An interesting tactic; I approve. At first, I didn't believe you, however, the fact that you didn't remove the link coupled with the deviations of posting times between this account and the sacrificial account seem to corroborate your story.
Now about you. It's possible that you have a background in coding, which actually eliminates more people than one might think. You also clearly have a vested interest in this game, which also eliminates some possibilities. You have some strategies that you've put into effect.

Have you developed any kind of automated vote counter feature into your program yet? If you haven't, well, I've written such a program myself and was wondering if it might help you out a little. I won't give you the program itself, as it's embarassingly terrible and also hard to use and I'd rather not go through the process of explaining how to use it, but I can always provide you with the excel file that it generates containing information regarding how everyone has voted. Perhaps you could release said file in a post every day or so? By doing so, you could simultaneously promote your Mafia Helper while also providing useful information to the Town.
Or not. It's just a suggestion. I'll probably end up releasing said file publicly either today or tomorrow if you don't want to do this.
Assuming that you don't implement a vote counter feature in your Mafia Helper and thereby make my program obsolete, anyway.

Yeah, that's just the thing. You really can't prove yourself if you don't have evidence that you're legitimate yet (assuming that you are legitimate). That means whether or not you are trustworthy is still up in the air, and thus you can expect people to be suspicious of you.
I suspect one of two things:
1) You're legitimate, in which case you're probably a Town power role and may be able to prove your legitimacy as such eventually.
2) You're a Townie, in which case there's no point in you using a novelty. Townies haven't much need to fear death.
3) You're not legitimate.
So...one of three things can happen. Either enough time passes for you to get some real evidence that proves you're legitimate (if possibility 1 is true), you come out with your main account because there really is no reason for you to hide (possibility 2), or you provide no evidence and never come out, making possibility 3 the most likely possibility.
Also, heh. Good one.

Don't worry about your switch early on, however, it is quite interesting. I've been in contact with someone who may or may not be an Investigator. I asked them for the wording of their role, and they responded with
Congratulations! You have been randomly chosen to be an Investigator! You may pick one person per night and learn their alignment.
This, is, of course, missing the "to follow" portion that yours had. I told them that this was very close to what I was looking for, but not exactly, to which they replied
Ah, so you are the real deal. Looks like there's a second investigator in town, one who's on board with your plan already? The real text, of course, also specifically says I must "follow" them to learn their alignment, which is somewhat more clear given how the rules are stated.
Because their letter matched yours, I trusted them a bit more and let them know parts of plan, but I didn't reveal how I could do what I said.
Is your role letter different enough to were I should no longer "trust" this person?

Also, I believe that there are most likely more than two Investigators.

I believe it to be very likely that /u/DataCruncher [+1] is Mafia. However, I think it's very likely that there will be a con man following him tonight. The Mafia knows that I know either /u/DataCruncher [+1] or /u/Bitoku_no_ookami is Mafia. Other sources indicate that bitoku is not Mafia, so I',\m reasonably sure that DataCruncher is.

If my contact is DrSherrif, than he has two novelty accounts, both of which indicate he's a sheriff. Not out of the question, but unlikely, I think.
My Investigator contact has been in touch with this account, but does not know that I am a serial killer. He knows that I have the capability to discern if any people in a group of three are mafia. (Which is true, but is more related to some agreements that I have, rather than my role.) Feel free to insinuate that you are me, but please run what you plan to say by me, so that I can make sure we haven't sent conflicting information.
As for my priorities, I intend to remain alive and have as many people die as possible. This entails:
  a) Protecting Sheriffs/Investigators/Trackers so that they can provide information for the townspeople to lynch
  b) Not preventing any Mafia kills at night, so as to have the max number of kills a night as possible
  c) Protecting myself, both from lynching and being targeted at night.

You should investigate Whisperingsage tonight. His reaction to being framed as the prostitute made me suspicious of his role. He didn't try to decline it or argue his innocence, only that the screenshot was faked. That's suspicious behavior.
I investigated him myself. He works with dead bodies and is either a janitor a gravedigger or a mortician as a result. That means there's a better than average chance he's a mafia member due to simple probability. Worth a night's investigation.

