  25. To explain the list somewhat, I have some obvious bias for my favourite characters that are all the top 6 barring Genji who gets high because seeing his set he definitely interests me more, and he would only be below Junkrat regardless. I have a lot of faith in you delivering on all the characters enough that just liking the character is a big part of the appeal.
  26.
  27. Now that bias aside, I actually was very encouraged by all the ideas for these too. The ideas for a duality themed Zenyatta is awesome imo and fits the character perfectly and could be used for a ton of fun ideas, even if he is a support. Winston's also a bit duality themed but I always love DK alikes and a scientist gorilla who goes beastly at times sounds great. Reaper's self damage and general character is great ofc. McCree and Genji I've already seen and that boosts them a good deal.
  28.
  29. After the top there's a bunch in a row that are more interesting concepts, such as Junkrat, Symmetra, Hanzo, Bastion, Mercy all have ideas I found really fun. Bastion is a bit weird to be so high I'm sure but if you managed to actually do that I'm be very interested to see that and think it'd turn out very good.
  30.
  31. Then there's a bunch of stuff I don't especially care for but would be cool up until about Widowmaker, as they're all a bit bleh like Torbjorn or Soldier especially feeling a bit generic, if still fun. Lucio and Mercy both seem pretty hard because of their playstyles being so passive and team based that it's hard to get too excited for them.
  32.
  33. Pharah is mostly just Samus, which could still be fun, and this low even is not stuff I wouldn't want to see, just not as sold on the concept. The final stretch is just characters I either outright dislike or didn't see much or any potential in their plans, I think the idea for D.Va seems very awkward to balance, Ana seems like it'd be terrible, Tracer seems pretty boring and hard to balance for Smash and Mei has some inherently awkward concepts she has to have, besides that being a very weird character for Smash imo. But by far Ana is worst by far just due to seeming impossible.

  35. Smady Expected Order of Reception (Conceptual Stage):
  36.
  37. 1. Junkrat
  38. 2. Symmetra
  39. 3. Torbjorn
  40. 4. Zarya
  41. 5. Mei
  42. 6. Reaper
  43. 7. McCree
  44. 8. Zenyatta
  45. 9. Genji
  46. 10. Hanzo
  47. 11. Tracer
  48. 12. D.Va
  49. 13. Roadhog
  50. 14. Winston
  51. 15. Pharah
  52. 16. Bastion
  53. 17. Mercy
  54. 18, Lucio
  55. 19. Soldier 76
  56. 20. Widowmaker
  57. 21. Ana

  59. I can pretty much explain all of these individually fairly succinctly for the most part. Junkrat has mass props, explosives and stuff, Symmetra is the same except she has more of a magic theme, Torbjorn and Zarya have mass constructions/weaponry to abuse so would seem to have that same appeal. Zarya and Torbjorn's main downside is they could fall flat due to the character, but on set appeal alone they're that high.
  60.
  61. Mei, Reaper and McCree have some mainstream character appeal, especially Mei to get this high and I think the memes would help them all a lot to get noticed and popular if the sets were good. Zenyatta and Genji/Hanzo are all pretty flashy and have plenty of creativity, if nothing too obvious like the top 4. Tracer is easily recognised and set would probably appeal just for doing the playstyle correctly. D.Va same so long as execution was good.
  62.
  63. Roadhog and Winston are two good HMAs with good set concepts, but I can see people turn their nose down at Winston's whole set, and Roadhog is a bit too general to get that much of an appeal outside me and Warlord if not done great. Pharah could be fairly generic if just like Samus with some more weaponry, though it's likely to be well received anyway.
  64.
  65. After that is true meme territory where you could have hit or misses. Bastion, Mercy and Lucio all fall into this category especially Bastion. These could all turn out poorly because of the characters and none have any particular appeal outside of if Khold walks in and faps to Mercy or something. Soldier and Widowmaker have pretty generic gimmicks that while fairly straightforward, probably wouldn't lend themselves to a great set without a lot of effort.
  66.
  67. Ana just sucks and we've seen a similar set flunk before in Schala. When you are forced to put in team healing and then do a 1v1 set on top of it that's mostly separate it's hard to see being able to escape that trap. Like the last list I'd say Ana's in a tier of her own for how much it seems like a bad idea.
