Shinji Ikari is salvaged from Evangelion Unit-01 and finds that things have changed, but not for the better: the world has been devastated, his former allies from NERV have become hostile toward him, and Rei Ayanami, the girl Shinji risked everything for, is nowhere to be found. As he attempts to adjust to this strange new world, Shinji befriends the enigmatic Kaworu Nagisa. But a faint glimmer of hope remains for the two boys: a single opportunity to undo the mistakes of the past.   57. It`s extremely hard to describe the third part of the Rebuild series. It`s a love/hate kind of movie. On one side, we have great character development for Shinji and an interesting buildup to the fourth and final part. But on the other side, we have barely any character development for the side characters as most of them barely appear in the movie at all, and it feels a bit cramped. It also feels like nothing more than a really long prologue to the fourth movie, giving you more questions than answers.

  59. And it definitely felt much more similar to the original TV series than the previous two movies, so for those that didn`t like the TV series, they might be put off by 3.0.

  61. Overall, this is definitely the weakest movie out of the Rebuild series, and it could have been so much better. Let`s just hope that the fourth movie will be worth the wait.