I understand why that's proof and why you would want it. But I have refrained from showing my role text to anyone so far and I will continue to do so. Not just because keeping my role text confidential is for the good of the town, not only because I personally find using the role messages as proof boring and against the spirit of the game, but mostly because I'm challenging myself not to.

By the way I just realized something. Internet Explorer still accepts modifications. You can alter text on it as well. We are preparing to post an interesting idea to all members currently alive (and perhaps some who are dead.)
However, since you are interested, I will reveal some advance information.
What happens when the ritual is completed:
We win, and two individuals will be sacrificed. One will come from the mafia, one from the town. It is unfortunate that this is the case, as it frightens away any potential help, however I think you can agree the damage we can actually do with our win condition is minimal. The game will continue, just like it did when the ghostbusters won.
We are after either a serial killer or doctor. We require their tools (literally their tools, not their services, or we would simply offer a pair of targets to a serial killer) to sacrifice our town-person and mafia member.
To gain the tools we will kidnap a doctor or serial killer, borrow the tools the night of the ritual, and then return the tools the same night.
The serial killer or doctor will not even be interrupted in their nightly activities, nor do we have any interest in killing the doctor or serial killer (in fact we are not allowed to kill anyone besides our two sacrifices.)

A serial killer getting the information is the very best outcome we could want.
Absolute minimal risk to ourselves without the loss of the information. The serial killer will have to do something with it. So either he decides to use it to work with the mafia in some unspecified way that involves blackmailing them or he auctions it to us. It's the safest middleman and doesn't involve us risking a doctor.
And you're still operating under the apparent belief they have information that's worthwhile. It's unlikely they have more than two names.
Still not enough reward to justify the risk of whatever the hell unknown and untrustworthy roles might do.

Anyway, how I did it was the easy way. I investigated a ghostbuster. One of the only people alive with an absolutely confirmed role. There's a chance that the mafia had the same idea, and that they're being followed, but it seems unlikely, particularly given that they have bigger concerns right now.
My other idea is that you investigate me. Of course, there are some details to work out on that case ... but it could prove to be ... pretty interesting.

Every investigation is wasted until you know what it means.
Anyway, my little test showed mafia for me. In my case the alignments were not reversed, they were simply always mafia. This test confirmed my paranoia, for exactly the reasons you describe.
If you're worried about the results being switched, it sounds like you'll need to investigate both a town and mafia before they're lynched. I'm guessing you're lacking the confirmation of the town part. Lynching me would solve that problem, but I'm not sure I'm ready to volunteer just yet.

The "mafia" I found night one died a night death. It was UnparalleledGenius.
I've gotten several people to look into his status, and heard different things from different people. None of it is really conclusive in my opinion.
However, I think that if both town and neutral yielded results of mafia, then I think the odds are very good that it is paranoia, not some other insanity.
This is also why I've been hedging very slightly. I'd like to investigate a real mafia, and then see him hang, to remove this remaining doubt.
But again, my doubt is minimal at this point.

Random question, but did you see this comment I made earlier? I don't suppose you've been in contact with this guy? I now seriously doubt that the account I mentioned was brotherhood, instead I think he's someone much more dangerous. (I have given him little or no useful information so far, btw, since I don't really have any.)
Also, if there is anyone that you know of that is likely-mafia, that you haven't revealed to the town yet, I would like to investigate them tonight. The mystery account I mention above has given me a name he claims is mafia, but I'm suspicious that it could either be a trap or misinformation.

I am somewhat concerned about who will get that list, but there is no real information on that now, and probably nothing that could be done to reduce its impact.
I am very confused by CraftD being so adamant against taking their deal. It seemed like an obviously good move to take it. His reasoning I did not find very convincing, which he usually is, even when I disagree. It is not clear to me if or how he was involved in the mason's compromise. I've decided to occasionally fish for information on him, or provoke him slightly when I get the chance.
Sharing the identity of a homeless would not benefit the town in most cases, so good choice. It is interesting to know that some things are indeed not affected by sanity.
Thank you for sharing two names, it makes this significantly safer for me to investigate. Interestingly, neither of those were the one that my mystery novelty gave me.
All of the leads I have from this mystery novelty are very much WIFOM at this point. They could easily be traps or misinformation. We can discuss more later, but there is little value in that right now.

