Background:

There's three major nations here you gotta know about. Hawkwick is Germanic/Nordic but has used English for centuries. Historically, they've had tensions with Vandinium, to the south, populated by former Hawkwickan settlers. Artstotszka, to the north, has Pseudo-Russo Furries, and Heimar is fully Germanic, bordering Hawkwick to the west. Artsotszka is isolated as of 1983, after a popularized skirmish with Hawkwickan forces.

1983 - Hawkwick was a communist dictatorship from 1920 to 1983. The emperor of Vandinium in 1983 is Treven Von Stein, an imperialist. His forces invade Hawkwick in 1983 to depose the dictatorship, among other, more selfish reasons. After a year of invasion, Hans Jensen, an Army Sergeant, Hinrich Reinhart, a talk show host, and several others, overthrow the Communist government. Vandinium withdraws. Jensen is elected President in a shocking election, largely due to his resistance experience during the war.

1991 - A xenophobic cult-like group of fascists known as Blackwatch have taken over Vandinium and decide to invade Hawkwick after finally kicking out Emperor Treven (who they had secured as a figurehead around 1988 because the man was a moron). Blackwatch takes over Hawkwick but is beaten back by a multinational taskforce and resistance movement, and are then driven into hiding in Vandinium's mountains. Erik Matterhorn, a Captain, garners severe PTSD and loses his family in this war. Jorik Narheim, his close friend, is spared the same fate, but becomes a cynic.

2000 - Hawkwick's army is reformed as HARMFOR, a highly sophisticated armed force, for the time. General Erik Matterhorn is elected as it's leader. Hans Jensen is still president of the New Hawkwick, because of his term limit, and a small-scale personality cult develops around him. Kind of like deGaulle. He has a daughter, Evelyn, in 1996, but his wife commits suicide shortly afterwards.

2006 - Hans Jensen imposes a presidential term limit and steps down, alongside Prime Minister Hinrich Reinhart. Arnkell Erikson becomes President.

Now:

The year is 2012 and Treven Von Stein is locked in a civil war with his wife Elise over what is commonly considered to be a simple argument. HARMFOR (now known as HARM because of an intimidation-based internal re-branding campaign) intervenes on the side of Treven, wounding Elise. Treven is killed by pro-Elise soldiers shortly afterwards, and their son, Fredrick, is crowned Emperor, despite being in HARM custody, having been captured when Elise was wounded. Elise becomes Empress Dowager, but Treven's forces, having cultivated a serious personality cult, keep fighting. HARMFOR withdraws. A faction for neutrality led by the estranged Vandiniumite General Cessius Tessari takes several Hawkwickan towns hostage, forcing the returning HARM forces to intercept him and offer a negotiation, the villages for Fredrick.

Cessius's forces turn on him as they see the Hawkwickan forces approach, leading to the deaths of many civilians and soldiers, as well as an out-of-retirement negotiator Hans Jensen. Blackwatch orchestrates a takeover while Fredrick and later Elise enter HARM custody. Blackwatch then proceeds to invade Hawkwick in full force, having used their insurgencies in the previous decade as a recruitment tool; Jensen's daughter, now 17, is conscripted into the army as a result.

After HARM halts the Blackwatch advance near Ostwind, in southern Hawkwick, a group of communist sympathizers wishing to reinstate the party from 1983 bomb Parliament during a heated session about the war, killing President Erikson as well as most of the government. HARM declares martial law, leading to protests as there were still various branches of government that could have stabilized the nation. HARM forces then accidentally slaughter civilians while fighting Blackwatch. Vandinium's royal family, having escaped HARM custody, returns to Vandinium and begins undermining Blackwatch rule.

Hawkwickan fascists, known as the Hawkwickan Nationalist Authority, and Hawkwickan Democratic Socialists from the east known as the National Freedom Assembly, congregate throughout the nation, planning to rebel against HARM and fight each other for control of Hawkwick. Blackwatch, facing internal issues, ceases their advance, but continues to occupy southern Hawkwick. Evelyn Jensen joins the NFA after being grief-stricken at watching her lover Gerald die in the war.

