Okay so

 

Fen is one of those guys descended from Link but he's not ~awesome~ like Link so he tends to get mocked by his older brother and a lot of the other family members. He's also in love with his generation's reincarnation of Zelda, and wants to marry her, and she loves him too it's adorable. Link's reincarnation is a twelve year old cousin of Fen, so he's not exactly ready to go SAVE DA WORLD just yet. But he will have to anyway DARN.

 

So because Fen is tired of his brother going "whatever man you can't even lift a barrel what are you Fledge" he decides he's going to go looking for the really awesome sword his ancestor and other people sealed in some cave somewhere. He goes in and he figures out the traps and puzzles and stuff because he might not be tough but he's really smart. And he finds the sword! Yay! Except it explodes into shrapnel in his face and buries itself into his skin OW.

 

He manages to drag himself back to town and gets mostly fixed up but he knows something's wrong when everyone's like 'we didn't find any sword pieces in you you're imagining things'. And he really gets that something's wrong when he starts having nightmares and bad memory lapses. And. Y'know. Disembodied voices mocking him and whatnot that's up to you.

 

And then Ghirahim takes over and almost kills Zelda OH NO.

 

He thinks he's killed her and so he runs out to the old sealed temple where he won't hurt anybody and generally feel sorry for himself. And of course Ghirahim is looking at the inner workings of this dumb human and is like NOPE so he's using the iron and such in Fen's body to remake his own from the inside out aaaaaaaaa--.

 

But this guy from one of the founded cities at the same time is like "i need ultimate power to drop Skyloft on these losers because I hate humanity and I'm a jaded nihilist and also I'm emotionally unstable???" (there's other reasons, mostly because his own wife died and he felt like no1curr about them and she was the only thing keeping him sane). So with Ghirahim spending a lot of energy reworking Fen's body, this guy is like "oh hey there's the power I was looking for" and will go after him.

 

But of course Fen is fighting off ghirahim's influence and trying to help his cousin Link find the pieces of the Thing that will purge Ghirahim from his body, so it'll quickly turn into those "CAN ANYTHING WORSE HAPPEN TO ME RIGHT NOW GDIT" (spoiler, it can). But obviously he's not going to tell Link what's really happening. Probably just claim that he's sick and needs a cure or something.

 

There's five things Link needs to get to fix Fen, and I think it'll be that the first goes off without a hitch, the second is when Mr. Grumpypants (we'll call him Cathmore) is introduced and the reveal of what's happening to Fen, the third is when Ghirahim's influence starts taking over Fen and Link will probably have to smack him around to let Fen take over again, fourth is when Ghirahim completely takes over Fen's body and destroys what they've worked for this whole time.

 

But then Cathmore tries to use Ghirahim to drop Skyloft. And so Link will have to go up there and deal with them both maybe? idk the ending will depend on what we've worked out up to that point.
