--- Quick /vg/ Starmade FAQ v0.3a---
As Schema makes new updates, the following information may change. Read the update log.
-----------------------------------------------------------
HOW DO I MAKE A SHIP?
Play through the tutorial, you retard.
-----------------------------------------------------------
WHAT SERVER ARE YOU GUYS ON?
Most of us like to go on NASS:
108.61.95.29:4242
For others, check out:

-----------------------------------------------------------
HOW DO I MAKE THINGS MORE POWERFUL?
Add more blocks.
Some blocks don't scale. You only need one on your ship.
These are: Cloaker, Radar Jammer
Some blocks scale only by the total amount of blocks on your ship.
These are: Shield blocks
Some blocks scale only by the total amount of blocks connected to each other.
These are: Anti-Matter Cannons, all 3 missile blocks, salvage beam blocks, AstroTechnobeam blocks, thrusters
Some blocks also have another caveat: BOX DIMENSIONS (see below).
These are: Reactor blocks, Docking enhancers, Turret enhancers, thrusters (don't worry, box dimension effects to thrusters are extremely minor)
-----------------------------------------------------------
BOX DIMENSIONS?
WHY DOES MY REACTOR'S POWER REGENERATION RATE SUCK?
You need to build off box dimensions.
The concept is this: If all blocks are connected, only the sum of the external X, Y, Z dimensions matter.
This video should give you the basic idea: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4r7Sfx_AiwY
HANDS-ON:
Say you have a 5x5x5 cube filled with reactor blocks. Check the regen rate by activating a power block (press R).
Now hollow out the reactor, leaving only an outline of the cube. The regen rate should be the same.
Now delete 3 lines of blocks leaving only 3 lines of connected blocks. The regen rate should be the same.
I see you wondering: "If I extend this reactor 1 block in a specific direction, does it matter?"
No, it doesn't. If all blocks are connected, only sum of the external X, Y, Z dimensions matter.
Extend it in any direction you want. If the box dimension stays the same, the regen rate stays the same.
-----------------------------------------------------------
SHIT'S SHOOTING OUT OF THE WRONG BLOCK!
Press R to set a block as output.
-----------------------------------------------------------
HOW DO I MAKE TURRETS?
Place a turret module on your ship. Make a core. Enter the core. Dock the core to your ship.
The docked core is a turret.
-----------------------------------------------------------
WHY WON'T MY SHIP/TURRET DOCK?
When placing your docking module, was the square green or red? Red shows that
there is an obstruction in the way.
Enter the ship's core and go to BUILD MODE (press SPACE).
Use LCONTROL to enter advanced build mode and make sure you orient the red surface of the
docking module to be free from obstructions. You need to use extenders to increase the max
size of the green box for ships larger than 5x5x5. Extenders work off BOX DIMENSIONS
(X, Y, Z). Play with it for a bit.
Don't forget, you have to CONNECT THE TURRET/DOCKING MODULES (press C to select) TO THEIR
RESPECTIVE EXTENDERS (press V to connect) OR THE EXTENDERS WILL NOT DO ANYTHING.
Side note: If the master is faction set, the slave ship must be set to that same faction.
Side side note: The docked ship/turret will draw power from the master ship, not vice versa.
Siddles note: Docked entities do not draw shields as of yet.
-----------------------------------------------------------
CAN I GO FASTER THAN 50 Km/h
NO.
NOT YET.
-----------------------------------------------------------
HOW DID YOU GUYS GET ALL THOSE CREDITS AND MATERIALS?
Credits - Kill pirates, sell drops for loot.
Materials - Most of us build in single player. You can CHEAT and use admin commands in singleplayer to give
yourself materials and credits.
Admin commands:
http://www.star-made.org/content/admin-commands
Item IDs:
http://www.star-made.org/wiki/item-ids
-----------------------------------------------------------
HOW DO I SAVE A SHIP?
Create a blueprint.
Singleplayer:
Enter a ship. Open up the CATALOG page. CREATE NEW ENTRY.
Multiplayer:
Enter a ship. Open up the CATALOG page. SAVE TO LOCAL.
Saving locally creates a file on your computer so you can spawn the ship on any server.
Make sure you set the appropriate permissions if you don't want mobs or other players spawning
in ships of your design.
-----------------------------------------------------------
I GOT GRIEFED, WHAT DO I DO?
Get use to it, fight back, set up a home, or fly 100 sectors away and try to feel safe.
As of right now, entities like to undock themselves when you log off or the server restarts.
-----------------------------------------------------------
HOW DO I CREATE A SAFE HOME?
First you must create a faction. Then you must place a faction block on a station (pre-existing
or drop the $1m credits to create one), asteroid, or planet. Set the station to your faction. THEN
set the station to your home, all with the faction block. Only one station per sector is allowed.
As long as any of your faction owned ships are docked to your secured home, they will be invulnerable.
-----------------------------------------------------------
DO PLEXLIFTERS/FACTORIES WORK ON SHIPS?
NO.
-----------------------------------------------------------
CAN I JOIN THE /vg/ FACTION?
Probably, just ask someone on NASS. Hopefully someone with the credentials will be online. Keep in mind
there are a few seperate /vg/ factions, and you might not be welcome to most of them.
-----------------------------------------------------------
WHAT IS THE 4CHAN STARMADE STEAM GROUP?
http://steamcommunity.com/groups/StarmadeEmpire
-----------------------------------------------------------
IS SCHEMA THE MOST BASED OF ALL?
YES.
GIVE HIM THE FUCKING THREE DOLLARS.
