My channel is twitch.tv/dukebilgewater and I was banned for a joke I made towards the head administrator Horror. You can see the comment I made in this picture: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/BZfHH2BCEAAstit.png If you need context, this comment was a joke based on information that Horror has made public in the past few days. He added the global emote NightLight at the end of October; when asked about the origin of the emote, he responded with, "Do I need a reason [for adding it]?" on Twitter and later tweeted that it was his boyfriend's fursona. I and others thought that it was unprofessional for Horror to involve his personal life and relationships in his work in the form of adding his boyfriend's fursona as a global emote on Twitch, especially as his job is quality control of emotes and subscriber emotes. In light of twitch.tv/cyghfer's subscriber emotes being removed - one on the basis of looking like "some hello-kitty style thing?" (I have a pastebin of Horror's message, if anyone wants it posted) - I made a joke about the origin of the NightLight emote. I was banned within 30 seconds, my channel closed, and my IP blocked from using Twitch. Within a few hours, twitch.tv/werster and twitch.tv/peaches_ were also banned, with no explanation as to why they were banned. Dozens of Twitch users were also banned from chats for using the phrase "REMOVE HORROR" as a way of expressing their discontent with Horror's actions as an administrator. I could talk about the response that the speedrunning community had to this incident, which has been a bit petulant, but that isn't the issue here.

The issue is that I saw this screen capture of Twitch admin Chris92 talking about telling Reddit mods to delete comments in threads about this incident. I don't use Reddit, so I don't know if this is common practice here, but going outside of your own site to ask moderators of another to cover your ass for mistakes you made and prevent discussion of an ongoing issue by censoring it? I don't understand how this is acceptable. I would like to hopefully see some real discussion of these events, an whether the Twitch admins were justified in their actions.

I'm not looking for a "witch hunt" as they're trying to call it, all I'm looking for is an open discussion where I and others won't be censored by the administrators from another site; that said, PLEASE try to stick to legitimate criticism and comments. Hopefully this thread isn't deleted as well, all that would prove is that Twitch is too afraid to let this actually be discussed. But if it is deleted, at least it's "better this way".