It is now 2013. Jory Hellhorn, the leader of the NFA, berates monarchy on television, leading to many monarchies worldwide generating bad-blood with the NFA. The NFA sends envoys to neighboring Heimar, promising a stable, democratic Hawkwick. The King of Heimar, Friedrich, is a republican himself, and therefore agrees to help the NFA retake Hawkwick. They are joined by their Artstotskzan allies, who proceed to blockade Blackhorn Island, the de facto headquarters of HARM since the 90s. General Janus Wulfar defects from HARM in the south after hearing the news, taking the entirety of all Hawkwickan forces fighting Blackwatch.

The NFA attracts many formerly prolific figures, including Evelyn Jensen, Hinrich Reinhart, and Rickard Jensen, the former director of DRAGON (Hawkwickan Intelligence). HARM is ruled by Matterhorn and his subordinate Narheim, however as the war progresses so do Matterhorn's mental issues, leading to Narheim growing skeptical. Vandinium sends diplomats to all of the factions, but the HNA and HARM send them back dead, as Vandinium is blamed for Hawkwick's problems, while the NFA diplomatically sends the Vandiniumite diplomat back on the same principle.

Fredrick, after witnessing the death of his mother in an assassination, gathers a fleet of most imperial supporters, intending to give command of the fleet to the NFA, despite their utter refusal to cooperate. This is likely due to the fact that Evelyn Jensen and Emperor Fredrick's shared childhood friendship. Fredrick, however, is unaware that Evelyn, now struck with PTSD and scarred by the war, has begun hating him and Vandinium in general, as has most of Hawkwick. Fredrick's fleet is pursued by Blackwatch vessels, however, while escaping, both fleets stray into Artstotzkan waters, leading to them being both annihilated by the Artstotskzan fleet. Fredrick is presumed dead.

Heimar sends diplomats to the NFA's headquarters at Hlymrek castle, including the oldest Prince of Heimar, Viktor Albrecht. Viktor makes fast friends with the Artostskzan Princess Isabella, also serving as an NFA diplomat, and with Evelyn Jensen, who, despite being distant, serves as a Hawkwickan Angelou to their royal family drama. Jory Hellhorn, a democratic socialist, strays into anarcho-socialism as time goes on, having become disillusioned with bureaucracy after his experience in the NFA.

The second-born Heimarn Price Markus, a KSK commander, strays across a lost Blackwatch experiment in the wilderness in western Hawkwick, on a routine operation. This experiment is Elisia 'The Drainheart', a genetically engineered woman, and part of a failed batch of attempted mentally proficient super-soldiers. They fall in love, creating an oddly destructive relationship.

The HNA, having taken control of the capital, are subsequently smashed by HARM forces led by Narheim, who is in turn granted command of all HARM forces in the north. The faction is left in disarray, and HARM is at it's strongest.

It is now 2014. Feeling that Hellhorn is holding the whole faction together, HARM mounts a special forces attack on Hlymrek Castle but fails to capture or kill Hellhorn. Isabella is wounded in the attack, and the NFA's top general, Marcus Notte, is killed. The NFA is left in temporary disarray as HARM makes major gains, defeating Heimarn troops near the capital handily, before withdrawing to a more defensible position after destroying the city's infrastructure.

During the battle, Markus, having been sent on an assassination mission, is captured by forces under the command of the three-war veteran Thaaral Kohnarik, who brings him to Blackhorn Island, subverting the blockade. Markus is tortured for months, although it is during this time that Narheim attempts to help him several times.

Blackwatch is finally pushed out of Hawkwick by NFA forces and is subsequently destroyed after their leadership perishes in a nuclear strike orchestrated jointly by Artstotskza and HARM. Fredrick re-emerges from hiding with a bastard child and retakes Vandinium.

Matterhorn, realizing the people are becoming disillusioned with him, reinstates the traditional royal family of Hawkwick, the Ulfberts, as figureheads by tracking down their descendants and settling on crowning Magnus II High King of Hawkwick. Magnus II, who had been a normal teenager alongside his sister, Ava, is forced to deal with this sudden shock. Narheim helps Magnus and Ava survive Matterhorn's paranoia.