I investigated someone very-likely-mafia. We can lynch them tomorrow, and that will be the last test case I need to completely confirm paranoia.
I've had a couple people in particular that have told me quite a bit while asking for almost no proof whatsoever. All of them were involved with the masons and friends, btw, so they were confirmed town, but also confirmed poor judgment and confirmed targets for misinformation. I've noted what they've said, but can't do anything with it at this time for that reason. I may never be able to. I may still continue to fish from them and/or others in that way, just in case I find something useful.
I was thinking the same thing you were, about reducing redundancy. Assuming I am actually paranoid, then if I get a 'town' result, it is definitely the Godfather, but I do not know if the godfather will necessarily yield "town" for me or not at this point. The godfather will definitely read "town" to a normal investigator, so I could take assignments from one/several of them to either re-read 'town' results, or screen for homeless among un-investigated names.
This would likely mean working for Scotland Yard, since they seem to have at least one normal/sane investigator. I do not know much about them except: at least some of their results have been confirmed reliable, and they seem appropriately cautious, since they've told me next to nothing so far. But they don't really need to tell me anything important for this to work, they just need to give me assignments.
(I'm curious what your read is on them as well. Interestingly, they mentioned that they believed we were the same person for a while. I told them we aren't, but I have no way to disprove it, so who knows what they think now.)
This would still not find much on average, of course. 1/~60 to find the godfather, even among known 'town' reads, and ~5/~100 to find a homeless. Both are so low that it hardly seems worth the effort at that point. Although as townies keep getting killed, and as people become known, the odds to find the godfather improve. Assuming that it's possible for me to do. Maybe instead I'll try some plan or another to die the most useful death I can think of, if I think it will be better than the expected value of the above.
Something else I was thinking about: the mafia have too many neutrals on their side right now. I've heard they're working with several SKs - I don't know if it's true, but it seems likely to me. It would be useful to put a wedge there, and the best way to do that seems to be to start killing mafia at night. Make them second guess if they're really in charge of them. I haven't done any math, but it feels like we are killing them far too slowly with the lynchings alone, they need to die faster anyway.

We are preparing to post an interesting idea to all members currently alive (and perhaps some who are dead.)
However, since you are interested, I will reveal some advance information.
What happens when the ritual is completed:
We win, and two individuals will be sacrificed. One will come from the mafia, one from the town. It is unfortunate that this is the case, as it frightens away any potential help, however I think you can agree the damage we can actually do with our win condition is minimal. The game will continue, just like it did when the ghostbusters won.
We are after either a serial killer or doctor. We require their tools (literally their tools, not their services, or we would simply offer a pair of targets to a serial killer) to sacrifice our town-person and mafia member. To gain the tools we will kidnap a doctor or serial killer, borrow the tools the night of the ritual, and then return the tools the same night. The serial killer or doctor will not even be interrupted in their nightly activities, nor do we have any interest in killing the doctor or serial killer (in fact we are not allowed to kill anyone besides our two sacrifices.)
THE "KIDNAP AND RELEASE" THING SEEMS CONSISTENT WITH WHAT
HAS HAPPENED WITH A FEW OTHER MEMBERS.

AT BEST THIS IS A WAY TO GET 3 KILLS IN ONE NIGHT.  I COULD
SUPPLY A NAME AND CLAIM YOU ARE A DOCTOR IF YOU WANTED.

AT WORST THE RITUAL KILLS YOU, OR THEY *WIN* AND THEN SELL
YOU OUT.

I GUESS IT ALL DEPENDS ON WHAT HAPPENS WITH THE SHERIFFS.

I made it through the night as well, and successfully killed /u/Eight_Quarter_Bit , who was behind the /u/PloungeBrotherhood account.
I've confirmed that my main account was investigated last night. I got in contact with the group behind it. They said it was "unlikely that they would be able to negotiate with me." I offered them a small portion of my knowledge, which was entirely confirmed by events that have recently happened.
They're currently debating what to do with me, but I think it's likely that they'll find the lure of easy information impossible to ignore.
