  1. I appreciate your candor and respectfulness in your message to me. I haven't had time this week to give it a response, but it is due. I have to agree with most of what you said. The more important points, such as myself being stuck in the past, is accurate. Quake 2 was a glorious game back in the day, with thousands of clans and people all together making the scene so active. It’s unfortunate that you were so young then, you never really got to experience the greatness that was. I...well...I try to rehash and relive those glory days. I still have all the demos and screenshots in remembrance of a great time, in my life and in many others. It was my intention to bring some of that respect back, toward me, and toward the people (not just clannies) I played with at the time.

  3. I see now how futile it is in the game today. Bringing up the past is simply a sore subject amongst a dying breed. Sometimes I forget to realize that its 2012, that my glory days of quake 2, were 8 years ago. That’s an awfully long time, and my sense of time between sort of disappeared.   :'(

  5. You were also right to say what you did about the scene today. About the most "usable" players. I have been out of the scene so long that I really don't know who's good and who's not. The line between duelers and teammers has faded to just about nothing, when in the past, with software mode just becoming obsolete, there was a firm line that ousted many of the great players with high individual skills from being on the premier teams of the age.

  7. But you're very wrong about two aspects; one is that the national team DID know what it was doing. In a time of moderate activity, it held tryouts and practices and played every day and really did suck up the best team players of the time. I remember it very well in 2003 when flarez, shellz, grunt, neticz, manip, ob, randy, and daized were, simply put, the best there were at selfless team play, no gun hogs, all position players, with great skill. And then again in 2004 when it was myself, dahang, manip, kaitech, d1tzu, rehash, tissue, naymlis, randy, dazied, outbreak, flarez, 10, mezzo, and redeye. We were, undoubtedly and indisputably the best team players. There was a reason we left out awesome individual skills like adrenaline, king, bl00d, confuzed, granny. They were hogs, jerks, lamers, abandoners, and just weren't pleasant individuals to play with. We got cooperation with Europeans because of our attitude and at the same time, aggressiveness. Home/Away games were never, ever an issue, simply because we were always respectful and pleasant. Please keep in mind that scooby wasn't an american yet, he was the enemy, and you were still infantile learning and developing into a great q2er that would become a staple and feature figure in the scene. What is today has a lot to be grateful to you for.

  9. Most of the top players today were mere play things for us organized teammers. In a time where adrenaline was a mere pawn of his clan, where slugs and ah's and pyrex's didn't even exist. Did you know that I played in a time when Nayml!s was a newbie?  That I had to beat him and his clan every single sunday until he learned how to play? I wasn't simply a good teammer, and an all around friendly guy, I was revered. Eventually these players grew to become far better than I ever was individually. But unfortunately it came at a time when the q2 scene was a 100th of what it used to be, and rapidly declining toward extinction. Oh man, I wouldn't even rank myself in the top 100 usa players in individual skill. Well maybe 90th ;D

  11. My last point, in defense of clan [2c], is that you have a partially valid argument. You simply weren't around as 2c grew. The clan wasn't out there to do 1v1's or 2v2's or anything to do with individual skill. We didn't loudmouth in forums and spam servers with talk. Everything we were, the essence of the clan was teamplay. 4v4 in america and abroad. That’s all we did. was play in Europe. Against mediocre teams there, and mediocre teams here. But MY point is that we annihilated every team we came across. Good or bad. Your point is that we never faced great teams like Bb, or top lineups like devine. Well, it’s a very valid point. We never got the chance. I too hold a lot of respect for those great teams like dz devine va and mad, and later Bb and scooby's teams. But even in 2003/4, q2 was dying.

  13. I really respect you a lot man. The fact that you're my age and so good at q2 shows one side of your devotion, and your mere presence on the forums and mirc, show a character far stronger than I ever was. You've played this game for 8-9 years. I played this game for 5. I simply can't argue with you and your points. Everything you say is valid. Even though we played in two different ages of quake, we overlapped a bit in 2004, and are glad you got to see a glint of the fervor that was. How q2 was life and more than enjoyable.

  15. Anyway Haunted, I mean this long ass story with the utmost respect for you. I hope I didn't stomp all over any points you made. As far this season of euroq2l, I would be honored to play with you guys, if you will have me as a 4th/reserve player. I believe I have a lot of knowledge that would come in handy, regardless of our opponents. I won't trash talk people and ideas that I really don't know a thing about and really have no business passing judgment. But I'll tell you now. I don't like playing with assholes. It ruins what fun there. As of late, I've seen a side to adrenaline that makes me want to just throw this game away. He’s very antagonistic and very negative, but then again, the scene wouldn't be what it is today without an asshole. And q2's dead years have warped him into a very large, gaping asshole. I’m sorry to have to say that I know he’s a friend and long time ally of yours. You are perhaps the only person he seems to respect. But as for him, I have no respect and will find it hard to play to my full potential with teammates like him. I wish there were other alternatives, but I see now, that there most likely won't be. I will try to make amends and adjustments with him so that maybe I can help contribute to the scene and to team tasty.

  17. Sorry for this massive fucker.
