1. They really need to fire a lot of these sales reps. They flat out lied to my elderly mother about everything, completely screwing her over then when she called multiple times they just kept upgrading her into bigger packages.
2.
3. Before she even met with the sales rep, I gave her a list of specific things to ask cause I didn't want her getting screwed over. She asked about typical speeds and if there were any bandwidth limits. The rep told her it would be around 10MB/s and that it was unlimited bandwidth. As she asked each question off the list, she wrote down every word the rep told her.
4.
5. Going off of the sales rep's lies, she got stuck into a 2 year contract. First day she got it, it never worked. Pages wouldn't connect or load. So I had her call them. Never even using it once, they told her she went over her bandwidth limit. Well after a few transfers and after upgrading her package, they eventually sent another tech down. This time they got it working, but at super slow speeds, around 30-50kb/s, and not only that, pages would load all funky and messed up.
6.
7. So she called them again, was told she went over her limit again, got upgraded to another package, and they told her they would give her 2gigs of bandwidth for free for the trouble.
8.
9. Well, that never happened. I installed some bandwidth monitors, thinking perhaps windows update was downloading a bunch of crap, which I also disabled on her laptop. I also setup her phone so it would connect to her 3G network only for data rather than use wifi, using up dishnets bandwidth.
10.
11. I came back a week later, checked the monitors, and she only used a total of 1MB.. That's it. Told me it hardly worked so she didn't bother with it and was just using her phone instead. I tried to pull up a website and it said her service was terminated due to violations!
12.
13. This time I tell her, I'm calling. After a few transfers I'm told she illegally downloaded a copyrighted game. I tell them, she doesn't even know how to download anything, on top of since she has had dishnet, she's barely even used it, and the only games she ever plays is physical ones like cards or board games. I got transferred again, and now the story has changed. They tell me she illegally downloaded mp3 files and told us the name of the files. I don't know if they were making these band names up or what, but I tried googling (using my 3G obviously since dishnet never worked) these bands and found zilch! They don't even exist!
14.
15. After some arguing over the phone, they tell us since this was her first offense they would turn it back on.
16.
17. What happened after that? Anytime you tried to access any website it asked for a customer account number and password to some other satellite company. The dishnet ones didn't work for it so we had to call yet again to get this information.
18.
19. Well after we got internet back, it was still the same, wouldn't run any faster than 30-50kb/s and pages would load all funky. It wasn't her laptop or phone causing it, cause when running 3G everything loaded fine.
20.
21. I leave and the very next day, her account has been terminated yet again! I call and it's the same freakin story, she illegally downloaded mp3 files that were copyrighted. I'm like listen, she has never downloaded anything let alone actually load up any webpage to actually download anything.
22.
23. Then they try telling me that someone was stealing our internet and to install bandwidth monitors to see. Already way ahead on that one and told them I have already done that. They tell me the router is probably public. Nope it's password protected with two types of encryption, and even if that were the case, we would know cause I've been monitoring the bandwidth.
24.
25. They send a tech down to fix it. He does some tests, and says it's all good now. I checked it and yes, it was finally working, but still rather slow, around 1MB/s download speeds. About 10 minutes after he leaves, it goes back to 30-50kb/s and pages loading all funky again.
26.
27. Then surprise, account terminated yet again!
28.
29. So thanks dishnet, for completely screwing over my elderly mother.
30.
31. Once I find some time to help her out with this situation where she's stuck paying an outrageous price for NO internet for the next 2 years I will be seeing what can be done legally. This won't be done with your typical lawyers either.
