coordinate system. Below, I have drawn an example.
- The Y axis shows the number being divided and the Y axis shows the number it's being divided with. The lower the X number gets the higher the Y number rises.
- Y
- ^ x
- I
- I
- 60I
- I
- I
- I
- 40I x 20/1 = 20
- I 20/0,5 = 40
- I 20/0,25 = 80
- I 20/0,1 = 200
- 20I x 20/0,0 =
- I
- I
- I---I-----I--------I-------------I-->X
- 0 0,1 0,25 0,5 1
- As you can see, the closer the X number gets to the Y axis the steeper the curve becomes.
- When the X number has reached 0 the curve is so steep that it never comes to an end. It becomes an irrational number (SURD). An irrational number has a unlimeted ammount of decimals and can therefore not be written. (Just like PI π)