Isabella, having been around Viktor while healing, falls in love with him, but they keep it a secret. Evelyn goes off with her friend Wil, with the mission of helping smuggle HARM defectors out of Blackhorn Island, with Artstotszkan help. Elisia, wanting her lover Markus back, teams up with Heimarn forces under Viktor to rescue Markus, infiltrating Blackhorn island. They link up with NFA forces, including Wil and Evelyn, who are willing to help, as they have a concurrent objective of smuggling Hendrik Ansgar, the air marshal of HARM, off of Blackhorn.

The team successfully rescue Markus, however the process has changed him substantially. Markus leaves to recover, while Heimarn troops cease fighting in the war. The royal family, heavily disillusioned by Matterhorn's treatment, leave for Vandinium in self-imposed exile. The twins find themselves welcomed in a heavily damaged Vandiniumite royal palace.

Heimar's king sends their daughter Mallorie to serve as a Heimarn liason to both the Hawkwickan and Vandiniumite royality in Vandinium after his democratic trip there, however, on the return flight, his plane is shot down over Sadia. In reality, this attack was orchestrated by a now power-hungry Markus, who has used his recovery time to conspire with Elisia and Narheim to end the war.

Markus and Narheim manage to isolate Matterhorn in a rarely-used HARM command center, where a coup is staged and a large majority of HARM's leadership are killed; Narheim assumes control, despite reservations about replacing his former friend, and Markus takes the Heimarn throne after Viktor becomes ineligible by marrying Isabella matrilineally.

It is now 2015. Elisia orders Heimarn KSK to the NFA, who are systematically slaughtered. Jensen, Reinhart, and Hellhorn escape, although Jensen and Reinhart return to civilian life while Hellhorn takes a number of loyalists, including Wil, overseas, in hiding. The war is proclaimed over, and Narheim and Markus create the Altic Union, a supernation composed of Hawkwick and Heimar.

The world persists in relative state of tense peace for two years; Mallorie, having discovered the truth about her brother, severs her familial ties and marries Magnus. Ava marries Fredrick and has a child, creating a political super-alliance. Hellhorn manages to steal some nukes from Vandinium. Markus and Elisia have a child.

In 2017, the Altic Union, pressured by the military industrial complex and driven by a supreme hate for Vandinium, invade in the name of restoring stability to the region, successfully staging a false flag attack at a mall to justify the invasion. The initial strike at the Vandiniumite royal palace fails, and Elisia is captured. Union forces lock into battle with Vandiniumite forces for the next year and a half.

Evelyn Jensen and Reinhart are pulled from their civilian lives by DRAGON in order to discover Hellhorn's whereabouts after he stole the nukes; but despite this, Jensen is reassigned to Vandinium. She successfully defects, managing to get herself in the custody of the also-defecting Mira Schieffer, who wishes to join the Royalists. More and more flock to the Royalists, including Janus Wulfar, of Civil War fame. Viktor and Isabella have a child during this time.

It is 2018. Artstotszkan-Altic Union relations deteriorate after Viktor and Markus have a falling out; Artstotszka takes a neutral position as they share the Union's hate for Vandinium (for complicated historical reasons).

Mallorie, having developed hacking skills in the past, is sent on a mission to crack the former HARM, now AU military management and logistics network known as Wyvern. This would allow the Royalists to track helmet cameras and troop movements for their enemies. Although successful in retrieving the code, Narheim had gotten a heads up from AU forces in Vandinium of her absence, and successfully injures Mallorie. Magnus, who tags along on the mission in secret, is forced to sever his wife's arm in order to ensure her survival. They are both pulled out of the now-burning facility by Gregor Gray, a royalist Special forces soldier.

General Schieffer accompanies an armored column directly north of Vandinium into the Artstotszkan border, eventually meeting Empress Annalise and scheduling a meeting. Gregor Grey consoles Evelyn Jensen after she meets Fredrick for the first time in years, failing to deal with her grudge against him, possibly starting a 'thing' in between them.

Narheim feels disillusioned with Markus once he begins a government purge, and seeks to right his wrongs in the long-term. As of now, an international anti-AU conference is being organized in Artsotszka at King Magnus's behest. That's where we are.
